Wish they did would be easier to get here. The Tusk tires are stupid expensive to ship from Rocky Mountain ATV, I got quoted $1034 the cheapest option! Bought the tusk through a Canadian Dealer and they end up not being any cheaper than any other tire.
I agree with your take on rocking the most aggressive tires you can stand on road. Solid advice. Also Rocky Mountain is just a good company overall. I've bought thousands in gear from them and never been dissatisfied. They bring tons of value and accessibility along with that to our community.
Thank you Ben for this great review, being in Canada I have ordered from Rocky Mountain. I can order the tires. Yeah there is a bit of difference in getting them here but the price difference is massive. Thanks very much for your great review and best of luck to little dork in college.
I have a set of Tusk Waypoint Adventure tires on my Transalp and I love them. Tusk offers great value while still offering a great product. The Waypoint tires have been great on the street and offer excellent traction off road. I was going to get a set of 2 tracks but they had their recall going on at that time and I wanted to give them some time to get it sorted out so I went with the Waypoint tires. Now that they have the 2 tracks all good to go again, I might get a set when my current tires wear out. It's either going to be the Waypoint tires or 2 tracks as you can't beat the value and quality of a Tusk tire. Thank you Ben for making another great video and happy new year!
Just put a set of waypoints on my T7 two days ago. Got to try them out yesterday. Super pleased with them. Probably going to be my go-to for a long time.
Just bought one for my KLR using your link. I have been researching for a new rear tire so your review was well timed. I have a set of Anakee Adventures on now but I’m planning for the NEBDR and wanted to go with a bit more aggressive tread. Thanks Ben!
$130 for a solid ADV tire is a killer deal! My first one was recalled due to possible material curing issues which could have led to the tire deconstructing or something. I already had over 4,000 miles on it when I got the notice; Rocky Mountain ATV sent me a new tire as well as a $100 pre paid Visa card to cover the cost of installation, which I do myself. Turned into the best deal ever !!! 😁
I’ve been running these tires for a while now and your opinion and assessment is spot on to my own opinion and assessment. The only thing I would add and it’s totally based on my riding style is that the front starts to cup pretty bad at 3k miles but I am really hard on this thing on the black top on my T7 and no tire holds up to that kind of abuse. 😂 I will definitely be sticking with this tire though. Great review!!
Love ya Ben, but I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree to your statement of these being “premium” tires. Besides my experience with losing multiple center lugs on multiple of these rear tires(before and AFTER recall)… their performance when you actually push these tires and get on the side of the knobs is terrible and almost downright dangerous. I see you point out that they have the outer lugs connected to the center lug providing some stability on the side of the tire, but it’s only 1 in every 3 whereas the MotoZ tires have every single outer lug connected to a center lug providing much more stability on the side of the tire whether you are on pavement or in loose stuff like deep sand, mud, etc… The traction difference might not be noticeable to 85% of riders, but those of us in the 15% will notice these tires are incredibly lacking and dangerous when pushed.
I have a set of these on my Honda Transalp and love them. Only thing i can complain about is how heavy they are. But its a compromise, I can tolerate the weight for the extra strength and durability. I also did a tubless conversion on the rear wheel. As spooning these things is a real challenge. I would rather plug and go than struggle with spoons while in the bush.
Hey man love your input on this! I'm almost 60 and getting back into riding. Retired motocross guy in my 20's n 30's. Raised a family blah blah blah lol I'm looking at the Honda xr650l as my buddy has a tw 200 and your knowledge is priceless bro, thank you so much! I would love to ride with you someday! You Rock!
3000 miles on a set of them on my Tuareg 660, including most of the AZBDR (ROCKS) with no issues! Great tires, I will buy them again! Keep the good stuff coming sir, and Happy New Year to the whole Dork family!
@@terrywest5735 I am thinking about getting a set for my ‘23 Tuareg 660. My last set of tires were Trailmax Missions and they do very well in terms of mileage but I experienced a bit of a high speed weave around 90 mph. Have you ridden at high speed with these tires? What kind of overall mileage do you expect to get out of them?
@@robertjimenez929 The front does have a tendency to follow the grooves in a cut highway slightly at 70+ mph but not alarmingly. When I noticed it worse was when I was fully loaded with my camping gear. I believe a better set of front fork springs would alleviate that issue. I expect no less than 5K miles out of these. The rear pulled me out of a nasty uphill on loose rocky terrain on the AZBDR after I stalled the motor in a very bad spot.
