CRC throttle body cleaner. Unbolt your throttle body from the intake (4 bolts and one vacuum hose with a clip, plus the electrical connector) and clean the front AND backside of the blade with the spray and a rag. While doing this, have fuse 10 and fuse 28 in the underhood fuse box pulled, these are for the PCM. Once you've got the carbon off the TB put it back on and pop the fuses back in, and fire it up. PCM will now relearn the clean TB idle position and your idle will be smooth. This is the correct procedure for this service, I owned quite a few envoys and trailblazers with the 4.2, they're great engines

Nothing compares to the deep creep I’ve been working on a 67 chevy c10 that was sitting for about 30 year in a redwood forest tried everything out there and deep creep is the only one that worked and pretty fast
We have a 07 we bought new, it has 208,000 miles on it, Ben all over USA and canada, brakes, tires, amsoil oil changes , and all other oils are amsoil as well , a few from wheel bearings also.
Yes! I love the stuff. It really works wonders on clogged intakes and associated parts. Just have to find where to get it in the right place for it to be effective.
That stuff Does work. I had a Honda cx500 that had been sitting for many years. I didn't drain the old gas added a full can of Seafoam to the old gas. Started the bike with a jump got it running smoked a lot ran the tank empty refilled with fresh gas and it ran perfect.....
I thought Sea Foam was going to be snake oil when I tried it on the 1992 Acura Integra I had. Well, it took the 196,000 mile B18A1 in that car and made it go from shakey mess at idle to smooth as a 4 cylinder can be at any RPM. And the car accelerated better, it got better fuel economy, I was blown away.
I have used it a bunch over the last couple of decades since an old friend had turned me onto it one year out in the desert . He had some partially plugged up passages in his dual carb buggy and put half a can into his tank of fuel before we headed out for a run . Before he dumped it into tank his engine was barely drivable , shooting ducks & running rough as Hell, after he did treatment & about a 20-30 minute run we came back into camp & that old VW Engine was running as smooth as silk & purred like a kitten. Made me a believer on the spot . C-ya .👍
I had a catalytic converter CEL and a Fuel Pressure in Cylinder CEL, plus the car could not pass inspection. One can of Seafoam in the gas tank, one can of spray in the intake. Both CELs gone and passed inspection.
At that point it would've been worth tearing the carb down for a cleaning anyway, probably a good bit of varnish blocking some the idle jet, maybe bits of float bowl gasket too. Worst case scenario I'd consider just getting a carb rebuild kit.
Used the trans tune in my 32yrs old chevy k2500 and It was the best thing to happen to my transmission since I took on the project. Night and day difference..
Many products are like this... Seafoam is just the name brand OG. However, to save some dollars get the SuperTech version and put a can in your gas tank, a can in your crankcase, and a can in the brake booster (same as throttle body basically) and it'll clean EVERYTHING thoroughly. Same process as this. Except then change your oil in aboutr 200-300 miles. If you've got bad oil burning, try soaking the piston heads themselves with it a few times a day by opening up the spark plug wells and pouring about a half cup per cylinder once in morning, noon, and night. Then run it the next morning. It'll fix those rings!
Nice..I did this to a 2006 Wrangler that idled so bad the dashboard vibrated. The Seafoam did ok. However, I had big success with the Deep Creep from the same company. Used it the same way, I was even able to clean the idle air valve. I put the whole can in through the intake even after the engine stalled. I waited 45 minutes, and it did not want to start at first. But when it did, it was hitting on 2 cylinders at first. After it stabilized, I took it out and spanked it. Rough at first, then after 5 miles, it was blowing blue and black smoke, then all of a sudden the power was back, no smoke acceleration was like the day I first got it. Power to spare.
The GM direct injection engines have carbon buildup issues due to the EGR valve dumping oily exhaust gas back into the intake. In normal fuel injection engines the injectors spray upstream of the valves and the gasoline largely dissolves the oily residue but in the GDI engines that stuff hardens up into carbon deposits on the backs of the valves and eventually causes performance issues. There is a GM TSB about this where they will fog a Delco branded product into the intake while the engine is running to do what this clip is showing being done with the sea foam.
