Haegeum is also the name of the instrument, but another meaning is to lift the ban. You can interpret this song as meaning to lift the ban.

It's a two stringed instrument played with a bow, similar to a violin, but held upright like a small cello, and looking like neither of those. lol But you can hear a haegeum playing in the song. BTS and Agust D's videos are packed with symbolism and story.

The order is Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala. His name is Min Yoongi. He uses the stage name Suga for BTS songs and also when he produces for other artists. Agust D is the name he has been using for his solo works. He created this persona to create music that will capture his inner turmoil a little bit more aggressively than the Suga of BTS. Daechwita, the first song in the trilogy talks about the king who has became insane drinking on the power who is over powered by the street bum. Agust D also calls out the haters in this music video. Daechwita have an explanation video which digs deep into the historical references made in the music video itself.
Haegeum, the second installation in the trilogy is about the society controlled by power, money and greed. He doesn’t eliminate himself away from it but rather he includes himself in it in the form of the corrupt mob leader policeman.
Amygdala, the third one is a more personal story that shows the reason behind the creation of Agust D. Suga/ Agust D has used his music as a medium to talk about the mental struggle he has gone through in the past but through this songs he really bares his soul to his fans. I am pretty sure it has been therapeutic for him as well. Amygdala is the part of the brain that responds to the trauma. During their training time and a long period after their debut BTS has gone through a lot of hardships. Suga has worked part time as a delivery driver during the training period and ended up in an accident that caused significant damage to his shoulder. You will see that reference in Amygdala as well as many other things he had to go through. He is trying to find a way to come in terms with the memories.
Sorry for the long explanation. BTS is a dope group who creates amazing music.

His real name is Min Yoongi, when he's in BTS he uses SUGA, for his solo outside of BTS he uses AGUST D, it's just the letters SUGA backwards along with DT because he's from Daegu Town

He is from BTS and is still part of BTS.
Each member has solo careers while still being in BTS. But as of now their solos are highlights because BTS is currently on break since they need to serve their country for 2 years in the military since it is mandatory and as of now 2 members are enlisted.
BTS will have a comeback in 2025. So we are currently supporting them individually.
It's also a good thing since while there were still in BTS and a BTS member releases a music, it's a conflict to us fans what should we vote for a BTS(group) song or a BTS(member) song? We love them equally so it's a struggle

Agust D , aka SUGA of BTS , real name Min Yoongi. He's still a member of BTS. All BTS members have had side projects throughout the group's 10 year career, but as 2 members are currently undertaking their 18 month mandatory military service the others are taking this opportunity to work on solo efforts until the group can reform when all 7 members have served

I will try to make this easy and succinct.
In Daechwita you see the king/emperor has a scar and so does the peasant.
He is killing the part of himself that was angry and prideful. ( There is more but trying to make this easy.)
In Haegeum you see the bad guy (Agust D) has a mostly healed scar and Suga doesn't have one. Here he is getting rid of the persona Agust D.
Next check out Amygdala which shows how Agust D came to be. It is his real life story, so all parts of it have happened to him.
So Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala are a trilogy and you have watched them in the correct order. :)
Thank you guys for the reactions!

Suga uses his alter ego, AgustD, to tell his true story. He gets super real about his thoughts, traumas, and mental health. He documented his soul for us. The three albums are AgustD, D2 & D-Day.

Haegum means lifting a ban and it’s also a traditional Korean string instrument which you hear throughout the song. You guys are pretty close to the true meaning. There is a trilogy of MV’s 1. Daechwita, 2. Haegum, 3. Amygdala- which is at the heart of the meaning behind these songs. SUGA aka Min YOONGI was an underground rapper that became the 2nd of BTS’ 7 members. His solo songs are performed under is his moniker AGUST D (SUGA OF DAEGU TOWN backwards)There are “explained” videos which will help you understand SUGA’s deep lyrics as well as the cultural connotations you will surely miss without a little help. Looking forward to more reactions. BTS has 3 rappers and 4 vocalists and a 10yr group/solo catalog💜

I was introduced to kpop through Bts. Even if they do originate from that background, Bts has allways been doing their own things, and braking many kpop rules and old ways to do things. Thats one of the many reasons why they have gotten so big, their music has real content, messages and stories. They do so many different styles and not all of them might be your style, but what ever they do, they allways have high quality and superb production and lots of effort to their songs and videos. Even if they are huge right now, they dont slack or give us fans sloppy content. You guys seem insightful and genuine, Im sure you would appreciate many of their songs.

Actually he is not. He has had a hand in production for BTS more than the other members. And he produces beats and songs for other groups/singers. But he is not the main producer for BTS. PDogg is. PDogg has produced every single title track for the group. BTS themselves call him “the 8th member”.
Suga does not even produce all of his own songs. His main producer is El Capitxn (Jang Yi-jeong). This is not to take away from his talent, and he did produce this song.

