It's just puzzling how much ingenuity you have, and how easily you solve any problem that comes your way, or anything you want to improve. Thank you for sharing with us. You make it easier for me and others to think outside the box.
We recently picked up a 4 pack of chicken nuggets from the tractor supply. I don't have any eggs yet but I am hopeful that I can try making something similar at home. Great design!
It sure looks like it will work to me Kevin, I don`t know if the chickens like sitting on the wire or not, but I would add some sort of foam or turf to soften the landing of the eggs, and you could cut a piece of wood for the cardboard a little bigger and hook it right to your hinges, this makes gathering the eggs a piece of cake, nice idea Kevin.
It's not going to work, they will find somewhere else to lay, that's why they are laying in the upper boxes now, soon they will all lay in the upper boxes, hopefully not on the floor of the coop

good build. I'm also going to do roll away nest box when I get the laying hens. Do you find them to be much cleaner?
For sure I like them they work great thanks for the comment.
So 11 months later, what is your opinion of this upgrade? Have you made any improvements? How many eggs have broken?
No broken eggs so far I would like to lift the front up a little bit.
Sometimes the eggs don't come all the way out.
@@Robinson-Homesteaddid you end up putting in some Astro turf/carpet? Or are the hens happy enough with just the hardware cloth?
Just give them a little pad of indoor outdoor carpets the more felt like they are the better in the strip of t-shirt was perfect
