Something I always think about in regards to Finn's parents is that Minerva made Finn a hero, with her compassion and desire to help others whatever the cost, but Martin made Finn a survivor, someone who would always come out the other side regardless of the odds
Martin also gave Finn a way with words. I remember watching or reading something about how Finn has a silver tongue and can sometimes manipulate people. Like how he talked to Neptr after they found him while looking for robot parts to use against Flame Princess.

This brought tears to my eyes. This just reminds me the love I have for Adventure Time and the stories that kept me smiling throughout my teens. I needed this
I’m somewhat against the idea that Martin’s dickishness and lack of care for his son is a result of memory loss or brain damage. I think it’s much deeper to consider Martin’s behavior as a result of extreme guilt and regret. Causing him to repress the pain and memory of leaving Finn and Minerva. Going into this state of fear and wanting to run from the past would explain why he decided to go to space. And I have an idea for how that happened too. In the episode Ring of Fire, Tree Trunks recounts her adventurous life where we see her string of marriages and various careers. One of which was being a pirate captain of the ship “La Femme De La Mer” or “Woman of the Sea” in French. On her ship, she’s accompanied by her quartermaster named Mr. Faidutti. In the storyboard’s title card for the episode “Min and Marty” (not the actual title card used), there’s a depiction of Martin on board a large ship, bleeding from his head, with none other than Mr. Faidutti holding his fingers out to check for a concussion. Now bare with me here. We have to assume that Tree Trunks was captain of the ship at the time when Martin was rescued for what happens next to make sense. In the episode “High Strangeness”, it’s established that Tree Trunks has hybrid-alien children that come to visit her every few years. After Martin fought the Gaurdian, sustaining some kind of head injury, he was rescued by Tree Trunk’s pirate crew on board Le Femme De La Mer. Coincidentally, this was at the same time that her alien children came to visit her. Suffering deep pain and regret for abandoning Finn at sea, likely to die, and Minerva on the island without her child, Martin chose to run away from his past and get as far away from the islands as possible. That’s when he accompanied Tree Trunk’s alien children into space where he began his life as a cosmic criminal. After that it’s not clear what he did. Though we do know that a few years later, around the time Finn was five or so, Martin was in another solar system, (or even galaxy), onboard the galactic space colony, “The Drift”. This is where he took up the name “Mr. M” as established in the Distant Lands special “BMO”, and began his life as a space criminal by swindling the denizens of The Drift and scavenging it for parts alongside the former human Hugo. And you know the rest. Martin’s antics got out of hand and Billy, yes Billy, caught him and sent him to the Citadel. I’m hypothesizing this since Billy was the one who knew Martin was being kept in the Citadel, (despite it being in space somewhere) and told Finn after his death. I could go on and on about all the Martin appearances we see in Adventure Time and the deep psyche of this swindling con man, but it was never officially established how Martin got into space and I figured I’d share my two cents about it.
Kind of messed up that Finn is the only one who doesnt end up with someone.....I mean, a lot of the early show was him crushing on different princesses.
Hey #NerdWire, I've other interesting ideas for an Craig of the Creek video, a video talking/explaining about all the know locations at The Creek we've seen so far.
I surprised finn never continued his bloodline like you would think a great warrior/adventure would want to continue his bloodline or take a apprentice on atleast.
You know, the one thing I don't like about adventure time is how finn never knew his father isn't a bad guy... OK, *wasn't* a bad guy His story was legit about the raft and tiger
Not going to lie the founder's island or more specifically Minerva (Finn's mum) always tears me up Not sure how you properly spell his mum's name but I think that's how it is
1. It’d be a HUGE coincidence but maybe his dog parents just happened to give him the same name as his human parents. According to that one Hunson Abadeer book, that’s what happened 2. iirc the teddy bear that was on the raft w/ Baby Finn had a tag w/ his name on it. idk how it would’ve happened but maybe his first hat was made from that bear and Joshua and Margaret saw the tag. Again, not 100% sure on this
@@alexjewett7455 still it's up to the creators of the show to decide whether or not it was all in Finn's head or it did happened and Finn pretends that it didn't.

