@@Danielxperez14 actually called the mobile mechanic and he did intake manifold and valve cover gasket replacement. Seems to be good now. I just got tired of chasing my tail and had to call the professional. 390k. Like a rock. First time gasket replacement, so needed it.

This is a great Idea. Thank you. I would like to ask you a question about a vacuum leak on my 2002 Ford Ranger. The brakes are sponge, and the transmission stopped shifting into high gear and the speedometer reads about 80 miles per hour when it is only going 40 . . could that be a vacuum leak?

This would help in the event of trying to hunt down an EVAP leak. Need a bi-directional scanner to command the purge valve open and shut the vent solenoid in by the tank.
Yes, i did this test on my truck, i found the leak after closing the purge valve. Yet the code p219b came back again. Finally, I found the problem and fix it. It was O2 sensor. Even though, i installed new O2 but it went bad in no time. I wasn’t expecting the O2 sensor since i replaced them all. My months of research with this code. I highly highly recommend to ONLY install the ORIGINAL OEM sensor. And to buy it from trusted dealer. As the internet full of fake O2 sensor and fuel injection put in GM box, but it fake. Sorry for my bad English, but im trying to explain my one year of suffering the code P219B and P219A. Note: truck never give O2 sensor code !!! Never use after market in some parts. PS the O2 was the best aftermarket O2 in the market 😢 Almost cost me oem sensor. I’ll be happy to share and support anyone need help. The other hidden problem with this trck was shaking On high way, i thought its tires problem, i did everything possible no help. Then i changed the u joint and it went as a butter again. Note: no symptoms of u joint was existing suck clunck or squeeze etc !! Huh …. Strange Love you all 👍🏻
What year is that truck? I thought there was a valve on the brake booster hose. I might have to run mine through there and try. I like the double bag trick on the intake.
@@Ruben2oh9 no it's not the only place. If you have the bladder that inflates with the smoke machine, then you can put the bladder in the big intake line after the MAF and send smoke in that way. @@anarchydog if you don't put the bag the smoke will escape through the air filter box. If you have the ballooning bladder that comes with some of these machines, you can also pump that up in the main intake line and send smoke in that way. One day I'll make a video on that process too. all the tests like this are really smoke pressure tests I've had a lot of vacuum leaks that leak under vacuum but not pressure so maybe it would be better to apply vacuum (vacuum cleaner) to the engine and have a very low whiff of smoke out a tube and prod it about engine and hoses to see if the smoke gets sucked in. as many a 2 cycle crankcase can stand up to a pressure test but leak like crazy under vacuum. p s I'm not having a go at you personally just the traditional smoke test used by everyone is floored
David, very interesting. I may have to give this a go. I'm not technically a mechanic, I've just been working on all of my own vehicles for the past 20-ish years. I fixed those three leaks from the video last night, cleared the codes, and I test drove today. It's still throwing the two codes for running lean on banks 1 and 2. I haven't smoked tested again but maybe I will tonight. My fuel pressure at the fuel rails seems okay at about 56psi but maybe there's still an issue there. Last week I changed the two downstream O2 monitors because one of them tested bad and I figured I might as well replace both. I replaced the MAF sensor too, just for good measure. Four months ago I also cleaned, tested and put new O-Rings on the fuel injectors. I did a video on that. All parts changed out were AC Delco except MAF sensor, that was Delphi. That's probably a bit more information than you were looking for but I just started typing and kept going! lol. Thanks for watching and the information!
Oh, and my Long Term Fuel Trim numbers don't look great. They fluctuate between ~4% - 12% at idle to ~6% - 24% while driving. So I'm definitely trying to figure this thing out.
@@shawtykillz1 not by adding smoke at this location. You would have to send smoke into the EVAP system. You can disconnect a hose that leads to the EVAP system, like the one going to the charcoal canister, then send smoke into the system that way. Make sure to follow all proper safety precautions.

i heard some brake boosters have 1 way check valves / is it safe to pump smoke through brake booster i have a 2014 mustang gt with a p0171 p0174 code
The check valve is still on the booster he disconnected the hose from it the white thing. He is not putting smoke though the booster .

Do you have a hole in your vacuum you would be sucking in more air therefore getting more air less fuel ratio would cause a lean condition

@@anarchydog also, you'd get smoke particles on your MAF. Which might not hurt it but it could probably use a cleaning afterwards just to be sure.
But what if it only leaks under pressure?
Why the smoke is not exiting by the exhaust valve ? We all know that at some point exhaust and intake can be open at the same time for air scavengine?
Normal smoke comes out from Dipstick when pull it out ?
That sounds like you have blow by. Have you done a compression test and see if your cylinders are equal and able to get up to operating pressure?