Daechwita - Haegeum - Amygdala. That's the order, you doing it right.
Detective/Mafia boss in Haegeum (2023) is a black haired rebel from Daechwita (2020) who won back then, but became corrupted too in the end. And white haired mad king from Daechwita (2020) is AgustD from his first mixtape and MVs AgustD and Give it to me (2016). He was blond back then and hurt and angry and greedy. So the mad king represents who he could've become if he didn't reflect on his feelings and actions. So he kills mad king/old self in himself with help of BTS (six men in his gang in Daechwita and Haegeum) and ARMY (a woman in Daechwita). But after some time with the power he gained after killing the king he became corrupted too and instead of being people's servant (police officer/detective) he became corrupted and does some illegal sh*t, being mafia boss. It represents how even if your intentions are good you still will be affected by the corruption in the world in negative way. So when his mafia betrays him, giving the gun this new rebel guy, he just laughs, because he's been here before on the other side, so he knows that it was inevitable, but you can't break this cycle and this new guy will be affected by this corrupted world too in the end. After killing mafia boss new AgustD dressed in his old shirt, but his pants and jacket in his hands are from mafia boss's suit. It means he has this power over mafia and police now (that's why he uses police car as taxi). Then the waitress gives him bowl of noodles with red chopsticks (which represents capitalism) and he starts eating with them, because there's no other proper way to eat it but with these chopsticks (you can't live in the capitalistic society and not be involved in capitalistic rules).
In the end of a day Daechwita was reflection on his inner corruption and Haegeum is reflection on corruption in the world.
You can see different stages of healing of the scar, when in Daechwita it was fresh, detective/mafia boss in Haegeum has it healed long ago but still there and gang leader who robbed mafia boss has no scar at all. Scar represents psychological trauma and process of healing.
Amygdala is MV where you can see how it all started. My warning for you: everything you'll see and hear in Amygdala did happen to Yoongi (AgustD/Suga) in real life. It shows you the reason why the AgustD persona was so needed for his own process of overcoming the trauma.
Arguably, his other three MVs fitting really good in the storyline whicj os supposed to be only Daechwita-Haegeum-Amygdala trilogy.
His first two MVs - Agust D and Give it to me - are where it all started, where mad king cane from. And People Pt.2 is a closure in a sence, where he still has his struggles, but at the end of a day came in peace with himself, his emotions and past. So after Amygdala watch these three too.
It is amazing to watch his healing journey, actually. Not only on music videos, but in overall themes of his albums and lyrics of all of his songs. And not only this, but also changes in his behaviour and mindset. He is so calm and happy now. Almost like when BTS started on 2013 and was just enthusiastic rookies before sh*t hit the fan and they was forced to face harsh realities of the corrupted industry which unleashed all its power to stop BTS from gaining success. This really affected boys and Suga on particular as he was one of people responsible for creating BTS' music, so attacks on their music felt very personal for him for sure. And he also second oldest in the group, so he felt responsible for his younger brothers (youngest one, Jungkook, was 15 when BTS debuted while Suga was 20). Add here his personal and mental struggles. This is a lot of weight on his shoulders.
I genuinely love all BTS members, but I especially drawn to Yoongi (Suga/AgustD). There's a lot of reasons, but main one is the fact that he managed to stay very gentle and kind person even after all this pain, hurt, fear and injustice he went through. It is truly remarkable.

As for the question which came first. As for Min Yoongi (SUGA/AGUST D) He was a underground rapper under the name (GLOSS) at the age of 13 and then he joined BTS. But it was during BTS when he made (AGUST D). You see, they had a lot of haters back then and they were from a small company that almost went bankrupt, they literally had small resources but the industry along with other hiphop artist was mocking them, telling them they won't succeed, idols were not treating them as idols because they're music are heavily influenced by hiphop, and the rapper don't treat them as rappers because they chose being idols even though their songs at that time were more hiphop. Not to mention other groups fans were sabotaging them, and accusing them of cheating (for winning awards at votes) because they couldn't believe they have a huge fanbase. I understand why though since in their country they have few fans compared to other groups but what their antis didn't anticipate is that BTS actually had the fanbase but globally.
So he was so fed up with the hate they were constantly recieving and he made his first mixtape called (AGUST D), the title tract is also AGUST D you should react to that one he's literally dissing his haters on that song.
But before him, their leader called RM already created his mixtape (RAP MONSTER) for their haters. I recommend his song called JOKE. he's basically implying he can rap fast too but that's not the point ur lyrics are trash that why u are a joke.
Because RM is known for his poetry not only can he rap fast but he has bars

  • @boramiii
    @boramiii Рік тому +36

    AGUST D:
He was an underground rapper with his rap crew called D-Town before joining BTS.. He became the second member of BTS and debuted with his stage name, SUGA. Now, Agust D is SUGA spelled backwards and DT means Daegu Town (his hometown)
he's the second member to release his solo mixtape back in 2016, the first member was their leader, RM. Currently, BTS are in a group break due to their country's mandatory military enlistment. 2 members are already inside the camp but the others are still working on their solo projects until their time to enlist but that doesn't mean that they're not part of the group. They're planning to reunite in 2025, which is the year estimated that all members will be done with their duty. Anyway, even when they were not in a group break, each member were already releasing solo songs, on SoundCloud and in their group album because their company gave them artistic freedom within and outside of the group.
    he's successful under 3 names:
    SUGA of BTS
Agust D as a solo rapper
Producer SUGA when he produces songs for other artists (there's also producer Agust D but you only see it on his mixtape and album. like Haegeum, he's the sole songwriter and producer of this song)
but outside of BTS and ARMY, he's most commonly known as SUGA

