In a way, it feels like all of us are Atlas, each having to carry the burden of our entire lives until the end, holding it firm to make sure we don't decide to let it all come crashing down, while the strain of it only bears down. Gravity doesn't stop and neither does life. Keep holding it as high as we can until we no longer can.

Stories tell that years/centuries later all of the Titans were released from Tartarus. Kronos was made king of Elysium. Zeus freed Prometheus but demanded he wear a ring with a chunk of the mountain he was incarcerated on.
Atlas was said to be released from his sentence, other claims say he was turned into a solid mountain by Medusa’s head.
But again, these were written into the mythos centuries later. So the legitimacy of it is questionable, but i always liked the idea of Prometheus and Atlas meeting so long after the Titanomachy and both asking each other who Zeus fucked over more lolXD

To step out of the typical 3D interpretations of Atlas' punishment, and recognize the extant higher (and lower and lateral) dimensions, it sounds like Atlas was sent into the Void. The punishment is symbolic of "carrying the weight of the cosmos" (Zeus' responsibility), and the true punishment is standing in the Void, a very real realm outside of realities, removed from his trouble causing. And word has it, Atlas WAS eventually allowed back. Just some potentially triggering considerations for humans.

Did Cronos really eat his children or is that just a metaphor for an empire conquering and re-assimilating break-away and younger civilizations that spawned from its Empire.

Learned more about Atlas than him being "the titan burdened with holding up the heavens".
Your mention of "inheriting" Kronos' selfishness, makes me wonder if the gods/titans have traits of each other, or their "parents".
For example, a more benevolent/malevolent nature.

Yeah in truth the gods are also Titans. The gods like Zeus and the others who was around his time their our know to be the second generation of Titans. However like you said the Titans are more into the elements in all Nature. The so called Titans is more as spirits/ entity being's ,and their bright the gods who the gods are more connected towards the Cosmos. In a matter of speaking the gods seem so what equal to their parents or a little bit more powerful!? Its both been stated or just a Theory???

I guess if you conflated the two separate accounts Perseus went West before deciding to go East and establish the Persian kingdom.

I can explain this one for u, well see when gaea created Ouranos, the father of the titans , Ouranos was the sky and didn’t need to be held up by a titan at the time. But see Gaea became angry with Ouranos because he cast away Gaea’s other children, the cyclopes and hekitonchires (forgot how to spell it) . Ouranos viewed them as hideous and abominations, Which angered Gaea. She then fashioned a Scythe or Sickle, and had her son Kronos murder Ouranos. This is what led to the sky being needed to be held up and it had titans taking turns holding up Ouranos.

I think it was in an old film adaptation of the Percius myth. (Maybe even the original clash of the titans. I can't remember well since I last saw it over ten years ago) that Percius came upon atlas in his travels and took pity on the titan who seemed to be kind hearted. And when he came back from killing Medusa, Atlas asked him to turn him to stone so he would be at peace and no longer have to suffer. I can't remember well but I always preferred that version of Atlas. A good natured being who simply wanted to be free of his pain. Though in that same vein I like the idea of Heracles building some pillars for him so he could be free. I always imagine him going to be with what's left of his family.

Problems, problems, Hercules/ Heracles is a descendant of Perseus, a grandson or maybe a great grandson. Atlas would have meet Perseus first, and then later on Hercules/ Heracles. The way of, Hercules/ Heracles, is the way of judgment, straight and narrow like an arrow, where as, the way of, Perseus, is that of ADVENTURE, and Atlas, not a god, but a titan, can be thought of as pole holding up a tent or maybe center pole of a merry-go-round.

The Titans held supremacy over the whole Earth and all living things on it until Cronus became power-mad (insane?), devouring his children including Zeus and Hera, the future Olympian King and Queen of not only the Gods but mankind as well. Getting to Atlas, because he took part in the Titan-Olympian War, Zeus proved how cruel he was by subjecting Atlas to his eternal fate: holding up the sky (heavens) on his shoulders. I always wondered what would have happened IF Atlas dropped the sky (or Earth) from his shoulders! Can you conceive such an event happening? IT WOULD BE THE END OF NOT ONLY OLYMPUS, BUT EARTH AND THE CREATURES ON IT! OLYMPIAN RAGNAROK!!!! Atlas is my favorite Titan, along with Prometheus, who also suffered at the wrath of Zeus! Atlas should have ruled Olympus!!!!😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
