He’s a middle-class white man that’s lived in Texas his whole life and East Austin, which was predominantly black, was another world to him. Most Baby Boomers and older in Texas that are lifelong residents do have some prejudices.
Why would he be excited to meet the governor? Rick is clearly blown away meeting him. These Texas boys but Overton done letting him know. Just nice to see Richard being himself.
