I remember seeing this on Lion King video too, for some reason this was somehow creepy but still awesome advert if you ask me. I´m used to listen this in Finnish, my own language and the speaker was more creepier.
Absolute same ! I didn’t know if it was only a cool thing on the Germany VHS but obviously not. Imagine they would have put it on the blu ray for the 2019 lion king... even though space mountain doesn’t exist anymore it would have been the greatest marketing move in history 😂
this is creepy, yet brilliant and clever, I renumber as a kid I never really understood what this commercial was really about, than I went to Disneyland it it made a bit more sense.
I remember watching this as a kid all the time on VHS. It’s weird remembering it because I remember listening to every word he said but not understanding any of it.
@MrDanielNewton Haha, my thoughts exactly. I got the Lion King on video for a birthday when I was about five (1994) and I remember being more interested in this ad. It really is an awesome ride too. Went to Disneyland on a school trip in 2004 and spent about 90% of the day on it. XD
I also found it on the European French VHS releases of 101 Dalmatians, The Fox and The Hound and The Lion King but not Pocahontas unlike the english version! It was also on the Italian and German VHS releases of The Lion King!

I remember seeing this ad on a re-release of The Lion King VHS when that came out. At the time i was 5, now i'm 19. And to this day, i still remember the ad clear as day. I think it's the audio that does it.
@Lexxxicide Well that`s great, I went to Disneyland twice, first in 2005 on a school trip, then in 2006 with my family. We went on a number of rides and since Space Mountain was the best ride we decided to save it until last.
I never went to Disneyland untill last weekend. I always saw this commercial on my Sleeping Beauty VHS. So when I was there last weekend, i was totally pumped to go into the Space Mountain Attraction! It was amazing.
When I was a kid, I was so scared of this advertisement! I remember this being on the beginning of my The Lion King VHS and I always had to run into another room when this started rolling. However, the man's voice in Finland version of this ad was far more creepy! This man sounds way more pleasant. :D
Ocfan207 I was just a kid, and only knew how to fast backwards... seriously. I even thought that the "rec" button is the video machine's self-destruction button, which would make the whole thing to explode! Maybe it was because my parents always said to never touch that button... so that's what my clever mind made me think the button does. XD
I remember watching this advert on the Lion king vhs. They always had these sort of adverts about either disney land or a disney movie. And i clearly rember how this scared the shit out of me and also fascinated me at the same time. I think I was like 5 or 6 at the time watching it. :-)
i nearly died on space mountain this summer!! lol my bar thing that strapped me in wasnt very tight. i was shitting it for the whole ride. but im still alive haha!! rock n rollercoaster was 100 times better though
omg. i remember this before the fox and the hound movie. i watched it sooo many times. i was 3, ok? and looking at the title just then, i thought it looked AWFUL! so yeah, no-one needed to know that. :3
I was afraid of this advert when I was 3 years old. It didn't really help that I didn't understand English and the narrator sounds kind of threatening.
I Certainly remember this from my VHS copy of The Lion King. I Had always wanted to visit Disneyland Paris when I was younger but never got the chance, unlikely I will until the day I have my own kids now which wont be for a good long time or infact if it will ever happen.
I don't like rollercoaster, but this ad alone makes me feel PUMPED. 8D As a child, it freaked me out just like it did Maquenda too but...nowadays, in a more nostalgic viewpoint, I look at this and go "OH HELL YEAH".
Funny how I as a kid was blown away by the visuals in this ad on my Lion King vhs, but never really understood one thing what it was about......
You were the same as i was, this was on the finnish re-release of Pinocchio VHS in 1995 and my mind blew up when i saw this.
I know exactly what you mean! Haha
I never understood it either!
Me too! Used to scare me!
exactly the same!! I miss those times..
I remember seeing this advert on the Lion King video
I remember seeing this on Lion King video too, for some reason this was somehow creepy but still awesome advert if you ask me. I´m used to listen this in Finnish, my own language and the speaker was more creepier.
Yep, me too.
Same here!
+Alexander Jarrett Same here, buddy.
Alexander Jarrett damn m2 😂👍🏼
As a kid I loved seeing this on my videos. I actually thought it was the greatest ride in the universe, like it had been proven
Scary ad to be found in a children’s video lol.
Absolute same ! I didn’t know if it was only a cool thing on the Germany VHS but obviously not. Imagine they would have put it on the blu ray for the 2019 lion king... even though space mountain doesn’t exist anymore it would have been the greatest marketing move in history 😂
Jesus this advert literally scared the life out of me!
Was I the only one who got scared from this commercial?