took me to make a horrible decision in my own life that affected every one of my relatives in an irreversible way to relate to Martin. I've pushed everyone away just the same because I feel like the further away i stay, the less of a chance I have to harm anyone I love. Moreover, In contrast to myself, Martin has Obviously stepped on more toes since the old lady and her tiger since he was in cosmic jail. this leads me to believe that Martin was very likely to be on the run yet again and doing his best to not involve Finn in order to keep him safe which would 100% makes sense that he chose to go with the comet. Martin is a good person who is human and prone to mistakes and forced to live a life in many gray areas. He is the prime example for alcoholics and addicts who genuinely believe they dont deserve better.
My head cannons for Martin's change: He became such a drastic man because he couldn't remember what he forgot. Similar to answering a math quiz and not knowing what you don't know kind of frustration but more, since it involves his life. To not remember his son, his wife or the life he led before. Maybe he remembered his con ways because of the familiarity and embraced it, fully. I think internally he has an idea of doing something drastic to save his son, but i guess that changed to doing something drastic to save *himself*. I guess he also thought of finn as himself, like part of himself for his thought process to go in that direction What breaks my heart the most is a man turning to good just to return to bad but much much worse when he did something praiseworthy. Maybe it's the potential he had but my heart really breaks from it. Martin is a heartbreaking character for his past but just the biggest asshole in AT, he's not even morally gray lmao
That’s what I think I think for most of his life if martians parents were like him being con artist he just felt it was natural as he did it for so long and met his wife and son for a year he probably just remember what he used to do and do that and when he sees this he tries to remember but can’t fully but feels happiness from and just goes along with it but it hurts him Because his mind reminds him they are ones who got him like this and just leaves so that he doesn’t do something he is gonna regret but wants finn to join him so they both can start a new path where they don’t have to be on earth
I just feel extremely sad that Minerva never knew the true reason why martin left the island. It makes me want to imagine an iteration where they were never separated in the first place or they found out the true reason after the show. :'(
It's weird thinking about what Finn would be like during the timeline of Adventure Time if he actually stayed on founder's island instead of getting lost in the forest in Ooo.
I just realized it, but Martin went nuts even without being cursed by the Ice King's Crown. It makes you wonder if Simon would've been able to keep it together even if the crown left him with his sanity for the next thousand years.
I never saw Grass Finn as evil, just a combination of misguided and bad luck. Heck even the grass demon is a creature in a bind. It's the spirit of a weapon made by a jerk that, up until it was fused with the fin sword, had been a loyal if clingy weapon to Finn.
I think that Martin in the BMO special is the reason why he was in The Crystal Citadel,Because he tried to destroy a whole planet and the BMO special is what happened in the past before BMO met Finn and Jake
Y’all… the reason they made a big deal about Finn falling in love with the caterpillar is his first reincarnation on earth was as a butterfly.. meaning he was a caterpillar first 😮 I love how much thought goes into world building in this show, I’ll always learn new things no matter how many years since it concluded.
I’ve always liked the fact that Finn always saw Joshua and Margret as his real parents, the ones who actually raised him. Their relationship makes me so happy
I like to think that Martin didn't lose his memories, rather he was so guilt driven and distraught over losing his son, his wife, and his home that he decided he would rather burn every bridge and lose his past than confront it. I think the whole idea that it was amnesia or brain damage really cheapens the character of Martin.
There are a few more episodes I would want to be made, like What happened to Finn's dad in the very very end, what happened to the rest of the humans that went to Ooo, and what was the final outcome of princess bubblegum? Is she in the giant gumball guardian? Because surely she wasn't expecting the candy people to free themselves, I imagine her on some space mission possibly, because I mean, it does seem as tho she can live forever
I wish I can see Finn the Human again. Make sure Martin and Minerva reunite again. Then we would see Finn and his family together again. I want to see more Finn and Jake. Make it after the Gum War and show us more of what has Finn and Jake and the others have been doing after the Gum War. Have the humans from the islands mini series interacting with people of Ooo like the Candy people.
If you see some of the drawn art For the episode where Finn learns about his life from his dad it’s a picture of his dad with blood coming from his head on a pirate ship with a towel touching his head meaning he was badly hurt

Damn I litterally crying how minerva feels
9:21 ahhh the feels
I find it to be one of the weirdest things that some people ship Fin and Fern.