AgustD is to Slim Shady as Suga is to Eminem and as Min Yoongi is to Marshall Bruce Mathers III 💜 and he grew up listening to and loving Epik High and Eminem and others in Rap and Hip Hop 💜 if you flip the letters of AgustD you will get Dtsuga = Dt (Daegu Town - the name of the underground hip hop group he was part of before BTS, named after his hometown of Daegu) then SUGA (his BTS stage name). 💜he uses “AgustD” pronounced like the month followed by saying the letter D, for his solo mixtape/album releases....he said this persona let’s him be more raw and direct.... he uses “SUGA” when performing as the BTS member persona.... ☮. Love him regardless what he calls himself😬💜 He has said this is the last of the AgustD trilogy [Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala). He has two other MVs for songs from his newer album [the prerelease called “People Pt.2 (feat. IU)’ and ‘AMYGDALA’ which is very very deep and tells some of what he’s been through - caution watching it from an emotional trigger perspective]. He also has a dance practice video to this song. He also released some “live clips” for some of this tracks. He has so much, and then you add all the BTS content too and you have enough to last until they all return from their military service LOL!
Highly suggest the Amygdala MV - keep in mind it tells his story and touches on some of the pain and darkness he has made his way through over the years. I also HIGHLY suggest you watch some of the live clips too to hear him perform live.

Edit: 4:11 And yes their will be references you will miss without knowing about BTS or Korea. For example: Agust D smoking in the MV is an indirect response to everyone who was hating on the two youngest members of BTS for getting caught smoking/having a vape. Basically, saying idols should be able to live their lives without every little thing being scrutinized & criticized.

Idols have to be "perfect" - see also the new group SM Ent. is debuting with "scandalous" pics of one member. 🙄
The fun part is that Taehyung/V may not even have smoked at all. The only thing I saw were two bad photos with him holding something between his lips - no smoke - which in itself is suspicious because the photo taker could have done so much better. In fact it could have been a sucker which he also ate at the concert a few days later and in a Vlog from Paris.
A vape is also not necessarily smoking (that is if it was actually a vape and JK's).
      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Mind you they are all adult and can do what they want.
Smoking may not be good as it can change a voice - and their voice is important to their job - and it is not good for stamina which with the high performance they do is also important. So I think they may not usually do it.
But whatever: It's their body and their choice.

just out of curiosity where did you get that info? It's never been confirmed that's why it was just something that people decided. More than likely it just has to do with his character being a Villan. One of the things I absolutely hate about this Fandom is the constant need to just make stuff up and pass it off as fact.

Thank you for checking out Agust-D's art and music. When Suga goes out on his own outside of BTS he is Agust-D. It's a good thing you checked Daechwita first and followed it with Haegeum. One of you is right about the correlation of Daechwita to this MV. The peasant Agust-D formerly in Daechwita who killed his boastful angry persona is believed to have become the mob boss in Haegeum and you can see the difference in Haegeum where Agust-D who kills the boss (his former self) doesn't have a scar anymore. We believe this is his way of showing that Suga of BTS has matured from being angry from being ridiculed during their early years in BTS to breaking out of Korean society's mold expected of idols to being just who he is: Min Yoongi, the combination of both Suga of BTS and Agust-D, the rapper by heart. But even in BTS's discography Suga raps hard and savage together with 2 of the other rappers in BTS, RM and JHope. You should check them out too😊.
Try checking the last of the trilogy which is Amygdala.. it's very different than the 2 MVs but very raw and honest and is supposedly a prequel of Daechwita and Haegeum

Just riffing off of others comments, he’s such a dang genius. He is the only producer on this and he writes his own story boards for his MVs, and obviously his lyrics. He’s showing himself battling his own corrupt greedy self. The part that wants power, money, etc. The inner rebel is continuously fighting that and battling it down. In both he recruited the people who work for the king/police officer to help him shots himself. He makes reference to the Dark Knight Joker. Even the location is significant it’s in Thailand a former Slaves Market . This album is absolutely genius and this weekend he’s got an online concert, his last three solo shows before he does his mandatory service. He’s easily my favorite rapper. All 3 rappers will blow you away.

BTS have always had the same members from their debut in 2013 till now. Agust D/Suga has been doing solo projects along with BTS projects, as do other members. I know BTS' image in the US has very much been shaped by the likes of Dynamite and Butter, but their music is very diverse and they are pretty much built on hip hop.
So yeah, Suga is very much still in BTS. The group is now not promoting together, because in Korea, they have mandatory military service for about 18 months and the members are due to go. Two of them are already serving and the rest is said to go probably by the end of this year. The plan is they will come back as a whole group in 2025.
I really enjoyed the reaction. I'll be tuning in if your do more 😊