One comment strikes home, (paraphrasing)“run the most aggressive tire you can get away with” This past Saturday I was on a deep sand road in the Ocala National Forest, following a friend on his CRF450RL, on my KLR outfitted with Trailmax Raids. I ride sand a good bit… and I’m fairly competent, or at least I thought so 😂 One instant I’m two hours into a great ride, the next the front tucks and I’m down with my Forma Adventure clad foot facing backward and trapped under the bike, with three fractures in my right leg, along with torn ligaments. That was a really fun ride home…. but as the song says, “If you’re gonna be dumb you better be tough.” 😂 Now I’m watching UA-cam while awaiting surgery next Thursday to install some permanent hardware in my right ankle. These will be the next tire on my SWM. Nobody can really say much bad about them other than mounting them can be a nightmare. Thank you for your opinions!
Amen to having the high end companies become more competitive…In Canada, at least, the higher end tires are just stupid expensive…Thanks for the great review!
7:00 - I do my own maintenance so you finally got to the important part for me. The stiff side walls. "Mounting is..." [video jump cut edit] "...Ffffun." Yeah, I bet there was at least one other F word in there. I don't air down off road so I'm using the Shinko 804/805 tires, but it sounds like the Tusk 2 Track is better when paying someone else to mount tires. This is almost enough to make me want to invest in a motorcycle tire mounter.
Most Canadians live within 60 miles of the border. Find a drop shipping company at your nearest border town and have it shipped there for free. Returns can be a bit of a pain but I've done this a bunch especially with clothing as clothing will almost always be hit with duty. I live in Calgary so it's 3ish hours to the border but can still be worth it especially with larger orders. I personally use Montana Shipping Outlet but there are many options
I do the same in Ontario, but only 1hr from the border. It's the over the border shipping that's the issue. Taxes are what they collect at the border. Same at any store.
Run the Tusk 2 Track on the front of my 890r. The tire felt vague on the gravel aided to 35 psi. I had to drop pressure down to 15’ish psi. To get a confident feel. After 2000’ish miles they had worn so uneven my bike sounded like an air raid siren. I only had the front since the rears where all on recall at the time I bout the tires.
I used the tusk two tracks on my 890 last summer, and they were ok. The front is absolute garbage. Totally cupped and wore super uneven. The rear tire, for the money, is actually very good. For the money. I definitely wouldn’t call them a premium tire. But they are very good for the money.
Having used both, I can verify the Motoz tires will go twice as far and often a little more than the Tusk. Given you have to change the TUSK more often, even if not twice as often, I kinda think the Motoz are a better price in the long run. Something a potential buyer should consider. I should add, both were used mostly off-road. I am not sure if the on-road results will be the same. But hey, if you have to live paycheck to paycheck, the Tusks are a good choice.
I have the 2 trac rear on my tenere. I’ve had a chance to try it in all sorts of conditions and it works well. My main complaint is the fact that it’s so stiff, I likely would never be able to do a trailside change if I got a flat. It’s seems like it would be a safer bet to try and run it flat until I get to a main road , which there’s videos of others doing.
I went with waypoint on the rear and 2track on the front. The front tire is REALLY hard to mount, it'll be tough to fix a flat. To be fair, it might be easier once it's 1/2 worn out.
I've been running the rear D-Sport on my KTM 450 since 2020 and my DR-Z 400S since I think 2021. They are a good tire, but I don't think they last as long as a D606. However, at the price point, it's not that big of an issue for me. I ordered a Tusk Waypoint for the DR-Z4S I expect to get this spring or summer - I'll get it as soon as it shows up at my local dealer. I'm sticking with the MT-21 on the front.
Im curious about these. AFAIK there are no Canadian tire distributors that carry Tusk tires. Currently, im a fan of Motoz Adventure rear/Dual Venture front, which are similar to the Rallz but offer VASTLY better mileage - like twice as much or more - which makes them a much better value than the Rallz as youre doing upwards of 10k on a set. Still, I'd happily try the Tusks just to see. If i could get 75% of the Adventure mileage at 50% of the price thats still a great value.
Made a mistake buying shinko 705 front for africa twin. Tire is out of round. They need more info to warranty it. Cheaper to change tires. Might try that tire.
Ya, i got one of those too, I thought it was out of balance (badly), but a bad tire, way cheap, but not good. The one I put on the back is okay, but I chucked the front one.
