That's kind of why I wanted to do this video I was in same boat when researching it. I do truly feel like I'm not missing out on anything with the base model. I've already added the engine guards and the smart lean tech isnt even on my mind when I'm riding
War bonnet does not light up on base models. I ordered the illuminated version to add to my base. Also, modes only changes throttle response lowest in rain and quickest in sport. There is no actual power change. stay away from zombie baffles in tab slip-ons. S&S has some great new exhausts. get a Tab Cat delete. it will reduce heat on your ankle. you should rethink the speakers in the fairing the base response and clarity will greatly improve plus you grow from a 5 band eq to a 9.
Just picked up the Titanium Smoke Challenger Darkhorse this past weekend. Nice bike so far, put the extended reach seat on bike because I am 6’3… so far it was great, took it for a ride on Sunday for 150 miles. Got stuff coming for mine, I have a BMW R1250R which has a little more HP at 136 with around 120 Ft Lbs of Torque. Nice so far.
I'm loving it so far as well weather ain't been worth a damn though I did get my 500 miles on it just got to get oil change sometime in this next week or so.
I have the scout bobber rn as my first bike and love it. However I do want something a lil bigger and more comfy. I have been looking at a challenger a lot and think would be great for my 30th bday lol
Beautiful motorcycle. Love the color. I’m considering a Road Glide, but I’m taking a test ride on this model before I pull the trigger on that purchase. Great review. Thanks for sharing.
great looking bike! You are doing an awesome job with your camera work and being in front of the camera. you are a natural. keep up the good work. cant wait to see more of your content!
I agree totally! Looks nothing like the Road Glide! I have a Street Glide Special and NEVER liked the shark nose look on the Road Glide. But I LOVE the look of the Challenger and Pursuit. It does look different and meaner as you mentioned! I believe the Challenger or Pursuit will be my next bike after this Street Glide.
I have owned my Hammer 8 Ball since 2011, last year we got my wife a Scout Bobber Sixty & I plan my next bike to be a Challenger. Like you said though, I will go give HD a fair shake & try a Road Glide just so I can be sure of my purchase. I love my Vic & will keep it but the Challenger will be great for longer rides when the wife & I want to go away for the weekend. As far exhaust, we put Tailgunner 357’s on her Scout & man do they sound good without blowing your ears out. Thanks for the review & I look forward to throwing a leg over one & experiencing what you felt on your first ride.
i definitely would go check out the new Harleys this year since they made a lot of changes to the road glide, i got to look at some and it would of been a lot closer of a choice but probable still would of chose Indian due to the power difference
Wonderful bike. Indian really did it good with this model. For me, it was either yours or Goldwing. Took them both to test, I am 6'4" / 205 lbs. The Goldwing was my choice. My co-worker has yours and he loves it. Honda needs to bring the touch screen too. The infotainment on the Indian is superb.
I found this review after test riding the Challenger Limited and was looking for the differences between it and the base model. I think base model has plenty of bells and whistles for me. The ergonomics are great and amazing power.
Just picked up the same bike. Dude, comming from a Harley its just a super smooth ride. The challenger is wicked smooth and really fun. When i saw the Titanium Smoke and compared price to a slightly used 21' DH, it was a no brainer. Just ordered some TCMT engine guards.
Yea engine guards was the first buy for me. Also they have a good looking sissy bar that comes to a point on Amazon for it that I got. Only thing I ordered and refunded was speakers for the saddlebags they were on back order for 4 months and I just got tired of waiting
@jeremyg79745 I'll check the sissybar out. I'll eventually order a advanblack tourpak. The base model is perfect base line to customize and make your own.