Thanks for your reaction to one of my favorite artist. The video is inspired a bit by the Jocker but also by his MV "Daewchita" and the movie Scarface
In their discography, BTS has already touched on deep themes and psychological themes. For example, in their album Map of the Soul, they were inspired by the theories of Carl Justav Jung, who was one of the most popular psychoanalysts of the 20th century and founder of depth psychology, which is mainly based on what exists between consciousness and the unconscious. Jung coined the "map of the soul" and different concepts to explain it, some of them are archetypes that, as if it were a universe that we carry inside, allow us to draw a map that shows how our psyche is configured (Persona, Ego, Anima and Shadow).. each rapper of BTS has a song for those archetipes (Persona: RM / Shadow: Suga / Ego: Jhope)...
And there is the Anima (the feminine aspect present in the collective unconscious of men and the Animus is the masculine aspect present in the collective unconscious of women. In other words, we all have feminine and masculine energy, although one prevails over the other in each individual.
So in their MV Boy with Love the feminine energy present in the members is exalted because they have already connected with their Anima and that is why they are "boys with love". On those BTS albums they seek to generate a journey towards the encounter with ourselves and the acceptance of the "I" among them the integration of our polarity, be it feminine or masculine... and for this reason a lot of vibrant tone is used in this video and shades of pink in the color palette of the video)
Returning to Haegeum.. here the chief of police is the one who killed the tyrant king in Daewchita, who has now become corrupted with power... For me it symbolizes Suga's shadow, which is in his unconscious mind due to his traumas and which he seeks kill whenever he feels he is taking off and gaining more power... a part of him reveals himself to the re-installation of the tyrant and kills him
Suga is well known for his deep lyrics... He usually talks about mental health, self love, self discovery, politics, social issues, reflects about Life and people.. although he does have trash songs for haters (they have received a lot of hate and criticism trough their career). Please pay attention to the lyrics for your next reactions
The next MV you should react to finish the trilogy that Agust D proposed is Amygdala (a region on the brain primarily involved in the processing of emotions and memories associated with fear. Is part of the limbic system within the brain and is key to how we process strong emotions like fear or pleasure. The name amygdala is derived from the Greek word amygdale, meaning “almond,” owing to the structure’s almondlike shape)
Suga is his stage name with BTS... Agust D is when he releases solo music (in Kpop the artists.. known as Idols, don't usually curse... Althoug the rap line have broke that rule when they sing solo or as a rap unit) so is his way to separate his public BTS Persona known as Suga, in order to be able to express himself more freely without affecting the image of the group
BTS had its beginnings being more hip hop... over time it diversified handling genres such as: R&B, Pop, EDM, Rock, Jazz. There are a rap sub unit within the group and a vocal sub unit where the rappers have few songs by themselves and the same with vocal line... But most of their songs as a complete group combines rap and vocals
There are many songs that you enjoy a lot with the beat and the vibe they have, even without understanding their meaning, but there are other songs that are better appreciated when we know what BTS wants to convey with their lyrics, so that's why Army insists un paying attention to the lyrics so much. Although not all of the group's songs have a deep meaning, there are also songs that are just to brighten our mood, that are fun... but if you pay attention to the lyrics you will realize that in several of their songs more "lively" have a reflective message where they criticize a social issue
Let me give you some suggestions where you can begin to listen more of BTS music if you like
    Rap line as sub unit:

Another movie it references - Scarface (1983). The Hawaiian shirt is similar to the one the main character Tony Montana wears at the start when he was ambitious and wild and the suit is similar to the one he wears at the end of the movie when he is paranoid and stressed - symbolising the worries that come with success. Agust D even has a song called Tony Montana.

Just like in "Daechwita" there is a character in the beginning that is in on everything. In "Daechwita" it is the butcher/executioner, in "Haegeum" it is the guy on the phone in the beginning when he steals the money and he is the same guy at the end that is putting him in the water barrel- he would have placed the gun in the barrel for Suga and calmly takes it from him at the end.
I saw another comment that explained the scars, but here is one more aspect- The king's scar is fresh while the peasant's is still fresh, but healing. The mob bosses scar is completely healed, but still visible while the gangster has no visible scar, yet at the very end, his hair falls over his right eye in the exact same location as the scar. The scar is the physical representation of his real life past traumas and how he has been healing from them, yet his traumas are also what has made him WHO he is today and even when you heal/let go (scar no longer visible), you still carry it/them with you, a part of you.
Real name Min Yoongi (yoon-key, but with a soft k/g), his stage name in BTS is SUGA (Shoe Gah) from "SHOOting GAUrd" his favorite position to play in bball and his solo name is Agust D (August D) which is SUGA backwards and the DT stands for "Daegu Town" the city (Daegu) he is from and his rap crew before moving to Seoul to join BigHit music and BTS.

MIN YOON-GI (birthname) aka SUGA aka AGUST D (solo) is still part of #BTS, besides being part of a group the members have their solo careers as well, SUGA started out as a legit underground rapper in his teen years along with their leader #RM then later became BTS where RM was the first member; it was just them two with other rappers at first while BIGHIT ent. scouted for the rest of potential members until it was a complete group in 2011/2012 and they made their pre-debut #BANGTANBOYS / BTS aka BULLETPROOF BOYSCOUTS within a year before their official debut in June 13th 2013. *Theyve been together as a group for 10 years now but SUGA and RM have been in the rap scene for about 15 years and JHOPE was a famous hip-hop street dancer for 10 years and RM convinced him to join as the third member of the group, rapline was created and so on with their help JHOPE found and developed his own style for rapping.*
They’ve literally rose from the bottom up through all the hardships of trial & error as well as the continuous immature hatred and discrimination people give them.

