    I have done a lot of the ex1000 Hondas and am very fond of them. They aren't designed to return to idle and run full 3600rpm without and with a load. Set it to 60hz by the front meter built into the control panel or 3600rpm with a tach at around 500watts of load. At 60hz it should be putting out around 120-125 volts.

      Thanks. The frequency usually only matters when running an ac clock. But yes I should have cranked it up a bit more. But it is old

    Great job as usual Bruce. My EU10i Honda does have the drop back to idle, but you have to control it via an ' economy ' switch. Off and it will run at full revs regardless of the load, and On, it will drop back in the manner you say, ie; senses the load and compensates to suit. Cant help but think the EX1000 will still be running when the EU10i is long dead. Simple and built to last. Cheers.
    Mike.

      Got it running; No problem.
      But, I didn't have the "emulsion" part, but just a jet which was clogged.
      Other than that, $2.25 for a can of carb. cleaner did the trick!
      Thanks again for your great video.

    Good day Bruce, I always enjoy your videos but I have one comment for you. Your grinder is rated for 6 amps at full load. Free spinning is likely closer to 1 or 2 amps. For a true measurement you may want to invest in a Kill A Watt or similar meter. You could also use the frequency function of your Fluke to set the governor. That is more accurate than loaded voltage. Please keep your episodes coming.

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop  6 років тому

      I get it. I don't have frequency or capacitance on my fluke. Thanks for the comment you are right about the load being unknown.

I have had a couple of carbs on hondas that didn't want to come off like that one i got one lose by just lightly tapping on the bowl one I couldn't get off without messing up the gasket I have started just keeping a couple of the carb gaskets instock. I bought my EX1000 on 15 Apr 95, so I assume they were made before and after that date. Yes, the generator will drop back to idle after you take a load off of it. I used a Soil saw for load tests on my generators. A light bulbs is not enough load to tell you much. Put at least a 50% load on it - a out 6 to 7A load. The EX1000 is about a 1500W generator.

    I have an EU 2000 Honda Generator, it sat for two years went to start it and it will only run on choke. i watched a bunch of videos and read bogs. It was obvious the old gas plugged the carburetor. I am told $20 for a new carb. Bur I was in need of the generator immediately! I ran two cans of Sea Foam through it. It helped immensely. But still had to have the choke on some. I ran it through my camping trip with NON ethanol gas after two 4hr uses it now runs without the choke on. Obviously a $20 fix is a better fix. but I was able to use it right away for $12 of Sea Foam

    Another good video showing a cleaning of the carburetor. Tell me, what do you do with the gas you remove from machines like these? How do you dispose of it? Or do you keep it and use it as a solvent to clean things? Either way, you will eventually have to get rid of it.
    If it were new but dirty gas, do you try to make it usable by maybe running it through a double paper coffee filter? That would clean out the dirt that would clog things.
    But still, you have to get rid of at least the old unusable stuff some how. Maybe you could set up a little venturi with a spark plug, like in a torpedo heater. A backyard flame thrower. ;-) Light up the night sky and make the neighbors curious. :-D
    Maybe you could set up a "play list" of short carburetor cleaning videos, one for each type. Also, I noticed that if I go to your channel home page I can do a "search" of just your videos looking for keywords. I quickly found your video on mixing 2-cycle engine fuel in that manor.
    I have never set up a UA-cam channel so I am just throwing ideas at you, I have know idea as to if they are practical or helpful.
    Keep up the good work.

    I’m experiencing the same issue. My inverter generator is a MI T M 2000.. I already followed the procedure in the video, but I’m still experiencing the same issue. Any ideas as to what it could be? Not sure if it’s the carb or the fact that I’m attempting it without the air intake assembly (no filter or cap). Would running it without the air filter and air filter cap cause this issue?

    Sorry I'm new to this and quit ignorant, I have a EU2000i I started it with the choke closed. It Runs perfectly both regular and ECO mode. But as soon as I try to open the choke it dies. Will it hurt to just keep running it closed? Also, this is after cleaning the carb and changing out the gas. before that it would sputter and cut off. Now it runs perfect and only dies if I turn the choke.

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop  6 років тому +1

      You still have some sort of blockage in the carb. It is running lean and not good for it. There is still a blockage in the carb somewhere. Did you check the idle circuit which is under the plastic screw for the idle. It has a passage to 2 or 3 tiny holes right by the throttle butterfly. They are tiny. Use a small piece of wire to clean those.

      You can try a few things but most likely you will need a carb clean. If there is 2 bolts on the carb bowl. Drain it with the one that is on an angle. Make sure all the fuel is new in the tank and flush some of that new fuel through the drain hole you just opened. If that doesn't work I would clean the carb. Lots of videos on that.

    You should call the size of the bolt correctly. If you were unscrewing an 8 mm bolt you would have been probably using a 15 mm socket. If you use an 8 mm socket call it an 8 mm socket because the screw is probably more of a 3 or 4 mm screw. People need to know the correct nomenclature of parts.
