I can do any asset allocation you want. But since no one knows the future, any change in the asset allocation would come after the fact, in other words after the down year. If you were at 8020 in the year 2000, then in 2001 you can go to 6040 which might help if you had consecutive down years but not if you just had one. I hope this makes sense.

Love your show. Do you take (or can you) rebalancing in the down years. i.e-60/40 in year 2000 or 1929 then rebalance to 60/40 year of down market?