I'm always surprised how many people focus on longevity. I'm more into dualsport riding, and 5000 km on a rear and 3000 km on a front (because front knobs wear funny) is acceptable. But I'm also not wearing them down to the cords... ;)
I would like better side lugs on the front tire. My last set of of Tusk tires were too hard and heavy. No flex, sucked in rain, but wore like iron. Currently running Motoz adventure tires. I can't see the small price difference making me switch to Tusk.
How does it compare in the wet with the Motoz? Motoz claim to have a high silica content that helps with wet roads. Does the Tusk stand up to the Motoz on the bitamin?
I have a pair of these tires sitting in my garage. I am just waiting for the Scorpion's to wear out. Thanks for the review. I was waiting for your thoughts in them. After months of having the 790, do you still like the bike?
I can only compare them to motoz rallz. They are half as loud as the motoz. The front tire is a little loud at lower speeds but still not as loud as the motoz
@dorkintheroad : 2 track adv or waypoint for my 300 rally? I ride it like a small adv bike and rarely do much more offroad than dirt roads to get to a camping spot. Basically looking for great on road, beginner bdr capable
Steer it with the rear wheel! Keeps the front from trying to tuck (or washout). When the front starts to slide, grab some throttle and turn to the opposite side you are leaning. If you let off the throttle, it loads the front more, it "tucks" faster.
@@DorkintheRoad street tires that also can do offroad are 70/30 (or 80/20) like the Shinko 705, while the Trailmax Mission tires are 50/50 so... NOT street tires!!
i would go with the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires. And Dork is wrong about the Trailmax Mission tires being street tires. They are 50/50 and fully capable in offroad environment. But don't take my word for it. Check out this very good unbiased tires review from Chaparral Motorsports : ua-cam.com/video/gjtgLz1LjnE/v-deo.html
you don't need to worrie about international costs with these, rocky mountain does not do international delivery, just us and EU, I cant get em to send to me, and I even contacted them to ask, and they have no interest at all doing international deliveries :(
Maybe I'm weird but I feel like psychology is working against me with these tires. I think the incredible price point makes me pause and wonder if I shouldn't be bargain shopping for something so important. It's all in my head but I think I would find them more palatable if they were only slightly less expensive than the competition. I don't go out and find the lowest priced surgeon when I need a life-saving operation, why would I go with the lowest cost surgeon for an elective surgery where thing could go wrong and why would I trust that the lowest cost Adv tires really are stellar despite their unbelievably low price point. I think that's what Tusk is up against with these. People are used to getting what they pay for.
When doing business in China, every Chinese company works for the Party. There is no private industry in China. All intellectual property is subject to seizure. You want to do business in China? You give them your technology. So it’s nice that Tusk engineered these tires. The consequence is that now China owns it, too, and will do with it what they like.
@DorkintheRoad I asked Rocky mountain's customer service support about it several weeks ago and they said there's nothing planned for that which made me sad.
I run these on a T7. Just finished a 6500 mile tour through the upper mid west. On and off road throughout. Loved them! They Still have a lot of life in them. Money well spent. ua-cam.com/video/7SDZwM04xQM/v-deo.htmlsi=i-Z8FEsFnx3FmJf1
I have a set on my T7 and sorry but really do not like them. First of all, terribly hard to install. On road, kind of quiet. Front is ok but rear is not stable at all. Off road, they are not better than the stock Pirelli STR for off road you will do with an ADV bike, not exceptionnal traction . They are extremely heavy and you feel it. Maybe cheap but forget trail repair and they are just ok on and off road.
Just remember.. if you have honey installed and you use it, dork will lose his affiliate link money. Instead of going to his daughters tuition it will go to some soulless corporation that basically just scams creators.
Come on, UA-camrs. There's no excuse for pronouncing a product or brand name differently than the companies themselves do. Motorcycle Australia Motorcycle Oz Moto Oz Motoz - mow-tozz
Over priced?…….maybe. Over hyped?……tell me you haven't run them without telling me you haven't run them. I'm extremely satisfied in the Rallz performance on my twin.
I wouldn't call these tires "The BEST value" with only 4-5K miles for the rear at $129 when there is out there the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires (50/50) at about $200 capable of doing well over 10k miles. Some have reached 15k miles !! And the longevity of the Trailmax isn't the only good thing. Your review is fine but the chosen title is clearly not. Have you ever tried the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires ??
