    I imagine Mnemosyne as some kind of librarian who oversees a library full of memories alongside the goddess Lethe.

    What I read is, in regards to the Ancient Greek take on reincarnation, souls readying to be reborn had to choose which body of water to drink, Mnemosyne's or Lethe's; the souls are supposed to drink from Lethe's waters, forget their old life so that they could be reborn as blank slates. After-which, said-soul would be sent to the Moon, then allowed to descend back-down to the mortal world to be reborn. But, if you could drink from Mnemosyne's waters, instead, you would be reborn remembering *Everything* about their previous life...

    Just wanted to say, I appreciate all the art you organize, and history you summarize for us. Diving into the waters of numerous cultures, including my own, is much less daunting, when we have a stable voice to hear, and plenty of imagery to work with.
    I hope you aren't too put off by people who passionately oppose your statements. They're expecting you to give one version of the truth, but records are never so concise.
    I would love to know where you are getting the information you tell us, though, since I want to compile some of it, myself. I think other people would be interested in knowing where you're coming from, too. If you'd ever consider adding sources to your description, that'd be fantastic.

      Very. Far from simply the ability to recall past experiences, memory is arguably one of, if not THE ultimate preserver. Like her brother Cronus and sister Rhea, Mnemosyne was a goddess of time, as it is through memory time remains immortal.
      Philostratus, Life of Apollonius of Tyana 1. 14 (trans. Conybeare) (Greek biography C1st to C2nd A.D.) :
      "When he [Apollonios of Tyana, pagan prophet C1st A.D.] reached the age of a hundred, he still surpassed Simonides in point of memory, and he used to chant a hymn addressed *to Mnemosyne (Memory),* in which it is said that *everything is worn and withered away by time, whereas time itself never ages, but remains immortal because of memory."*

    She is the mother of Athena, there is an oracle foretell that Zeus would be over thrown like Chronos by the child from Zeus, himself, and Mnemosyne. So Zeus repeats what Chronos has done before. He swallows Mnemosyne, soon Zeus has severe headache, too severe he has to ask God of Smithe use axe to split the head, then Athena as we know were born.

    There was a very dark/controversial anime call Rin daughter of mnemosyne, it was controversial because of is displayed of sexuality and violence blended together to the point where its clearly BDSM and torture porn. However despite this as the title of the of the anime states "daughter of mnemosyne" the central theme of the anime is all about creating memories with people and valuing your life's memories. Despite its controversy I actually enjoy the anime and it would have been more popular if the anime didn't depicte violence and sex together. The anime also one of the rare storytelling that brings the subject of immortality as its central plot point, which immortality is a subject that i find very fond of. This video reminds me of the anime 🙂