Jennifer Petri no me too, I ran behind the couch every time :')
you're not alone!
I never got scared of it I thought it was sort of cool.
I did too haha
I was both scared & interrested
this is creepy, yet brilliant and clever, I renumber as a kid I never really understood what this commercial was really about, than I went to Disneyland it it made a bit more sense.
+Ocfan207 Indeed, my favourite Disney ad by far. (For a theme park anyway.)
I remember I saw this as a kid and believed Disney Land was on the moon
+Marton It's okay, Marton. We've all been there.
And when visiting Disneyland Paris at age 7 I thought the Channel Tunnel lead to a Disney Villain's lair
😁 yeah it kinda looks so!
This is one of the pre/post movie adverts that truly stick out for me I always remember it
i loved seeing this commercial right before my cartoons it looked so futureistic and cool at the time
I don't know what I was looking at, at the time, but fuck did it change my perspective on what atmosphere was.
i remember this ad when i was a child.
i always got goosebumbs from it xo
I use to hate this advert as a kid. It felt like it went on for such a long time, made no sense to me and I just wanted The Lion King to begin 😂
Same! Used to scare the hell out of me too
I remember watching this as a kid all the time on VHS. It’s weird remembering it because I remember listening to every word he said but not understanding any of it.
I have no idea why but as a kid the sound of the telescope slotting into place kinda freaked me out. It's weird I know
You're not the only one. This ad terrified me as a kid. 😂
This was on the Pocahontas video too and it kinda scared me.
I remember this. Watched it so many times on various old Disney videos. Never really understood it
I remember that on the old disney videos, my cousin used to be terified of it lol ( well ok i can understand why )
That used to scare me senseless when I was a kid on all the old videos!
When I was a kid and saw this on my Toy Story VHS I’d have to fast forward as it creeped me out! Now I’m older the music is like an eargasm haha
lol when I saw this years ago, I thought it wasnt a rollor coaster, i thought you actually went up into space!
I remember this advert before the Fox and the hound
I used to go under my mum's couch cushions when this came on 😂 too scary for little me
@MrDanielNewton Haha, my thoughts exactly. I got the Lion King on video for a birthday when I was about five (1994) and I remember being more interested in this ad. It really is an awesome ride too. Went to Disneyland on a school trip in 2004 and spent about 90% of the day on it.
XD
This is from the Swedish VHS releases of The Lion King, Pinocchio, The Fox and The Hound, 101 Dalmatians and Pocahontas
It wasn't just on the Swedish release.
I also found it on the European French VHS releases of 101 Dalmatians, The Fox and The Hound and The Lion King but not Pocahontas unlike the english version! It was also on the Italian and German VHS releases of The Lion King!
Scariest part of the video xD
Why did Disney take an amazing theme like Jules Verne and turn it into a generic star wars ride
Thanks to everyone for their comments on the music; 'Encounter' composed by Andy Quin. Please visit my SoundCloud page for this and many more tracks such as 'Awakening' from the latest Nike Ad; Tomorrow Starts Now.
+A Quin Thanks, Andy!
excuse me what this the name of music of the tralier of space mountain vhs please
Yes, Encounter by Andy Quin
The Music is from the Past Alton Towers Coaster Black Hole xD
This advert scared me as a child. Thought it wouldn't now as I'm older. I'm wrong.
Very epic advert but yeah still scares me too!
Naaaaaants! Ingonyamaaaaaaa!
Bagithi baba...
I can still remember the Finnish dub word to word and the last time I saw it was at least 15 years ago.
Same. Any dub is really good but finnish one is the best
this music is the same as the black hole music from Alton towers but the space mountain them music is completely different.
Theteenagemoron Yep. The Lift Hill Soundtrack :)
I remember seeing this ad on a re-release of The Lion King VHS when that came out. At the time i was 5, now i'm 19. And to this day, i still remember the ad clear as day. I think it's the audio that does it.
This used to be at the beginning of nearly every one of my Disney videos when I was little haha!
@Lexxxicide Well that`s great, I went to Disneyland twice, first in 2005 on a school trip, then in 2006 with my family. We went on a number of rides and since Space Mountain was the best ride we decided to save it until last.
Remember this from adverts on VHS. It was slightly intimidating but I remember every word and noise. Loved it.
This Space Mountain is just awesome with the whole Jules Verne theme, too bad Mission 2 kinda drifted away from that
does anyone still find this scary to this day...i know i still do. gave me nightmares as well (falling through space as if i was in this advert)
Eat you heart out, Jules Verne. XD
iRinnda Couldn't you have just fast forwarded it?