He has had many many deep, raw and touching verses even in BTS songs so I don't get the division between yoongi in bts and yoongi as a solo artist when they r one in the same. it's all him either way.
Like depending on the song you wouldn't get haegeum type of rap verse from him but that goes for all the members like haegeum type of flow, tone and cadence would be more appropriate for UGH instead of bwl for example but he can do both DNA and mic drop and SDL and daechwita 🤷‍♀️ he's just so versatile

Suga of BTS was an underground rapper and producer from the age of 13, by the name Gloss. At 16 or 17 he signed with Bighit for a Hip hop group they were putting together which eventually debuted in 2013 as an Idol group, he took the name Suga after his favourite basketball position shooting guard. BTS is made of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, and are currently the biggest band in the world. They are all highly talented professional performers.
Your theory of the plot is close, of him fighting aspects of his inner self. As in Daechwita also.
In Daechwita he has the scars too, if you go back and listen to the lyrics you will realise that he was wanting success and money, but found it was eating him up, and he kills his arrogant greedy self. Similarly in Haegeum, simplified a lot. The third in the series is Amygdala, a medical name for the part of the brain where we process trauma and fear, and it explains the scar.
You all would really enjoy BTS music too they have all styles and genres covered in a 10 year career, so you should be able to find much to entertain you.
I recommend you watch Festa Room live 2021, when they sang a medley of songs live, giving you a chance to experience their different vibes.

7:30 You're very perceptive about the inner fight. 😮👍 If you want the entire answer you'll need to watch the very autobiographic third part of the trilogy. It's called Amygdala... 😉

You guys are doing well, and I'm so excited to be part of your journey learning more about Agust D (aka SUGA of BTS) and potentially BTS (I'm hoping you'd be open to it. Their discography is very diverse). I like to hear your initial takes and ideas of what you think it might mean. Keep being openminded, curious and kind - the world needs more like that. I enjoyed it a lot and looking forward to more down the line - take your time, do it at your own pace, and most importantly have fun. BTS means the world to me. They are not just great artist and incredible lyricist, but also very kind, humble and down-to-earth people (so much so, that it's often one of the first trait people tend to use when describing them). They grew from the very bottom and is now the biggest band in the world. They've worked extremely hard for all they've received, they don't take it for granted and they've never "bought" their way forward. I think that's what a lot of ARMY (BTS fans) really appreciate about them too. Just good people who are crazily talented. You'll see eventually. Have a great day!

A lot of the comments answered your questions now so Imma say something else hahaha! Anyways, well done! Good video You're in the right track! Haegeum is the 2nd video of the trilogy after Daechwita. Amygdala comes next and it ties it all together; it explains everything. Please don't feel like your idiots for not knowing everything! That's the fun of it! Learning something new and piecing it all together. ARMY (BTS fandom) is like that too. BTS always surprises us with their storytelling so for a few hours after the MV drops, we're all just discussing what happened and what it could mean. So basically, you're just like us when this song dropped😄If you ever stumble and fall into the BTS rabbit hole, you'll encounter the BU (BTS Universe) where a series of music videos tell one cohesive story. This is when the lyrics doesn't really match the MV. It's like 2 stories running alongside each other. It is sooooo good. However, that is for another time. Let's not rush into that, it can get confusing 😆 Enjoy the journey into Agust D's trilogy! I promise you, it's worth it!💜
Addendum: Min Yoongi (real name) is SUGA (stage name in BTS) or Agust D (alter ego when he is doing his solo stuff). He was an underground rapper before he joined BTS in 2013 so even before BTS, he was already doing music but he was young then (he was born in 1993). To know more about SUGA and the other BTS boys, this guide is really helpful: ua-cam.com/video/huV_yIdxZPY/v-deo.html. But no rush! Go enjoy Agust D's music! There's a lot

I think the 'scarred guys' represents emotions n thoughts that haunts you down, looking for fame, winning a throne, wanting money, wanting more of everything, those allign with Daechita series, and another sort of emothions scatter, like the loniness, the burden, fear n trauma with the other music videos he made. Suga is my favorite because he confronts those feelings, he knows exactly how it feels and how it's dealt, and it shows in his work. I've never seen anything like it.

Duality and identity are common themes in BTS group and solo songs. There is a lot of self reflection where they acknowledge and challenge the negative sides that we all have - pride, greed, anger, fear, etc. They use a lot of analogies to communicate these ideas in their songs and MVs. The Joker visuals provide a shorthand for what he's trying to convey. And if you're interested, there's actually a Fight Club reference in J-Hope's More MV.

