Fantastic review - and seams to be the only one that compares the FWD and AWD models. I have test driven the twin engine XC40 and was blown away by the instant performance and overall comfort. I am very close to buying but wanted to see how the single engine compared as I've not been able to try one yet. Its a shame they are sooooo expensive here in the UK for the Ultimate spec. Thanks so much for the review

The interior is not looking pompous and the 'right in the middle' vibe gets me every time I look at it. Never regret the choice and am persuading my fam to get another Volvo now😂.

@@bosternou96 they aren’t great. I’m waiting for a set of 19s for my winters to compare them. Two problems, though - 40/45 series rims are bad news for curb rash, even with surround cameras. The 30 kWh/100km at 120 km/h look dramatically high for the 2WD version. I know it was cold and windy. But I don't think an Enyaq or Model Y would go that high if they manage it with around 21 kWh/100km at 120 km/h under good conditions.
thinking of leasing the XC40 FWD, i need to do 230km( 115 to work and 115 back) highway roads with chances of traffic jams daily. With a chance of not having a charging spot at work. Is this doable with this car even in winter?

Thanks for answering. Love your reviews. I’m deciding between a c40 core which I can get at £350 a month (leasing), or a XC40 plus (can’t get core, as it doesn’t come with parking cameras or front parking sensors) at £450… Since i like the look of the XC40 and I think the XC40 is the better choice for a family, plus more headroom at the back, i was going to go for plus XC40 for £450. However then i saw the XC40 ultimate is only £15 more than the plus a month… I was about to go for it, then I noticed the wheels are only 20’’… cannot get 19’’. Since i live in a big city and generally bag roads (UK)… I have now doubts. What would you choose? Simple C40 core for £350 XC 40 plus for £450 XC 40 ultimate for £465 XC 40 core would be £370, but it has no back parking camera!
@@autogefuehl thanks.. money wise it is the better deal. But having sat in the back of the C40, if I sit up right I hit my head on the roof. My children are young so not a concern for my general use case, but it feels like it’s not the right car for a family… the XC40 seems like the better one. Do you think the parking camera at the back and parking sensors in the front are a must have for the XC40? Cause I could also go for the xc40 core, which costs very similarly to c40.. but lacks parking camera at the back and sensors in the front
I’m looking for further info on the model year upgrade to the front grille. I have an XC40 P8 on order and I would love for it to have the new grille..
@@autogefuehl thanks. I just mean in terms of ride comfort and suspension? I’ve been able to test drive a polestar 2, but can’t find an XC40 or C40 to test. Trying to decide between them.
It's so odd that the US can only get larger wheels than Europeans can get (not something I like). And I think that in the US, we can only get 20-inch (or larger) wheels on the C40, sadly.
Maybe they'll change it for MY2023, but I think that you can still get the XC40 in the USA in 2022 with 19-inch wheels... But why not let Americans have the "more comfortable" smaller wheels also, as Thomas says...
Other than "appearance"; larger wheels weigh more, cost more and tire replacement will be more expensive....in addtion to the mentioned fact that larger wheels mean lower tire sidewalls and less comfort; albeit with a bit more responsive steering. Bottom line - consider what your priorities are.
Have a 2019 XC40 petrol. Great car and upgrading to EV later this year. Both of these look great options but not going to stay with Volvo. Tesla or Polestar likely just now. That could change!
Good work, Thomas. Does the C40 have a built-in sunshade? Or is the sunroof always letting in the light? Also, is the microfiber breathable? Have a Silver Dawn C40 on order here in Los Angeles. But concerned about comfort in Summer sun with "plastic" seats and no built-in sunshade. One pedal driving with dual motor ist ausgezeichtnet!
Could any owners share their City range ? not going over 60mph or 100kmh? I have the MG ZS EV, but the range is just so bad. I get only 125miles 20-90% But I'm looking for something that can do 200 miles 20-90% in the City. Not to mention all the issues and time spend in the service center for the MG ZS EV. What a bad luck car...
I think Volvo has lost its way; Only electric soon, that means they will lose the market from the whole of Africa (54 countries), now XC40 fuel powered, XC40 electric (but small battery powered), now C40 (which is actually an XC40) with a big battery. What happens if they decide to create another coupe the size of an actual S40 in the future? Remember the C70 (C means coupe), the C40 is NOT a coupe. Lets hope they eventuallly decided on something sensible. I must say, the review is tip top, thanks.

