Amen! God is amazing. I can't imagine the impact of being chosen by God to bring in the Messiah. Joseph and Mary I assume being well versed in the Old Testament. That would be so beyond scope. To be able to honor and glorify God in such a way. Of course, we all know Jesus was a good baby, and a joy to raise.
Not much is known on Joseph other than his genealogy, his trade and being betrothed to Mary. We read about his dream and the message from the angel...but it was not his words. Perhaps he told this to Mary after his dream? Was it Mary's retelling to the disciples and they then wrote it down making sure it was documented? Nothing else is mentioned about Joseph but we know that he did not leave Mary's side and that he kept the Savior Child safe. I would have liked to hear more about Joseph, but I guess the story isn't about him but rather the Savior Child.
@Running_with_Faith 🌿 You bring up a great point, and I’ve often wondered some of the same things about Joseph. Scripture doesn’t give us much detail about his life, but what we do see speaks volumes about his character. He was obedient to God’s call (Matthew 1:24), faithful in protecting Mary and Jesus (Matthew 2:13-15), and quietly fulfilled his role in God’s plan without needing recognition. As for how Joseph’s dream and the angel’s message were recorded, it’s possible Mary shared these events with the disciples, as she likely would have remembered them vividly. Luke 2:19 tells us that Mary “treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart,” which suggests she was deeply reflective about these moments and might have shared them later. You’re right-the story ultimately centers on the Savior, but Joseph’s quiet faithfulness and obedience remind us that even those who seem to have a smaller role in God’s story are incredibly important. Thank you, as always, for sharing your thoughts-it’s such a blessing to reflect on these details together! 🙏✨