I'm not sure how much you know about Min YoonGi aka Suga/AugstD....but as you liked his MV then the following info might be of interest to you.
Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16.
Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper in his hometown Daegu, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17 and became the second member to join BTS..... At BTS debut in 2013 he was 20 y.o.... he is one of BTSs main producers/songwriters/composers and has over 150 song copyrights.... he also produces for other artists and has won awards for his work.... he is one of the fastest rappers in South Korea.
Suga (SHU-GA.... from Shooting Guard - the position he played in basketball) ...... AgustD = SUGA + DT (Daegu Town - his hometown) Spelt Backwards
Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce, write and compose music.
In an interview for Grazia Korea, Suga/Agust D expressed a desire to release the music he wanted to do without having to consider popular appeal or music ranking. He intended to release his music for free in the form of a mixtape to avoid such considerations, commenting that an album "has a feeling of being trapped in some sort of framework" due to the need for company involvement in promotion and advertising. He has released 2 mixtapes - and recently his first official album (of which he continues to maintain full creative control)
Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D". He is best known for his honest hardhitting lyrics.
Bookish Theories UA-cam channel has really good explanations to BTS videos as there is a lot of cultural references and depth to this song that really will blow your mind
This is the second song in the trilogy..... He is a master storyteller.... a fellow army best explained the trilogy as -
Daechwita... ridding himself of the need to prove his worth to others
Haegeum... ridding himself of the confines of modern society
Amygdala... he investigates the inner demons and trauma that started his confinement in the first place.
Suga/AgustD wrote, composed and produced the songs, he conceptualised the MVs and had creative control (working as usual with Director Lumpens (Choi YongSeok) who does most BTS MVs)
Hope you have a great day💜💜Sending Greetings from Australia

Actually all of three, Daechwita / Haegeum / Amygdala are very personal stories about his mental health journey. Yoongi has used his music, both solo work and his solo songs on BTS albums, as a very candid and personal journal of his mental health struggles and healing in a way that has literally saved many lives and helped support a lot of people. He is also known for doing livestreams offing advice and support. He is so known for this that another S Korean singer, Suran, contacted him when she was having depression and writer's block. He invited her to his studio to talk and played some of his massive vault of unreleased music for her. She chose a demo she liked and he produced it for her into a song. She then won awards for that song and he won an award for producing it. He is a genius producer. Steve Aoki said he was a genius and that if Yoongi were in the US he would already be one of the biggest and most well known producers in the world. They call him Midas in S Korea, because everything he touches turns to gold.
The mental health story in these three songs are why they are a trilogy. The reason he is battling himself is he is killing off older, more flawed versions of himself. The scar represents his trauma. In Daechwita it's his rage, paranoia and loneliness he is killing off. The mad king is paranoid and alone, just taking heads, full of wrath. His scar is fresher because his traumas are fresher. Yoongi has been through a whole hell of a lot of stuff over the years. His hair is blonde because that is how Yoongi had his hair in BTS early years. The street Agust D has his 6 members behind him (BTS) and a woman who represents ARMY. He is no longer alone. His scar is more healed over because he is healing his heart. He is confident. He leads a revolution against the mad king (all the people head banging with him at the execution and the executioner helping him is also the butcher he made eye contact with in the street scene.)
In Haegeum - The corrupt detective is the street Agust D from Daechwita, allowing for a temporal shift to modern times. He continues to be corrupted with greed. The street Agust D here has no scar. He continues to be backed up here by his 6 members of BTS, those are not the BTS members in the videos, they just represent them....although two of them did have a cameo in Deachwita and got in a fight on the street behind him. He steals the corrupt detective's money and burns it. He is leaving his trauma in his past and moving forward with a healed heart and is ready to release his greed as well and move into a different stage of his life as an artist. He uses the two red chopsticks as symbolism for his art. A Haegeum has two strings. So the two chopsticks represent his music. He both slays his enemies and feeds himself with his music.
Amygdala is a flashback to the beginning of his trauma, and he lists some of the causes in the video. It shows that the scar was self-inflicted. He has said, in reference to that, all people suffer traumas and go through hard things in life. But he was both very young and not mentally healthy and not able to deal with his traumas properly and gave himself these hurts over them. As he has grown and healed he has been able to deal with them more properly.
Incidentally, BTS is never breaking up. They have all said they are a family and hope to stay together always. They have never restricted and always supported and helped each other in their solo endeavors and are proud of each other's successes. As Yoongi has said "We're real brothers. Period." Right now they have to take a break from group activities while they do their mandatory S Korean military service (Jin and j-hope are already serving and Yoongi just announced this week that he is starting his enlistment process now) so this was a perfect time for more members to release some solo work, which they all have or are in the process of doing. They hope to all be done with their service and reunited for group work in 2025.

everyone has basically answered everything already but i wanna correct someone elses comments. agust d was not created due to bts having young fans actually majority of bts fans are in the same age groups of bts members which is 25 to 30. bts domt try to cater to specific age groups they just make whatever music they feel like and just so happens to have kid friendly songs too. but they never pretended to be a pg group. they've ALWAYS curses in songs its not limited to solo music so not sure why someone said that cause theres many bts group songs where they curses especially in Korean. too many western people paint bts similar to disney artists or boybands when bts have nothing in common with those. bts have always been real in their music even in their first albums they attacked the korean school system and government. they risked being blacklisted by their government too. like bts are real artists. not goody two shoes for the kids music.

