I can get this for free all the time from my pastor. Honestly, this video is a combination of Sunday school lessons and what my parents lectured to me.
That bit about caring for your parents at the end of their life hit me so hard , Im grateful I could care for my mother and see her off in peace, its something ill always remember and cherish
Wow, I agree with almost everything here, except that “this is IT. 9:44.” This life is too simple to end this way. I know HELL exists, because he got me out of it twice, but God wants us to choose to be with him or not. Most of the world knows of Jesus Christ now, so he’s coming back soon. But will never force you into the relationship. Scott, if you choose to believe, you will see your kids again. And possibly even watch over your grandchildren.
Christopher Freeze You beat me to it...except for the Africa thing (I know it’s a metaphor), there’s a lifetime of “experiences” you can have in “the best zip code in the world” and still keep your Family safe. If it’s just you, knock yourself out on the amount of “danger” (real/perceived) to expose yourself too.
Jordan Petersen, Tim Ferris & Steve Jobs walk into a room. Only one man comes out... Scott Galloway. Thank you Sir for your contribution, we are in your debt.
Great observations and advice. However, IMO Professor Galloway misses one huge source of happiness, helping others. When I wonder why am I here and does anything matter I remind myself of the people I have helped and am helping. This brings me joy. Helping others may bring you joy as well.
I'm so glad you did a video of this newsletter... I just turned 36, became a dad, am losing parents to alcoholism, had financial success early on but now am feeling lost hopping from one failed startup to another while getting no interest from my resumes because I can't dictate exactly what I want to do... this was such an inspiration. Thank you
Hope the last five years since this comment have been positive for you. If you ever care to share an update here, I’d very much be happy to get that UA-cam alert.
Damn, Scott! As a long time watcher of your vids, my expectations of your content are high, but this video broke new ground and reached a depth I was not expecting! Thank you for making this and sharing so honestly. As a 32-year-old "struggling" entrepreneur this is a much-needed reality check.
Good information to share. I believe in God without the religiion mumbo jumbo. That gives me a lot of inner peace, love and happiness and also attracts money to me.
1. Sweating/exercise 2. The myth of balance, only comes after hard work 3. Find a real partner, alignment. 4. Live in the right zip code. 5. The limited Correlation between money and happiness 6. This guy has nailed it. Great advise. I wish someone had told me this stuff 40 years ago, but I probably wouldn’t have listened anyway. I’m lucky enough to have discovered these truths in my life’s journey but a head start would have helped

You were one of the biggest reason I got back to school. Even though I'm only 23, you're an absolute inspiration. These videos really make a difference. I've learned more through you over the last 2+ years than I have in the econ classes I've enrolled in. Thank you Scott
I am not the target audience for this channel, but that message of seniors on their younger selves was really warm Scott. I think I needed to hear that, thank you.
This was pure gold! Every 18 year old, who is entering into adulthood, should watch it as there are some valuable lessons in this video. I am myself 18 and found the video very helpful. It’s not something that is taught at school
I really have no idea why I just subscribed but every time I see one of these advertisements I always think, “ this guy has my respect” or “ I don’t know what he’s talking about but I want to hear more.” So after like 6 months of seeing ads for this channel I finally subbed. I love to hear this guys voice and care little tone and above all his incredible intellect on every subject discussed. Dammit advertising you win
Great video. Best playbook for life I've seen to date with the exception of Scott's comments about "Partnering." Partnering (or, marriage) is short lived and a total fallacy. All the preparation and thought that goes into careful partner selection works for about 6 months to 1 year. After that, shit gets very, very real (reference Scott's Happiness curve). It's during the low point of the curve when things take a turn for the worse. Stress, work, politics, economic hardship, deteriorating health, kids, in-laws all add tremendous stress to the partnership and will cause it to break. I guarantee that at one time or another, one (or both) partner(s) will want out. Remember, as with all 2-party partnerships, it takes two in order to create it. However, it only takes one to dissolve it. Divorce will seek to undo everything (and, I do mean everything) the partnership worked so hard to create. The end results include (but are in no way limited to): financial ruin, emotional/physical/mental health issues, drug and alcohol addiction, and (in more than one case) death (by suicide -- or worse). For those of you who are contemplating marriage, DON'T!!! The odds against you are staggering. The national divorce rate is 50% (and rising extremely fast). The divorce rate in CA is 100% (counting second or even third marriages). If you are dead-set on marrying, meet with a reputable family lawyer BEFORE saying your I-do's and learn about what you are about to get yourself into. Talk to as many married and formerly married people as possible about their experiences (particularly, lessons-learned) and LISTEN really, really carefully. I realize my words will cause you to think of (and/or respond to) me critically. And, that's OK. But, if you don't think this can happen to you...well, you'll see. As for myself, I was naïve, and I did not receive advice like this when I needed it the most. I wish that I had. So, this of this is one of those "pay it forward" moments. As Scott so eloquently states, "Life is SO rich!" My contribution: "So, don't F@#$ it up!" :)
Well...I guess that depends on one's death, doesn't it? If the ideal is to painlessly pass at age 100 in a warm bed surrounded by loved ones, then this is something I wish for everyone (myself included). Since one of life's biggest mysteries is that we don't know when or where it's going to end, we must accept this as something beyond our control. However, we can control what we do in life. My original statement merely cautions about the realities of marriage (and the devastating consequences of divorce) AS WELL AS provides advice to those who choose to marry -- something to which Scott alluded but did not fully address. I pray the people who read my words take them in the spirit in which they were written and proceed with caution.
I don't ever expect to find someone I'm mutually attracted to (physically), align with my values, AND aligns with my financial philosophies. That's a unicorn.
That was good. It hit home-I to took care of my dying mother for 2yrs. I watched jeopardy n wheel of fortune every night. with her n spent all day caring for her-it was my privilege.
Never seen/heard so many life lessons in such a short duration of time! They're told in such a concise manner. I bet I'll watch it many many times in future and I'll try recommend it to as many people as I can.
Can’t tell you how many entrepreneurs, CEO’s, company presidents, leaders, etc...became successful in their field first, then went back to school to obtain their MBA (or finish obtaining it). I’m heading towards being a self-employed entrepreneur, but meanwhile I’ve been fired twice at the law firm I am still currently working at, but have received two salary raises there as well! This was one of your best videos. Thank you. 😎

And life coach, and nutritionist, and pastor, ...

Ironically enough, I’ve learned the bulk of these lessons over many past Sundays, albeit Sunday mornings, not Sunday evenings
If I could recommend only 10 minutes of life advice to anyone, it is these 10 minutes. Thanks Scott!