It's because it cleaned the throttle body. Sea foam is made for 2 cycle engines that's why you have the smoke is because the oil in it. You can use it to clean the throttle body without the engine running. As a mechanic of 27+ years I don't use it unless the engine is off. Now you have created a sticky residue that will just cause the gunk to build back up even faster. My opinion only. Do what you wanna but it will damage the catalytic converter
I drive a lot of miles, I use seafoam, I put two cans in my gas tank, twice a year , you'll NOTES from day one your car will be running smooth and the motor will be more quiet, guarantee ... Try it you have nothing to lose... This will help you with all your emissions parts... This helped keep the Pistons clean from carbon buildup.. and the fuel injectors clean... And your valves 👍
I use it to winterize my lawn equipment too. Fires right up the next season like I never stopped using it. It's a must for areas with ethanol in the gas...
Sea Foam has many uses I started using it about 15 years ago with great success I also have used Marvel mystery oil and that works very well for lifter noise and sticky Piston rings by reducing oil consumption
I used the sea foam transmission conditioner to unstick a valve in my Dodge 1500 auto transmission . I did that over 2 years ago and it hasn’t had a problem since.
Are used to have a 04 v6 Chevy trailblazer and it was one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. With that being said I had a couple issues with it of the coils burning out on it or just a non-functioning properly coil so if you have rough idle issues just go for the coils I know they’re expensive but you’re gonna need them eventually anyway believe me. The street six motor is a beast by the way and I love it
That's cool I have the same trailblazer to and it's got its fair share of rascals that go wrong at the time to time it keeps throwing a p0300 I think it's the ignition coil packs I replace the spark plugs I got tired of my catalytic converter getting plugged up so I said screw it and chopped a sucker off and also no oxygen sensors
Of course it did, I keep telling people that on these videos and they just don't seem to understand. But what would you expect when you loosen up a bunch of crud and send it through the converter? The only way I would consider using seafoam in that manner was if I unhooked my converters beforehand
Just bought a 2013 ecoboost escape. Motor was knocking horribly. Used sea foam in the gas, oil and intake no more knock, injectors are quieter, car gets better mpg and more power. Great stuff
I used to buy cars all worn out with rod knock for 2-300, a can of seafoam later, could sell the car for 8-9 thousand. Now I've moved on to wrecked Ferraris and Lambos, and bygolly, seafoam works on those too. $2,000 for the wrecked Lambo at auction+a can of seafoam, can sell for $165,000 easy.
I love it because it is a 100% petroleum based product no man-made products added It can be used in any component of an automobile. Engine transmission power steering or differential gas or diesel it doesn’t matter great product. It has been around for years. I use it to clean my guns also
Just did this on my 2013 Charger SE with 195xxx miles. Had done an engine flush about two months ago and even with that, I had HUGE PLUMES of smoke come out after the hot soak. Drove it around “spirited” and at first, it kind of bogged down and even flashed the check engine light but went away right after it blew out some nasty carbon. I live somewhat in the country so not a lot of people on this backroad which was a good thing because I smoked it out! lol literally. Throttle response is better. The get up and go off the line is much more fluid. Still a little bit of a rough idle but not a ton but for a vehicle with nearly 200k, I wouldn’t expect any less. Seafoam definitely worked!
I have been putting Sea Foam down the brake booster vacuum line for years, and it truly makes a difference in how good your vehicle runs. Not to mention it smokes a whole lot more!
Seafoam works wonders I have a chrysler 300 the motor was knocking and making all kinds of noise I put a while can in the motor oil and ran it for about a week before I changed the oil and now it runs so smooth and doesn't make any noise at all it had a lifter tick and a rod knock before I put seafoam in it
I put a can of Seafoam for high mileage vehicles in my 04 f150. It’s the can with black and gold markings. It knocked carbon off and increased my mileage by almost 70 miles. But that’s highway and keeping it between 55-60 mph.
