  • This weeks foundations video focuses on elevating your toy play into flat work!
The same can be done to a MM or food in a bowl for dogs who aren’t toy orientated. Have a play with it and see how you get on 🐾

My dog doesn't have toy drive, so I swapped the dead toy for our Treat and train and this worked brilliantly! thank you 🙏

What do you recommend for a dog that isn't interested in toys?

I would swap it for a treat dispensing machine like the treat and trains or a bowl with food 🥰

Hi! Thankyou for sharing 'flatwork'. To ask the obvious question: Is flatwork training introduced in that period when bones are too soft for pups to jump? In other words a way of getting them used to 'odd' manouevres before introducing them to jumps? I use the word 'odd' cos the obvious route (for the dog) is to go straight for the toy.

Hi Ray, yes it can be done, it’s great preparation for when you begin training with equipment as it can very easily be transferred and built in around agility equipment once ready. What you could do to prevent any injuries on puppies delicate joints is have another person holding the toy in the positions rather then running to it and coming to a big halt suddenly. If you do go to a dead toy I’d advise using something like a holee roller or a large toy that elevates off the ground so easier to pick up when running towards it and just limiting number of reps so it’s not too much strain on them 😊