@@autogefuehl thanks. I just mean in terms of ride comfort and suspension? I’ve been able to test drive a polestar 2, but can’t find an XC40 or C40 to test. Trying to decide between them.
What's the actual sizes of the battery packs?
Does the C40 have the tow hitch? I don’t see it on the US configurator.
Yeah the Volvo dealer said they could add one for $1800 here in NC
Really want to test drive one of these, but so hard to find in the US.
Call it accelerator pedal :)
Good video
✌️
It's so odd that the US can only get larger wheels than Europeans can get (not something I like). And I think that in the US, we can only get 20-inch (or larger) wheels on the C40, sadly.
Yeah, it’s weird. Not a fan of huge wheels.
Maybe they'll change it for MY2023, but I think that you can still get the XC40 in the USA in 2022 with 19-inch wheels... But why not let Americans have the "more comfortable" smaller wheels also, as Thomas says...
yeah, its quite common that some markets only go with the biggest wheels, doenst make so much sense for driving
Other than "appearance"; larger wheels weigh more, cost more and tire replacement will be more expensive....in addtion to the mentioned fact that larger wheels mean lower tire sidewalls and less comfort; albeit with a bit more responsive steering. Bottom line - consider what your priorities are.
Do you have videos that are fully in German?
Nope sorry. But website autogefuehl.de
@@autogefuehl Thank you :)
I watch these videos to hear dad jokes delivered in a German accent
most welcome
Have a 2019 XC40 petrol. Great car and upgrading to EV later this year. Both of these look great options but not going to stay with Volvo. Tesla or Polestar likely just now. That could change!
For my country make more sense go to xc40, Brazil is hot as hell.
C40 has either AWD or RWD. To my understanding there is no FWD (sadly as it would be great for winter conditions)
No sunshade on the C40
bigger motor -> stronger recuperation
22:19 😂😂😂
=)
let me know when you are recharging at public stations
12:30 is that Google Assistant? sounds 99.999% to me!
Yep thats the Android automotive
한국어채널에도 올려주세요!
I want to be uploaded to the Korean channel as well.
#capacitiveBS You killed me! 😂🤣
=)
Updt. Volvo dropped the leasing price to only 4000kr (~390€). This makes it cheaper than the ID.4 and EQA in most markets!
Love VOLVO.
Is wool OK if you want a vegan car interior?

Could any owners share their City range ? not going over 60mph or 100kmh?
I have the MG ZS EV, but the range is just so bad. I get only 125miles 20-90%
But I'm looking for something that can do 200 miles 20-90% in the City.
Not to mention all the issues and time spend in the service center for the MG ZS EV. What a bad luck car...
charging is the problem. And you are not covering that?
I mentioned the long charging time
Still not convinced by the C40 design - it suffers from the “pooping dog” side profile 😬
lol
As they say, beauties in the eye of the beholder. I think the styling is awesome!
👌
The C40 look uncomfortable in the back seats.
“Current Electric”. 🙂
😂
I think Volvo has lost its way; Only electric soon, that means they will lose the market from the whole of Africa (54 countries), now XC40 fuel powered, XC40 electric (but small battery powered), now C40 (which is actually an XC40) with a big battery. What happens if they decide to create another coupe the size of an actual S40 in the future? Remember the C70 (C means coupe), the C40 is NOT a coupe. Lets hope they eventuallly decided on something sensible.
I must say, the review is tip top, thanks.
Cheers !
I doubt they care. They probably sell more cars in California than all of Africa.
@@JustMe99999 More than 54 countries? I don't have any stats so can't argue with that at the moment. I'll probably ask Volvo, see if they reply 😊
Come on get a better microphone. We couldn’t hear range due to wind….
A better microphone at 50 kmh wind? It was a freaking storm out there and trains were canceled and ships stayed in harbor sorry 😅
Final tested range is at the end of the video anyways
Just 300km range. So disappointing