I was offered 10 grand for my 2016 Road Glide Ultra with 33g miles by HarleyDavidson as a trade-in .Talk about a slap on the face . My bike is beautiful and never dropped. I always keep it in the garage. HarleyDavidson told me the used whole sale market for HD bikes is very poor . How is that possible I responded, every used bike like mine you got priced between 20 to 23 grand . Thats a hell of a markup when only paying less than half . I'm so upset that now I'm looking elsewhere for another big touring bike . I sat on a K1600 B and a Goldwing. Im 6'4 " 280 pounds, those bikes felt tiny to me . Not when i sat on the challenger limited .The challenger limited may be it. Your video was helpful, and all the others I've seen . I can't understand why I never considered Indian bikes in the past . They have so many more options, and the price for them isn't in the 50 g plus . Tomorrow, I'm taking one out for a spin . I hope all I've seen and heard about Indian bikes is true . Thanks for sharing.
Yea I left a harley dealer laughing when they told me they could get me on a bike for 27% interest. And I can assure you everything your hearing is correct Harley's had great legacy but they are falling a little behind in times and a few things. I love the bike and only thing keeping me off of it is the weather where I'm at. Plan on getting a 1000 mile review out by next month
@jeremyg79745 I took the Challenger out for a spin . Omg ! Talk about smooth . I was riding over rough roads yet the bike felt like my car smooth . My first impressions were great . The shifting of gears was smooth no roughness what's so ever . To my surprise the standard mode had some torque but when I pressed the sport mode my hands nearly came off the handle bars . I've never had my Harley do that ever. Great bike
Yea I put in sport mode and came to the first stop light and put it back in standerd. I said to myself that was a little to much. Glad you enjoyed hope you end up with one
Bought the exact challenger. 800 miles, love my bike. I have stage 1 with mid baffle TAB exhaust, it’s perfect with music. Recommend getting Lloyd’z tune for added horsepower and it takes away 110MPH limit. Also, the Indian doesn’t light up on the base model.
I believe my Springfield was a 2017, and I loved it but also resented it. I traded my scout it on it and never should have. On the highway the Springfield rode as smooth as a Cadillac and it was amazing but it lacked power.
Interested I’m looking at the 2023 Springfield and challenger and will be doing test rides. Just trying to get all the pros and cons to the motorcycles. Thanks again for the great review and getting back to me
Thanks mate. Great review. You have made my mind up on which will be my next Indian to buy. I had a scout and my last bike was a 2017 Vintage Dark horse. Love honest owner reviews. Also subscribed :). Can I suggest one upgrade, getting the black brake and clutch handles. I bought them for my Darkhorse and they looked great. They are after market from China though :)
I've loved it every step of the way so far will be doing a 1000 mile review soon hopefully. And gonna address a few little things but nothing that changes my over all feelings of the bike
Nice video review. Thanks for sharing. I have a 2012 harley street glide that I made it my own. I really hate to let it go so I will stay out of the Indian dealership. 😅
How tall are you I'm 6' 4' and have 14 inch apes on my road glide special but thinking of buying a Indian challenger just curious as to comment on not changing handle bars.
For you I'd probably change still thinking of adding 14inch rise bars on them that would raise it 6 to 10inches from stock but unsure cause the stock bars are comfy. But to answer questions I am 6ft
If your wanting a tour pack the best option is to look into the indian pursuit which is the challenger but with lower fairings and trunk along with some upgrades in suspension and tech
@I'm drunk yall I see them offered, I'm just not into the lowers...I looked on the website and the king tourpack quick detach is $3900...?!?! What the hell is Indian thinking? Might as well get a Roadmaster at that point...
I believe so. Even from just looking at numbers when comparing HP, torque and everything else. The powered windshield is awesome to have as well. I feel the only thing the rode glide beats it in is after market parts are more readily available for Harley's. But the new road glide is looking nice. I've also just always had better customer service at Indian dealerships than harley dealerships.
Suggestion... dont use the double tap feature on the windscreen. Challenger owner and the plastic piece that's on the metal threaded rod strips out after consistently using the double tap feature. 2020 Challenger owner, 45,000 miles. Came from 2017 Victory X1 Magnum. Dont get the saddle bag speakers.... go with the upgrade power band speakers in fairing. Cheaper$499 saddle bags speakers run about $1,500. Both are plug and play. Lid speakers help, but not $1,500. Power Band in fairing is an unbelievable upgrade!
