In this film I'll show you why it's better to use a semi-automatic autotuber than a normal belay device. Autotubers only have advantages. Especially when belaying your body on the ground, when climbing multi-rope lengths and when abseiling. Prusik is no longer necessary when abseiling. I've been using the Edelrid Giga Jul for over 5 years, it's a great belay device, especially because you can also use a double rope. Now, however, the Climbing Technology, the Alpin Up Autotube, has the edge. Check out my review:

In diesem Film zeige ich dir, wieso du besser einen Halbautomaten sprich ein Autotuber als einer normales Sicherungsgerät. Autotuber haben nur Vorteile. Vor allem bei der Köpersicherung am Boden, beim Klettern von Mehrseillängen und beim Abseilen. Beim Abseilen ist kein Prusik mehr nötig. Ich setze das Edelrid Giga Jul schon über 5 Jahre ein, das ist ein tolles Sicherungsgerät, vor allem weil man auch ein Doppelseil verwenden kann. Nun hat jedoch das Climbing Technology, das Alpin Up Autotube die Nase vorn. Schaue mein Test dazu:

Danke für den Test! Habe mich deswegen für das Alpine up entschieden
sehr cool - ich find den super und ich brauche nur noch den.
Ich seile meistens mit Autotube ohne Prusik ab das spart Zeit und bis jetzt hatte ich noch keine Zwischenfälle. In der Regel kennst du ja deine Seile und Durchmesser und du weisst wie der Alpine Up reagiert. Wenn ich andere Seile habe und noch nicht genau weiss wie er reagiert, mache ich einfach zuerst in das abseil Seil einen Knopf weiter untern zur Sicherheit. Auch beim sichern meines Partner fühle ich mich sehr sicher, den der Autotube ist sowas wie ein Backup. Vor allem bei schwereren Partner ist das auch sehr hilfreich.
Ein weiterer Tip um Zeit zu sparen und wenn man nicht gerne schraubt.
Ich verwende immer den Grivel Mega Twin Gate - ich klettere schon über 6 Jahre mit diesn Karabiner und hatte noch nie einen Zwischenfall.
Somit vergesse ich nie zu Schrauben und der Karabiner ist so sicher wie ein Schraubkarabiner. Den Alpine Up habe ich einfach etwas ausfeilen müssen, dann da passen ja nur die Schraubkarabiner von denen ich absolut kein Fan bin weil ich immer vergesse zu schrauben :-))

I've been using these two devices for several years, and totally agree with the summary given. I've also used the mega (and micro jul with 7.5mm ropes). I have come to the conclusion that the Alpine up is the best all round device, although its is quite a bit heavier at 150grams. If I want to save weight I use the mega jul. The Alpine up is great in Guide mode, with much less drag than the giga, and particularly the mega jul. Alpine Up is by far the best for abseiling; very safe, and climbing back up. Several friends have found these devices difficult to get used to, but I found them intuitive and easy to use. I think some bad reviews come from people who just don't get on with them. All gear needs to be used with care and understanding. I haven't used an ATC or normal tuber for around 8 to 10 years! A good video, well done. These devices, when used in guide mode, make it very quick and easy to set up a 3:1 assist for a second.

Ich benutze diese beiden Geräte seit mehreren Jahren und stimme der gegebenen Zusammenfassung voll und ganz zu. Ich habe auch den Mega-Jul (und den Micro-Jul mit 7,5-mm-Seilen) verwendet. Ich bin zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass das Alpine up das beste Allroundgerät ist, obwohl es mit 150 Gramm deutlich schwerer ist. Wenn ich Gewicht sparen möchte, verwende ich den Mega Jul. Der Alpine Up ist im Guide-Modus großartig, mit viel weniger Luftwiderstand als der Giga und insbesondere der Mega Jul. Alpine Up eignet sich mit Abstand am besten zum Abseilen; sehr sicher, und es geht wieder hinauf. Mehrere Freunde fanden es schwierig, sich an diese Geräte zu gewöhnen, aber ich fand sie intuitiv und einfach zu bedienen. Ich denke, einige schlechte Bewertungen kommen von Leuten, die damit einfach nicht klarkommen. Die gesamte Ausrüstung muss mit Sorgfalt und Verständnis verwendet werden. Ich habe seit etwa 8 bis 10 Jahren keine ATC- oder normale Knolle mehr verwendet! Ein gutes Video, gut gemacht. Wenn diese Geräte im Guide-Modus verwendet werden, ist es sehr schnell und einfach, eine 3:1-Unterstützung für eine Sekunde einzurichten.

I have used an alpine up for some time, and generally, I like it. It's especially nice on thin diuble ropes (7.8mm in my case).
Two things I don't like as much:
* The guide mode attachment hole blocks or almost blocks rope insertion. That is, you can't hang it up and then put your rope(s) in.
* It doesn't love old thick ropes...

Hast du das Alpine Up nun auch draußen beim Klettern getestet? Was sind die Vor- und Nachteile?
Ja, es funktioniert auch draussen. Ein grosser Vorteil ist für mich die Grösse. Es liegt super in der Hand und ein kleineres Gerät wünsch ich mir gar nicht mehr. Zudem ist es sehr einfach zu bedienen und Fehler kann man kaum machen. Grosser Vorteil ist das abseilen ohne Prusik und es funktioniert auch bei dünnen Seilen. Damit es gut läuft kannst du einfach einen zweiten Biner reinhängen wie beschrieben. Zudem schätze ich den Autotuber, den ich fast immer verwende. Wie schnell musst du mal das Seil richten am Boden oder bist unachtsam. Somit ist dein Partner jede Sekunde sicher.
Einziger Nachteil - nicht jeder Karabiner geht in das Gerät. Ich finde das Teil top.

It would be interesting too see which one feeds smoother in guide mode belay. With some rope drag most plates are terrible to pull rope through.
And lowering in guide mode should be shown with weight on the rope. Because with most it's almost impossible to lever a carabineer enough.

Does alpine up lock up easily when giving rope quickly? Read the clickup+ have this problem
thanks for asking - no there are no problems - giving rope is a pleasure - and no problems with different rope diameters - wish you nice climbs

Ich habe noch nicht das Problem mit dem "Fixpoint with Front Biner" verstanden. Wird hier der Kletterer abgelassen oder ist man als Kletterer im Vorstieg?

hoaving owned both I can't agree, I found the CT Alpine up very clunky, bulky and fussy with thicker ropes
According to other videos, those two belay devices are pretty bad. If you are looking for an alpine belay device, I hear the Mega Jul is better than the Giga Jul. The Click Up just has too many bad reviews that giving it the benefit of the doubt is a high risk.
So what are you writing there?
The Mega Jul is a hundred times worse than the Giga Jul.
I've tried both and there's no mention of Click Up at all.
My film is about the Alpine Up, which I also tried and it is even better than the Giga Jul.