Not going to lie the founder's island or more specifically Minerva (Finn's mum) always tears me up
Not sure how you properly spell his mum's name but I think that's how it is
Wait wait wait... How did finn know his name, how did Jake's parents know his name??????? How did anyone know his name????????
1. It’d be a HUGE coincidence but maybe his dog parents just happened to give him the same name as his human parents. According to that one Hunson Abadeer book, that’s what happened
2. iirc the teddy bear that was on the raft w/ Baby Finn had a tag w/ his name on it. idk how it would’ve happened but maybe his first hat was made from that bear and Joshua and Margaret saw the tag.
Again, not 100% sure on this
I mean somehow his polar bear stuff toy was cut and turn to a hat for him so someone must have taken care of him
I'm like 90% sure the pillow world thing never actually happened.

@@estebangutierrez160 I know, but she's acting like it actually happened.

I stopped watching adventure time around when the first few seasons were out cause I unfortunately grew up, but man I missed so much. I had no idea the story expanded WAY far out and I’m considering revisiting the series 👌🏻

took me to make a horrible decision in my own life that affected every one of my relatives in an irreversible way to relate to Martin.
Is it weird that almost half of this vid was about Fin’s human father?
My head cannons for Martin's change:
He became such a drastic man because he couldn't remember what he forgot.
I guess he also thought of finn as himself, like part of himself for his thought process to go in that direction
What breaks my heart the most is a man turning to good just to return to bad but much much worse when he did something praiseworthy. Maybe it's the potential he had but my heart really breaks from it. Martin is a heartbreaking character for his past but just the biggest asshole in AT, he's not even morally gray lmao
That’s what I think
I think for most of his life if martians parents were like him being con artist he just felt it was natural as he did it for so long and met his wife and son for a year he probably just remember what he used to do and do that and when he sees this he tries to remember but can’t fully but feels happiness from and just goes along with it but it hurts him Because his mind reminds him they are ones who got him like this and just leaves so that he doesn’t do something he is gonna regret but wants finn to join him so they both can start a new path where they don’t have to be on earth
Im early to a good youtube video for once in my 23 years of living.
Ok this video made me very sad
Yeah since it's been awhile I forgot how Adventure time can hit the emotions.
I lived only 14 years and byfar this is the best video
I wanna see Finn as a young adult and the adventures that come along with it, instead of making an off series 😢
What an informative video. I like it.
Did the comet ask the moth if it wants a new existence too? Cuz the comet just plucked the moth out of existence without reason
I just realized it, but Martin went nuts even without being cursed by the Ice King's Crown. It makes you wonder if Simon would've been able to keep it together even if the crown left him with his sanity for the next thousand years.

Y’all gotta add my boy Tiffany to the list, he’s Finn and Jake’s adopted brother (in death) now.

I never saw Grass Finn as evil, just a combination of misguided and bad luck. Heck even the grass demon is a creature in a bind. It's the spirit of a weapon made by a jerk that, up until it was fused with the fin sword, had been a loyal if clingy weapon to Finn.

Swell video as always my pal😊🥰👍💯💕💞💖
Y’all… the reason they made a big deal about Finn falling in love with the caterpillar is his first reincarnation on earth was as a butterfly.. meaning he was a caterpillar first 😮 I love how much thought goes into world building in this show, I’ll always learn new things no matter how many years since it concluded.
I’ve always liked the fact that Finn always saw Joshua and Margret as his real parents, the ones who actually raised him. Their relationship makes me so happy
That’s why Finn is scared of the ocean
14:33 WAIT I DIDN'T KNOW WE SAW THAT BIG BOI WAY BACK TO THIS EPISODE, I THOUGHT HE DIDN'T EXIST YET FROM A MAKING OF THE SHOW PERSPECTIVE

I don’t really consider Fern an offspring, it’s him, but if we have to consider him a family member he’s more like a twin brother.
I'm surprised that many people didn't comment about finn's pillow son and daughter are married
What could they comment? That they were or something in the variaty of " I can't think of it"
Sweet home Alabama
I love how Finn got his kindness and caring nature from his mom and his survivability and grit from his dad
I guess you could say that Fern is a literal family tree
