*100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*
I agree with the other poster, you get right to the point. It seems like in most other videos the narrator really loves to hear themselves talk. Excellent video.
Wish I saw this one before I spent 3 hours on mine. I did essentially the same except clean the emulsion tube. I added a fuel filter as well. Nice job on the video!
Thank you. I'm not a mechanical guy and my EX1000 started sputtering and would die and your video was perfect. Thank you for stating the wrench sizes as well. I am up and running and it didn't take me 7 hours and at least two trips to a store to buy something I didn't need..
Thanks for this guide on cleaning carburetor. My EX1000 would not stay running because it wasn't getting gas, so I followed this video to disassemble and clean the carb. I put it back together and now it works great! The only part you hide with your hand is how to re-attach the tiny spring and rod that moves the throttle. That was a pain to get back on. Finally I pulled the carb away from bolts, then attached spring and rod before putting carb back on. That worked.
Thank YOU!!! Your video saved me a visit to the Honda repair shop. If your ever in Los Angeles yet me know.Drinks on me.Thanks again. Running as good as new.
I took apart the carb and did everything in the video and it starts and runs and then dies because gas is pouring out of the overflow tube. Is the float needle/valve bad? It looked like it was working fine but I put it back together and as soon as I put to on position open the lines it starts pouring out of the overflow tube again.
Thanks for this video, question, I have this same generator, when I start it fuel runs out of the overflow hose, is that the fault of the rubber stopper on the float?
probably a bit late but i just had the same problem with mine and pulled it apart. There was a small bit of gunk *rubber sitting under the needle keeping it open. So as soon as I turned it on even before cranking it, the fuel would just flood out. It literally dumped half a tank in a matter of minutes. Pull the float bowl off and check the needle and where it sits are clear of debrit. A five minute job and she's running like a champ again. If anyone has advice on how to adjust the voltage at the dc outputs I would be appreciative. I've adjust the idle/run speed to output the 240v for av but that ramps the dc output up to around 28v. cheers Brett
I would first use a long small tip flat screwdriver and turn the “fuel drain” screw a couple turns on the carburetor bowl. Make sure On/Off switch is off (unless you wish to empty entire tank!). Have a container - bottle to catch fuel that will come out of lower hose. This will empty the hose. May be a bit still in bowl. There a hole in side cover to empty hose/bowl without removing anything. Unless someone positioned incorrectly when reassembled. Then proceeded to remove hose, carb and bottom bowl. If you have apart, you can now see what you are doing for future use. At end of season it may be good to empty...Make sure to set bowl screw before using again... Don’t forget to clean tiny hole in that set screw inside carb. First time I did this I thought lower part was only a retainer. A few strains of tiny braided wire seemed to work. Braided red fuel line in normal...
I have one of these bad boys. Mine generator runs a little unstable. I think I'm going to clean the carburetor like you were cleaning yours in this video.
If the carburetor is stuck, get a large flat screwdriver and a hammer. place the screwdriver on the upper right side of the carburetor where it meets with the main motor housing. There is a rubber gasket between the two. You want the screwdriver to be on the carburetor side of the gasket, but close to the motor housing. Hit the top of the screwdriver with a strong tap using the hammer. you are trying to break the connection between the carb and the motor. If this isn't enough, move the driver to the left hand side of the carb. Strong tap the screwdriver again. It should disconnect. When replacing the carburetor, make sure the gasket edges are not in the way of the connection surface. I suggest spraying gasket with carb cleaner and wiping the surface of the gasket before reseating the carb. This worked for me. Generator works well (no clogs), but trim adjustment on gas will be required. jte
The venturi of a carburetor is not its air inlet. A venturi is a restriction that by necessity must within the carburetor body. Where you're pointing as you say venturi (over and over) is *on the wrong side of the choke to even possibly* be relatively near the venturi.
The carburetor doesn't simply pull off the two studs ! At least not in my case, I've been pulling at it for over N hour and I've given up before I break damage the thing.
great video. I'm having a problem. with my honda ex1000. I'm hoping you or someone can help. recently I used old gas in mine, and it caused it to refuse to start. after cleaning out the carb, it started running, but not at full power. it won't power on my tv or DVD player. the only way I can get any power output is by revving it manually. thus causes it to leak fuel from the carburetor though. any ideas or solutions?
go to honda.com and put in your zip, Call the closest authorized dealer and they can probably order it for you. I had to order an air filter as the one in it came apart in my hands.

Had a non-running Honda EX1000, followed your video tutorial, now I have a running Honda EX1000! Thanks.

Excellent. What type of cleaner do you use in your Ultrasonic?

Nice video. I have the same generator and the last time I used it, it dumped all of the gas out. Maybe I'll check it out now that I'm done with lawns.