Bought a Camaro that sat for 11 years in a barn. Idled really rough. Put 2 bottles of sea foam with a quarter tank of gas and let it idle for an hour. Runs perfectly fine now.
The throttle body of the gm 4.2 liter junks up with oil and can cause the motor to stall when turning on the ac. Where you put the sea foam straw, it cleaned the part I am talking about. Sea foam is great and will clean up the spark plugs and valves.
I have a can that I use half of it per the instruction on my truck but the straw is different than a straight straw that way you can put it into the throttle body through the ducting. It's smoothed the idle of my vehicle out too.
A guy in the auto parts store sold me a can of "New Car in a Bottle". I asked "Does this stuff really work?"😃" He said yeah, so I said "Great! I don't even have a car, and now I'll have a new one!"
It worked for me too after buying plugs purge valve pcv valve coils and changing motor mounts 3 times I have an elantra and it had a shaky idle it was driving me nuts then I tried the Lucas gdi cleaner and my car isn't gdi. Oh I also cleaned the throttle body till you could eat off it but nothing did it but seafoam. I had so much smoke the police came because they thought my car was on fire then when it stopped smoking I drove it. Then once I got in a safe place and drove a little aggressive and when I did another cloud a block long came out of my exhaust. Seafom is awesome don't care how many times scotty Kilmer says it's for outboard motors it works on car engines too I promise
Personally, I recommend pulling out and cleaning injectors. My v6 ranger used to idle super rough and started hard after long drives until I cleaned and rebuilt the fuel injectors. Now it starts and runs great all the time. I ran many cans of seafoam through that ranger and they would make a slight difference but it's just a bandaid on the bigger problem. Just my 2 cents.

I've always called SeaFoam "mechanic in a can"! Grew up with a mechanic who made me a believer long time ago!
Every think of replacing the PCV valve.
Yes! I love the stuff. It really works wonders on clogged intakes and associated parts. Just have to find where to get it in the right place for it to be effective.
Works great it cleaned everything that was holding the engine together. One rebuild later and good to go😂
That stuff Does work.
I have that 4.2 i6 engine myself and I love it. These things will run forever if taken care of.
Keep up your oil changes they're known for sludge deposits.
Synthetic oil is absolutely worth it if you actually plan in keeping the vehicle.
Ran a can of seafoam through an old ATV that had sat for over 8 years. Didn't completely fix the idle, but it did improve it massively.
I used seafoam in my ultrasonic cleaner for carburetors. It turned all the varnish to slime, cleaned it off and dissolved it into nothing.
I’ve used this a lot and it’s helped out more times than not. U can do the same thing with a high detergent ATF just gotta drizzle it in
been using seafoam for decades always worked 4 me
Many products are like this...
Sea-foam got a non runner 5.7l truck, bought for parts, from the scrap yard running and then took the place of the builds it was to be parted out for.
I use Berrymens, same stuff just cheaper
B12 Chemtool. 👍
Congratulations, you just took tens of thousands of miles off of your catalytic converter
I doubt he's concerned about that with that car anyway lol
Seafoam was designed for marine applications. Boats don't have Cats or oxygen sensors.
imagine not hollowing out your cats
You prefer a non hollowed cat? Why?
You guys still have cats in your cars?
Then straight pipe it the converter Is useless
I cut mine off , and straight pipes my fi50, every vehicle I get I I immediately get it off
I drive a lot of miles, I use seafoam, I put two cans in my gas tank, twice a year , you'll NOTES from day one your car will be running smooth and the motor will be more quiet, guarantee ...
Why not show how it was rough before and then how it wasn't after? Strange...
I mean this is part 3...
Never did show it in other parts either. Smell a sponsorship of some sorts.....
@@MonsterBuddy10 so there are definitely clips. Why not make a side by side comparison HERE in this video
I know right.
This saved my 2003 cr-v. It had an inability to rev beyond 2800 rpm. It was a vtec issue and seafoam fixed it. 🎉🎉
I used a can just like this in my ford edge and it damaged one of my catalytic converter’s! Real story! Expensive !