@@DorkintheRoad wouldn't want to argue with you, and i don't know what your definition of "street tire" is, but the Trailmax Mission tires do not fall under the category of "street tires". They may "look" a lot more like street tires than trail tires because they are not knobby BUT that doesn't make them street tires. They are 50/50. A few years back, Kyle from Chaparral Motorsports made an Adventure Tire Shootout comparing 25 Top Performing ADV or Dual Sport Tires... and the Trailmax Mission tires are in there + finished 2nd in the 50/50 section. Here is the link : ua-cam.com/video/gjtgLz1LjnE/v-deo.html Oh and btw, i also do not like to ride my ADV bike with street tires ;) Have a good 2025 year and stay safe.

I can only compare them to motoz rallz. They are half as loud as the motoz. The front tire is a little loud at lower speeds but still not as loud as the motoz
They're noisier than the raids but less noisy than the Motoz in my experience
how does it do on the biggest weakness of aggressive but long lasting tyres: wet cold asphalt?
covered that in the video...it's near the end
@@DorkintheRoad lol, of course my dumb ass skipped over it. Good stuff!
For the European viewers: The Heidenau K60 Ranger is comparable... the Tusk 2 Track ADV is not (or only hard to get) available in Europe.
@dorkintheroad : 2 track adv or waypoint for my 300 rally? I ride it like a small adv bike and rarely do much more offroad than dirt roads to get to a camping spot. Basically looking for great on road, beginner bdr capable
The front is sketchy on lose surfaces.. I don't mind the rear, because drifting is fun.
Steer it with the rear wheel! Keeps the front from trying to tuck (or washout). When the front starts to slide, grab some throttle and turn to the opposite side you are leaning. If you let off the throttle, it loads the front more, it "tucks" faster.
lol you're not wrong
And here I was just thinking about what new wheels to get for my cb500x lol
This vs Trailmax Missions?
@@pedrovazquez9146 Tusk if you do any gravel or off road
Mission is a street tire that'll do some offroad. These are offroad tires that you can use on the street. Big difference.
Happy New Year! Is KTM going bankrupt?
Sort of?
My 2010 r1200gsa has 150/70 r17s. When I go on rockymt atv they don’t recommend this tire for my bike even though they have this size. Any idea why?
Thank you
Tractionator are way way better everywhere.
For the price, they better be.
you don't need to worrie about international costs with these, rocky mountain does not do international delivery, just us and EU, I cant get em to send to me, and I even contacted them to ask, and they have no interest at all doing international deliveries :(
Rocky Mountain ATV MC does ship to Canada. I normally have stuff just shipped to the border but I've ordered direct from them several times.
The rear stepping out easily is a pro, not a con. 😂
Motoz are made in Oz, not Z. IJS...
did I say where they were made?
@DorkintheRoad I mean pronounced Oz as in Australia. That's why the name Motoz.
Personally, I’m a fan of Tusk Dsport tires and will continue buying them. I’ve owned the Motoz and won’t purchase them again.
Dude, you're an excellent reviewer. We're not worthy.....
That's very nice of you to say ;)
@@DorkintheRoadNo, I'm just pointing out what should already be obvious and making a Wayne's World reference. But, don't let it go to your head. 😂
If only the fronts were available in 19"...I know Im not a cool kid because I don't have a 21", but there's more than a few of us out here.
Maybe eventually?
@DorkintheRoad I asked Rocky mountain's customer service support about it several weeks ago and they said there's nothing planned for that which made me sad.
I run these on a T7. Just finished a 6500 mile tour through the upper mid west. On and off road throughout. Loved them! They Still have a lot of life in them. Money well spent.
ua-cam.com/video/7SDZwM04xQM/v-deo.htmlsi=i-Z8FEsFnx3FmJf1
These tires have nearly no rubber in them. They are really bad in the cold and wet.
Ktm bump

There is always somebody complaining, how about just take the free information and move on.
The original poster should demand his money back. I appreciate Dork’s appraisal of this tire
Come on, UA-camrs. There's no excuse for pronouncing a product or brand name differently than the companies themselves do.
Motorcycle Australia
Motorcycle Oz
Moto Oz
Motoz - mow-tozz
Motoz is pronounced "OverpricedHype”😂
I have. They're great street tires. I don't like running street tires on my ADV bikes. Your mileage may (literally) vary
Here is the link : ua-cam.com/video/gjtgLz1LjnE/v-deo.html
Oh and btw, i also do not like to ride my ADV bike with street tires ;)
Have a good 2025 year and stay safe.
