I saw this show with Yolanda in NYC, I think in 2000 ... and I also saw Maria few years later. Many people say that Maria is the best but honestly, I'm not a specialist but Yolanda moves with an incomparable grace ! Each time I saw her, I have no doubt!
Too many people are comparing Yolanda's Sobrado's flamenco to Maria Pages' flamenco. You can't compare the two. Why? Because they're both different interpretations of the Firedance piece. Granted, Maria Pages' is more well known but that doesn't always equate to being better, or vice versa. If you look at Yolanda's interpretation of Firedance, it is more traditional flamenco where as Maria's is centered towards a sensual rendition. Both interpretations are worthy of praise. I do think like Yolanda's Riverdance-in-Beijing interpretation of Firedance, where as I also love Maria's interpretation of Firedance in the original Riverdance shows.
yeah Maria is good. I have never seen her live. But I like this version better cause of the male Irish dancers coming in. With Maria there are 2 versions of her dance one with Michael Flatley and one by herself. I get rather bored with the one by herself. I have seen Riverdance 4 times live and so far my favorite one has been Marta Ortiz. Her version she smiles more and is rather sassy.

I love this. It must be hard for the fire dancer to always be compared to Maria Pages. For my part (and I speak from an ordinary viewer's POV, not a dance expert or student) I think they're equally good.
I know people hate change but Tbh I don't compare because they have their own way of performing. It will be a different choreography (cos I know Maria did her own) and she'll bring her own style.
Yeah, me as well- this looks amazing, but clearly as a choreography, Maria Pages dance is far more natural and comes straight from heart, is mesmerising ^_^
Great dancing, beautiful music. I just wish she had danced alone without the irish dancers. I feel as if they sort overwhelmed the dance a bit and it lost some of its passion.
she's good but NO ONE can beat Maria Pages! She is pure fire! I didn't like how they added ice men to the part. Should have left the fire to burn like when Maria was in it
I had studied flamenco for several years, and I am sorry. Not better than Maria. Maria is so fluid and passionate. With Maria you feel her emotions. I feel nothing here.

The movement of her dress though. It's so fluid :) What I would give to make a dress that flows that beautifully.!
I watched her for the Bejing show. I think she is one of the most graceful and passionate Flamenco dancers I've watched.