      @@Copperkaiju Never said she was mentioned in the Bible; only that there's "quite a few similarities to biblical accounts", ie, references/concepts; similar statements/details to compare - as these relate to similar nuggets and parallels from each story's respective accounts.
      Pertaining similarities (in brief) and supporting commentary found:
      circa 18(?) 🤔
      Similarities between Greek mythology and Biblical accounts touched in this episode:
      Here we go - a deeper dive...🧐😁
      0:41
      This would be fallen angels and their offspring; the Nephilim - at a time where the presiding mentioned was all corruption all over the Earth.
      @0:56
      Fallen angels (known as "gods", "demigods", these latter aka "heroes" to the Greeks) who taught metallurgy, etc, etc to humanity.
      @1:40
      In regard to Mnemosyne:
      "A Titaness": a child of the personification of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaea (Earth) ie, a Nephilim...a half angel-half human hybrid (Heaven and Earth) creature (an aberration before the Lord), the heroes of old, the "men of renown", etc.
      @1:45
      "...from the times before dominance of Zeus".
      Biblically:
      A third of the angels rebelled against God heavily influenced by Lucifer (Satan). These fallen angels ("gods" to the Greeks, "sons of God" in the Bible) proceeded to have children with women (daughters of men) thus giving birth to Titans (Nephilim). As such we can easily delineate that Mnemosyne (if she existed at all) was a Nephilim. The leader was Zeus which could easily be Satan (if so, possibly one of many personifications of the same failed being, a rebranding) or one of his per se; lieutenants/subservients in the hierarchy, off to play "God" across the globe with false teaching.
      @2:38-3:02
      ie, All knowledge of good and evil, virtues, traits attributed to the "gods" as gifts to humankind.
      Biblically:
      Goodness comes from Him.
      Imperfection from unholiness.
      Greek mythology:
      Negative traits are a reflection of the gods themselves...thus providing mankind the excuses to misbehave, up to a certain degree (ie, these "gods" are unholy and therefore, none of them are much less; "the" God). They're mere usurpers not a replacement.
      Greek mythology:
      Humans can pick and choose what is good and what is bad.
      Biblically:
      Freewill
      Oral history proceeded to be written down, each nation/group according to their understanding/interpretation of once shared memories, developing various brands of religion and creeds, etc.
      @3:02
      Cronus (perhaps Satan) ruled supreme, usurped his father Uranus (perhaps God) some semblance of peace in which humans and gods lived side by side in harmony.
      ☝️That last bit is the inverse of the Biblical account, which underlines the total corruption of the land thus soliciting a Deluge to cleanse it...of all corruption.
      @3:27
      Cronus aka Saturn (possibly Satan) leads his fellow rebel "gods" (angels) and demigods (lesser gods, ie, Nephilim) against the Olympians (perhaps God and his angels...and, loses in reality but claims victory to create his own narrative, perhaps rebranding himself as Zeus: the son (Zeus) defeating the father (God). But in reality, God defeated the "son". The Nephilim are destroyed. End of the first Nephilim era, so to say. Perhaps this is what the Titanomachy refers to in the (I think) misconstrued Greek version of events... Perhaps another event? Who knows.
      ☝️Reference, Gen: 6:4
      "There were giants in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."
      👉That denotes two Nephilim ages.
      Biblically:
      Satan tried to usurp God's power.
      God defeats Satan.
      Given all that, to me; Greek mythology is a corrupted account of mostly real events from long ago...a misinterpretation of oral history.
      @3:56
      At this timestamp, it's made clear Zeus is only a god but not "the God"...particularly @4:06
      @5:17
      After the flood; the second Nephilim era arrives.
      @5:38
      Perhaps this is how they "took them for marriage"
      @6:16
      This harkens back to the gods and demigods teaching humankind crafts and virtues. Muses.
      @7:57
      Another possible attempt at rebranding...forgetting about the failures of the past. For without the use of memory as a guide, a new narrative is effectively set in motion; lacking needed context to retain truth - which is another way of "sticking it" to God by the fallen angels and offspring.
      Similarly today, as one example:
      the same mechanics are applied by most evidently; the Trump supporter, whom excuse everything about him, proclaiming him as good, a Christlike "Cyrus". January 6th, etc, etc. All while knowing and accepting in interviews how awful he is but hey, "as long as we stick it to the Dems!" 👈
      @8:10
      This is basically a restating of the fallen angels' (Greek gods) and offspring (Titans, Giants, ie, Nephilim) desire to supplant God from being the "eternal God" to them being the "eternal gods".
      @8:21
      Exactly!
      Hook, line, and sinker.
      As long as human beings don't remember with accuracy: 'they're ours, we've won by leading them away from God through obfuscation!'
      @8:47
      Vaguely similar to drinking from the "water of life".
      @12:55
      Taking this timestamp into account; regarding misattribution of virtues: mission accomplished!
      To thank false gods instead of "the God" is in err.
      It simply asserts that the corruption campaign targeting humans by these higher entities has been successful if not almost absolute.
      @13:43-14:06
      Ouch!
      And that's how we got here, confused about history; the uncertainty of what it is and what it's not. We've become lazy over the millennia. Oral history is not to be dismissed. Biblical oral history has proven reliable, for example.
      @14:08
      This supports the above assertion regarding the veracity of oral tradition as proven by scholarly erudites.

      @@elram2649, I appreciate the breakdown of similarities. I think, however, its inaccurate to portray one interpretation of these stories as more or less accurate than any other. They are told from differing perspectives, and while you and I may agree with a particular point of view, things look very different to someone who does not.

      Indeed, people are free to choose to believe what they may and to remember things as they so choose and to interpret things for their own means, hence freewill. And for that, I give you a thumbs up.
      Going deeper however, intellectual consistency is important, ie, being that humans are indeed one creation (otherwise, none of these mythologies, stories, nor histories would ever matter - which is itself a validating point for the former, that being; intellectual consistency) there comes a point when one realizes there must be an original, origin story from which all other interpretations derive.
      While all these variant stories are interesting and captivating (which is at least one reason we're all here for 🧐, that and geeking out 🤓), key elements from these accounts all harken back toward one overall consistency: the Biblical account...with the only major differences being in memory recall and their application to each group's needs, other than that, they agree on the facts.
      Hence, taking that into account, and us all being a creation, which itself then requires a creator (it's a requirement); there must then be a metric, a ruler, a historically consistent source from which we can measure the veracity of accounts. Again, to me, the only source providing such overarching consistency, is the Biblical account. It's the metric I use due to its consistency.
      Again, I want to make it clear (just in case), I'm not hating on anyone nor would I per the subject matter. People are free to choose (as per freewill) and to converse about things (hopefully and preferably) in a civilized manner.
      Best to you and yours.
      Enjoy the weekend and enjoy all the soccer games this summer - they've been so good!!!
      Byes!

    I am having a REALLY SHITTY day. Everything is going wrong. Nothing has been interesting for several days. I'm having a HARDCORE agoraphobia PTSD meltdown.
    Then...... I'm scrolling mindlessly through UA-cam..... Not even reading video descriptions. See the thumbnail for this one and immediately know I haven't seen this picture on here before.
    Click... Play.... And hear the deliciously sweet, melodic, he-siren voice...... And realize I'm only half hearing the content, cause I already know the whole story. And just typing this while I'm falling through layer after layer of pillowy soft, hypnotic vocalization......