Of course it did, I keep telling people that on these videos and they just don't seem to understand. But what would you expect when you loosen up a bunch of crud and send it through the converter? The only way I would consider using seafoam in that manner was if I unhooked my converters beforehand
@@ab7rs I learned the hard way! Had to order straight from Ford dealer in California! No Go on sea foam now!
Well if your cat wasn't almost plugged it probably would be OK
Lesson learned, don’t buy shitty ass vehicles in the first place
You dont need a cat just defeat the downstream o2 and hollow your cat out, your car will run better too
Make sure you come back in three weeks when the rough idle comes back!
It’ll be sold by then!
my nephew turned me onto Sea Foam some 15 years ago. I've used it in everything from weedwackers to a '94 dodge Dakota.
Great Stuff
Just bought a 2013 ecoboost escape. Motor was knocking horribly. Used sea foam in the gas, oil and intake no more knock, injectors are quieter, car gets better mpg and more power. Great stuff
Don't use seafoam. Or any other snake oil in your cars. Fix it the right way.
It unlocks seized piston rings.
This don't make sense at all!!
Drive it 120 miles smoothly the drive only probably helps. SeaFoam is a emotional security blanket.
People would be surprised about a cleaner like this. Customers think it’s BS but sometimes it actually fixes their issue.
I’ve used that upper cylinder cleaner on a few cars and it worked wonders. It’s the only mechanic in a bottle I trust
I love it because it is a 100% petroleum based product no man-made products added
It can be used in any component of an automobile. Engine transmission power steering or differential gas or diesel it doesn’t matter great product. It has been around for years. I use it to clean my guns also
Great stuff , even got Big Jim workin again and took the rust right out.
Works great in snowmobiles. Clean ‘em right up
Just did this on my 2013 Charger SE with 195xxx miles.
Been using it since the 80's. Love it!
What strange magic this Seafoam is!!👍🏻
Seafoam works wonders I have a chrysler 300 the motor was knocking and making all kinds of noise I put a while can in the motor oil and ran it for about a week before I changed the oil and now it runs so smooth and doesn't make any noise at all it had a lifter tick and a rod knock before I put seafoam in it
I put a can of Seafoam for high mileage vehicles in my 04 f150. It’s the can with black and gold markings. It knocked carbon off and increased my mileage by almost 70 miles. But that’s highway and keeping it between 55-60 mph.
Great stuff. Works every time.
Love seafoam it has sooooo many uses!!
Bought a Camaro that sat for 11 years in a barn. Idled really rough. Put 2 bottles of sea foam with a quarter tank of gas and let it idle for an hour. Runs perfectly fine now.
I use that in my 06 and my 78 to keep them running smoother. Good stuff
The throttle body of the gm 4.2 liter junks up with oil and can cause the motor to stall when turning on the ac. Where you put the sea foam straw, it cleaned the part I am talking about. Sea foam is great and will clean up the spark plugs and valves.
Used Seafoam many of times, and always pleased with the results.
Thank you for putting safety first!!
I have a can that I use half of it per the instruction on my truck but the straw is different than a straight straw that way you can put it into the throttle body through the ducting. It's smoothed the idle of my vehicle out too.
Gets pulled over
“The mechanic told me to drive aggressively 🤓”
A guy in the auto parts store sold me a can of "New Car in a Bottle".
I asked "Does this stuff really work?"😃"
He said yeah, so I said "Great! I don't even have a car, and now I'll have a new one!"
PUT IT IN THE FUEL TANK WHEN LOW SO IT CLEANS INJECTORS.. ALSO ONE IN THE WARM ENGINE OIL RIGHT BEFORE A CHANGING.. 👍
Seafoam is practically magic
I6-4.2L great engine, tons of power!
I've used it before doing the old "Italian tune up" with a tune up to get 2 separate highileage vehicles to pass og on Cali that had previously failed.
you can put it thru your brake booster vacuum line too !!
If the idle is rough, I'll take the throttle body off, clean it out, and THEN do the seafoam to clean the intake out. It works pretty well!
You mean clean the throttle body like he did in the video right before this one?