Min Yoon-gi is his birth name, SUGA is his stage name with BTS, and AGUST D is his stage name for his solo projects.
The last song in the Agust D trilogy is Amygdala, and it's his story. There is a trigger warning on it, so you might have some feelings, especially if you have experienced trauma. But it's worth every second of watching and experiencing. This video will show you his versatility as an artist. Also, keep in mind that he writes and produces his own music, and he is also one of the main songwriters and producers for his group BTS. The other main songwriters (and rappers) are RM and J-Hope, and they also produce BTS music and their own solo projects. All seven of the members have contributed songwriting, composition, and producing for BTS songs and their solo projects.
BTS member are all the original seven members of the group that debuted in 2013, and they are still a group. They are on a break to do solo projects right now, and their mandatory military service, but they will come back together as a group in 2025. They have not disbanded, and they still support each other and stay in contact, because they are all seven like brothers and consider each other family. Their own words, not mine.
    *Suga aka Agust D's Trilogy:*
    Agust D - Daechwita
    Agust D - Haegeum
    Agust D - Amygdala (turn on CC's) - ua-cam.com/video/IX1dkYoLHVs/v-deo.html
I'll include some explanation of the terms for the songs below, and if you are interested in explanation videos for the songs, I'll include that as well.
    *Meanings for the song titles*
*Daechwita* - is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while the ARMY is marching or as a static performance usually when the King is arriving. (Suga aka Agust D meant the BTS ARMY to be implied.)
*Haegeum* - has two meanings. The first, it's a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings, usually played at Royal Court. Also, it means to lift a ban, or release what is forbidden.
*Amygdala* - is an almond shaped part of our brain which is commonly thought to form the core of a neural system for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of our fight or flight response. The amygdala helps to store memories of events and emotions so that an individual may be able to recognize similar events in the future.

You have accidentally watched the "trilogy" in its correct order, lol (it really doesn't matter that much). Third is "Amygdala", if you want to finish it up. Min Yoongi (real name, with Min being his last name) is still a part of BTS, where he goes by "Suga" (shooga), and then "Agust D" is his rapper name - to keep his personas separate so people don't accidentally stumble into one of his more...adult songs and get shocked or offended by the more intense language/visuals. Now, Suga is 30 years old and BTS has been around for 10 years, so they have a whole contingent of fans who are adults and don't need to keep seeing him as an "pure" youth but K-pop idols are held to all sorts of industry standards that are more lax in their solo work. You'd never - never - see Suga smoking or cursing in a BTS MV but he can get away with it in his solo projects.
I think the main theme of these two videos is "power corrupts" and tyrants can be overthrown. In Daechwita, the blond king lost touch with the people, beheading them and dancing around with his sword like some kind of god, and so a commoner took him down, with the full support of the people who were being oppressed. In this one, Detective Dude has been using his position to force his secret gang into making him money but they take all the risks because he can use his job to do whatever he wants to them. So again, a commoner/thug secretly gathers the support of the whole gang and takes out the corrupt Detective Dude. Maybe these commoner guys will be better leaders - at least for a while.
There are some lines in Daechwita I think are important, something like, "I wanted money and power and fancy cars but I reached the top and now I see that I need to be grounded in reality." Suga/BTS clawed their way up from obscurity, with people from all sides trying to keep them down, but now they are the hugest band on the planet. They have to set new personal goals for themselves and not get wrapped up in celebrity lifestyle which can easily ruin a person. They know they worked hard for their success and they deserve all the perks, but that doesn't mean they are "better" than anyone else or should become tyrannical or lose touch with the fans who carried them to the top and spread their fame around the world.

ARMY can be overwhelming when we roll up because there are a lot of us and because we are so passionate about BTS. But if anyone is mean to you, just know that it represents a tiny, tiny fraction of a massive global fandom that is many millions strong. Most of us are actually not like that. In fact, for a passionate fandom, we are known for being super kind, generous, helpful and charitable.
Also, know that BTS is famous for having a massive amount of very vicious haters, some of whom cosplay as fans to start shit online just to give BTS and ARMY a bad name. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's 100% true.
Jealousy only accounts for part of it, as it started well before they were famous. It has a lot to do with starting as broke industry outsiders who didn't play by the rules and incurred the wrath of those in power, as well as their music speaking truth to power and addressing taboo topics, them not fitting into any genre boxes and being rejected by everyone in the industry in their early years, and also includes racism and xenophobia among the reasons for the hate. The industry continues to try to crush them because they don't profit from their success and there are many videos out explaining both the bullying and hate and why the industry fears them if you want to know more. I recommend Boracity Mag and bby gang mag as good sources on UA-cam. They were also the first idols to have a big and personal online presence, and the S Korean epidemic of online bullying of celebs, to the point where multiple celebs have been driven to take their own lives, really started with BTS. The hate these guys have endured has been horrific, as teenagers just starting out, the death threats, the smears and slanders, the accusations and rumors and organized attempts to derail and squash them, when they didn't even make enough money to hire lawyers to defend them and just had to take it on the chin.
But a result of these attacks (which continue to this day, but they have a legal team now) is that ARMY can be a bit defensive of them. But they have needed our defense and have acknowledge countless times in their words and their music that it saved them over and over. The symbiotic relationship between BTS and ARMY is like nothing I have ever seen before. It's truly a remarkable thing. You will learn more about that if you get more into learning about BTS. Just know they are being studied in colleges around the world and among the other subjects (like their genius multilingual poetry and wordplay, their visual symbolism, their multi-media storytelling, their emotional and psychological impact, their marketing, Namjoon's three UN speeches, etc) they are also being studied for their global socio-political impact and the unique relationship between BTS and ARMY.
As Jimin would say "You Nice, keep going."