Ocfan207 I was just a kid, and only knew how to fast backwards... seriously. I even thought that the "rec" button is the video machine's self-destruction button, which would make the whole thing to explode! Maybe it was because my parents always said to never touch that button... so that's what my clever mind made me think the button does. XD
iRinnda don't know why our parents never taught us to fast forward till we were older.
cuz we would play with it and then the VHS would get destroyed
Would have been the best marketing move in history if Disney put this on the 2019 lion king blu ray
Life was better with VHS.
I remember watching this advert on the Lion king vhs. They always had these sort of adverts about either disney land or a disney movie. And i clearly rember how this scared the shit out of me and also fascinated me at the same time.
I think I was like 5 or 6 at the time watching it. :-)
Destination? Space
Speed? Astronomical
Your closest encounter? Asteroid
Hotel? Trivago
Why is the background music Alton Towers black Hole lift hill music
omg this brings back memories!
Anyone else been ill during this advert when they were younger?
The most epic advertising never made for a theme park.
Launch is the new chain lift.
Chain lifts are slow and unreliable whereas launches are faster and more thrilling.
It's pretty true to be honest, I've just got back from Disney, and trust me you don't forget it, fantastic ride!
This comerrcial on vhs used to scare me as a kid idk why lmao
I have seen the commercial in some old movies on VHS's from disney.. But i haven't seen them on TV..
1 person called the number at the end and got scared because they couldn't speak French
Or Alton Towers don't own the track themselves and its royalty free?
I remember this on the lion king video
Disney may have gotten permission from Alton Towers to use the music from the Black Hole ride.
i nearly died on space mountain this summer!! lol my bar thing that strapped me in wasnt very tight. i was shitting it for the whole ride. but im still alive haha!!
rock n rollercoaster was 100 times better though
Disneyland Paris Adverts were always on the Disney Classic VHSs except The Return of Jafar and The Sword in the Stone.
I thought at first it was a movie and not a Disney attraction.
omg this brings back memories!
omg. i remember this before the fox and the hound movie. i watched it sooo many times. i was 3, ok? and looking at the title just then, i thought it looked AWFUL! so yeah, no-one needed to know that. :3
before lion king vhs xD
I had this advert on my Mary Poppins VHS.
ive bEEN THERE ITS OVER GREAT. YOU SREAM LIKE HELL
If anyone else wants a better copy, just let me know!
Where was this commercial aired? Wouldn't you think it would be in French?
The french dub for Space Mountain was on 101 Dalmatians, The Fox and The Hound and The Lion King
I don't like rollercoaster, but this ad alone makes me feel PUMPED. 8D
As a child, it freaked me out just like it did Maquenda too but...nowadays, in a more nostalgic viewpoint, I look at this and go "OH HELL YEAH".
Maybe because of the music..
wow, what a cheap advert
Watched this on a Pocahontas VHS here in Kenya back in 2004. Since I loved astronomy documentaries, I found this ad thrilling.
I was so scared of this advert when I was a kid I had to run and hide from it 😅
Ngl kid me legit thought this was a trailer for a movie
Please come and have a listen to this track in full and many others at Andy Quin's Soundcloud page
SPAAAAACCCCEEEEEEE !!!!!
I remember this ad was on my vhs for the fox and the Hound.
And every time i went to watch it as a kid, i was understandably unnerved by the advert-
Idk why but this terrified me as a kid
Opening to Around the World with Timon and Pumba 1996 VHS [ Arabic ] مقدمة شريط فيديو حول العالم مع تيمون وبومبا
This used to scare the shit outta me as a kid
I'd say this advert was scarier than the actual ride.
Please, where do you from this vidéo? Can I find it in a DVD ?
@cjthomas89 WTF i didnt say anything like that
i remember this ad it think it was on the tarzan video or monster inc
This advert scares me.
omg :'D i remember this from my toy story video that i used to watch all the time when i was younger :)
Don't forget it the next time you go to Paris ;-)
does destination stem from the word, destiny
i remembered when i was young i was visually stunned because i didn't knew where the train went after the launch
as a kid some Disney VHS tapes i owned had this advert.
Does anyone know the name of the song used on this advert? I've been trying to find it for ages!
Encounter by Andy Quinn.
i remember this on all my disney videos, but for some reason it always creeped me out, and it still does!
The music was also played on Alton Towers's late Black Hole attraction, by the way. :)
AdrenalineAddict610 Yep. On The Lift Hill :)
I saw this advert on Lion King VHS when i was a kid!
I remember this advertisment from my