Already ordered the saddle bag speakers just waiting on lids to come in. And thank for the advice of the windshield honestly I just keep it up the whole time anyway so hopefully wont ever become and issue
Does your gauge housing move up & down with your hand? I was looking at a used Challenger at my local Harley dealership today. I could move the gauge housing with my hand. I'm wondering if that's common.
Bike looks badass! I can't my self to pay the Darkhorse price tag. I'm from Houston Tx... What that bike cost you you in Odessa TX? Currently ride a scout bobber.
@@jeremyg79745 for me the only thing I was wanting the Darkhorse over the base was all the black accents but the way the chrome looks on your color model is 🔥. I rather be 30k OTD door than 35k+. Looking foward to your other vids
Good review man, these bikes have really caught my attention, seems like every review I watch people are just ecstatic about these bikes and the way they perform. The biggest issue I'm having right now is reliability and longevity. And I really question the brand knowing they're bought and owned by Polaris. I hate Polaris, I think they make junk and machines that just don't hold up to long-term. They're fun machines when they're working, but just don't hold up in the long run. Only issue I see about these Indians calling just don't know what to think about that part of it.
This is my 4th Polaris bike having 3 indians and 1 victory and I can say mechanical wise I've never had an issue with any of them even after having them for years. Only issues I've ever had was small electrical things that is pretty common to find in vehicles and they always fixed them fast and in a timely manner or it was a easy at home fix
This must be ur first Polaris bike. U don’t need to hold down the starter button when starting. Just press and release, don’t want 2 burn up ur starter. 👍🏻 also the war bonnet on the base does not light up. Look under the fender, no wires. Lights up only on high models.
Nah it's my 4th Polaris bike I generally just tap it and hover my finger over it cause I've had a few almost start and stop yea I'm gonna order the fender head that lights up here soon.
After two years I traded mine. Too many issues. What ever Indian is paying those people to develop their hardware it’s too much. The ride command app sucks.
Hate to hear that, been on mine for two years and hadn't had an issue so far, and it probably comes back to what you said about whoever they use may not have good quality control, letting some go out when they shouldn't
Why do you need to waste money on speakers to annoy everyone? Wish the dealer would lower the price and take them back. I prefer a helmet with Bluetooth.
My BMW K1600B would smoke this Indian. 160HP with shift assist pro. I would leave this POS in the dirt and only hit 3200 RPM. The rider on the Indian better be tacking at 5K to even try and keep up. Never happen.
I just looked up that bike, it is the ugliest amalgamation of a sport/cruiser I've ever seen. Plus I didn't buy this bike to race it. I bought it to enjoy on the road and occasionally pull some bitches. Which from your attitude and cocky personality you probably never do on yours. You Got to love BMW riders looked up a video to just talk shit for no other reason than the fact they ride a BMW, worse than Harley riders.
Polaris needs to stay in the atv market. Those bikes are trash and nothing short of it. Tech sucks, transmissions are geared too low, tuning options are terrible and almost no customization options from Polaris themselves. Had a pursuit for 3 days, it died 4 times the first day I was able to take it out and got my money back that night. Bought another harley and never looked back.
sounds like your just a Harley fan boy making up a story to sound edgy and cope with the fact you like a company that puts out only snooze fest bike. have had 3 Indians and one victory, and have never had to put any of them in a shop for any issues plus they always have at least 20 extra HP to there Harley "equal".

I’m glad I found this video, I’m looking at getting a challenger myself and after watching this I’m sold!
Enjoyed meeting you. Fellow West Texan and Challenger owner.
it was great meeting you as well its nice knowing that the video does make its way around and help people make a decision. we need to ride sometime
The HP and Torque number that you quoted is at the crankshaft not the rear wheel.
Looks kick ass … congratulations dude