Here's my take on the song. It repeats the theme of Daechwita. First, a Haegum is a two stringed instrument and also freeing from a system. The two characters Agust D plays are the two strings of the haegum playing a melody together and they are also two aspects of Agust D's character as an artist. The dirty cop is Agust D's corporate side. He's happy to be in the system and make lots of money doing what is expected of him (read Dynamite, Butter). But he's lost his freedom of expression. He's a part of the system even if he is somehow cheating the system at the same time. The criminal is the more artistic side of Agust D. He's unpredictable, emotional, irreverent. He uses his tools (read chopsticks) in a surprising way to attack and destroy those who seek to cheat him and use him. He steals the cop's money because it was there and it was fun, but he doesn't respect money and isn't owned by it. He throws it around his room and burns it. The cop punishes the artist/criminal character for it -- tortures him for being irreverent and undermining the order that brings the cop lots of money. But in the end fate/the cop's support system/everything works together to destroy the corporate part of Agust D and let the artist part go free. And what does the artist part do? He uses the corporate system (read police car) to go back to the restaurant and use his tools (read chopsticks again) as they are supposed to be used, to nourish himself. This is a story using symbolic language to reflect the way Min Yoongi (Agust D's real name) has decided to focus on his own solo activities to evolve himself as an artist and to reject the more corporate expectations associated with BTS as a moneymaker for Big Hit and Hybe. I'm not saying he hates Big Hit or anything. Just that this song and story is a reflection of his need to break away. But even as he does so he also reflects on what freedom of expression is and how it may be different from self indulgence. Although he is clearly speaking to haters here, I think he is also slyly reminding himself about the dangers of self indulgence as well. If you doubt the complexity and deepness of the interpretation, just look to the lyrics. Here's an english translation of some of them: "Freedom of expression/Could be reason for somebody's death/Could you still consider that freedom?/If your convictions are reflected in your judgment and speculations/And you believe that your freedom is on the same level as others/Then don’t hesitate, just get on board/Liberation from all that's forbidden/For all those living in these unfortunate times" and "Endless influx of information prohibits freedom of imagination, and seeks conformity of thought/All these painful noises blind you, and/Now it even infringes on freedom of thought/All the controversy incessantly/Triggers confusion in judgment uh/Really, what is it exactly that’s been restricting us?/Maybe we do it to ourselves/Slaves to capitalism, slaves to money/Slaves to hatred and prejudice/Slaves to UA-cam, slaves to flexin’/Selfishness and greed have gone off the rails

Majority of what u said is a good explanation but I don't agree on the part about butter and dynamite because yoongi as well as the rest of the members agreed to make those songs and they are happy with them but u r saying stuff in relation to those songs as if it were facts when it's just how u view things and putting words in yoongi's/bts' mouth and thats something I will never stand seeing.
Also 2-3 songs in English don't negate their 300+ song discography and never will diminish all they have done this far in their career. they have had songs in english just like they have had songs (even full albums) in japanase. And they could decide tomorrow to release a song/album in swedish and would still not change them as the sincere, raw, amazing musicians that they have been for 10+ years and they will continue to be in the future.
Also ALL the members r focusing on solo activities right now which has a very obvious reason and circumstances why and has nothing to do with yoongi trying to break free from the company/the group or whatever else u r implying lol like u really don't listen to a thing yoongi says in suchwita or interviews even😭😭💀

Good for you guys, that you've discovered Agust D/Suga/Min Yoongi!!! He is so extremely talented. If you stick with this, you'll find so much great content by him - and all of BTS! The other two rappers in the group are also extremely gifted lyricists/producers/composers. I think you will be impressed by all of them😊
And then there's the vocal line, which is a gift to humanity❣
I have never been way in to rap, but LOVE these guys rap! Their messages are mostly always deep, with real substance.
I'll be watching to see if you do more💜

He's still part of BTS. All the members of BTS have always produced solo work. Before BTS he was part of the South Korean underground hip hop scene along with his fellow band mate RM.
BTS debuted in 2013 and are still a group and at the moment 2 members are doing their18months of Military service the others are doing more of their solo work before doing their military service. They will be all back together at the end of 2025 early 2026 once all 7 have completed their military service.
Suga (aka Agust D) RM and J-Hope are the 3 Rappers of BTS. RM is the main Song Writer of the group while Suga (aka Agust D is the main Producer out of BTS) However all 7 members are Song Writers, Composers and Producers each to a lesser or greater degree.

Currently BTS and BTS ARMY are in our second chapter, as part of this second chapter SUGA has launched Suchwita or Drinking with SUGA, it is an interview show hosted by him where artists and specially BTS's member go to promote their works. Recently in it's 14th's episode, J-hope, another member of the band went and he said that SUGA was the inspiration and the person in charge of the most and main part sof the whole era of The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, which is THE era for BTS, so just keep in mind that he really like to show and tend to the vulnerable of himself, so his lyrics and music are always very straight forward.
Fun Fact, Man of Nowhere is the movie that got me into korean media, and another fun fact: The first time we have anything about SUGA is his review of Machine mk2 while sampling Man Of Nowhere OST!
By the way, did you watched Sucker Punch after Daewchita? I remember that I watched it because exactly of the cutscene that they were referring to, I love Bjork and that part was beautiful, and the movie great too.
