Riding the 2019 Rampart Range Spring Poker Run With Dual Sports

  • This was my very first organized ride event I have ever done. The Rampart Range Poker run usually takes place every spring and fall and costs about 25 dollars to enter. There are lots of prizes to win and food to eat. You can choose the short course which is about 20 miles or you can do the long coarse which is 40ish miles in total. They change the route up every year. This Poker Run took place in early June but Colorado decided to have some cold weather that day but still was lots of fun. unfortunately we didn't do the long course because Kyle's Honda broke but we still made it back for the prizes.
    Thanks for watching and don't forget to sign up for the next Poker Run!

    You rear break squeaks because the water crossing allowed dirt to enter the drum. Sometimes just taking it apart and cleaning everytbing will fix it but often the brake shoes are contaminated and will need to be replaced. It's a good idea to address it though because the contamination can lead to excessive wear of the drum (your wheel)

    • @TDubsKid
      @TDubsKid  5 років тому

      ill have to check it next time I have it off, I don't really mind the squeaking though

    Just FYI chains don't stretch. As it wears each link gets a little more slack which gives the illusion of it stretching.

      Do RC .. sorry you are wrong.. chains do .. lay a new chain flat on the garage floor..and bend it in a horse shoe .. when it’s really worn it will make the bend .. when new they won’t bend much.. they break down around the pins.. Been building bikes over 40 yrs.. I worked at motorcycle shops.. raced bikes.. if your sprockets are worn your chain is usually shot also.. you should always change them together otherwise you ruin them sooner..also clean chains often and lube them.. they last so much longer also properly tighten them.

    Love your videos and I love the TW. I’ve currently got my heart set on the CRF250L Rally, but every time I watch your videos I have to talk myself out of the TW all over again! The only thing keeping me from the TW is the speed, heavy traffic on my way to trails worries me. Thanks for the great content and also never stop editing in the squeaky sound when you bump into things, it’s the best! Haha!

    • @zac0912
      @zac0912 5 років тому +1

      You can get a used one and drop a 225 6 speed in it from an XT. Gets you an extra gear and top speed you need. Can even bore it a little too 250. Keep low end too. I'm currently working doing this to mine.

    • @TDubsKid
      @TDubsKid  5 років тому +1

      hey thank you! the CRF250L rally seems like a cool bike. yeah it's not a fast bike probably better to go with the CRF if your worried about the speed. the 225 swap is a neat idea but does require a bit of work and you have to source an engine. you can also do a big bore kit on the rally. just depends on your riding style, budget and height. haha thanks!

    • @64maxpower
      @64maxpower 5 років тому

      @@zac0912 yea that's all, drop while different engine in, I'm sure that's easy and cheap. The shop you buy your engine from will probably will throw in a 4 to 8 hundred dollar aftermarket shock and give you a 300 voucher for a suspension guy to modify your TW forks too for free too
      All that and the TW still won't be the bike the CRFL is.

    • @zac0912
      @zac0912 5 років тому

      @@64maxpower didn't say it would be a crf. Just gives you a bit more top end. Cheap if you do it yourself buying a used motor. I paid 150 for a running bike, they just trashed the fork. Paid 100 for another. Made all that back selking the speedo and a few other bits off the bikes. Weight difference is nothing, so nothing special needed in way of suspension. There's a guy that sells output shaft extension, which was the only hard part to the swap. Check the forums. It's really more for peeps that love tw. Definitely easier to just buy a bigger bike, but if you love the mountain goat, it's an easy swap.

    Nice video, I’m jealous of all the trails you can ride. I’m not sure if in another video, you fixed your rear brake squeak. If you still have the squeak...remove the rear wheel and use a flap disc and clean up the drum, edge to edge, swap in new back brakes or clean the old ones with brake cleaner. I’m a forklift tech, and drum squeaks are common in my life, lol.

    Hey Tdubs, the quality on this video seems a little worse than on your other ones, trees seem to pixelate and stuff. Usually that happens when you have a low bit rate. When you save your video after you're done editing, use the highest bit rate your editing software allows and you won't have any more pixelation. Typically a bit rate of 100,000 is fine.

    • @TDubsKid
      @TDubsKid  5 років тому

      are you sure your watching on 1080p? I always export in a 30 mbps bitrate which is extremly good for 1080p, I just viewed it on youtube and looks great to me if your watching on a lower quality then it will definitely look pixelated

    When you start riding a different bike, you'll see how good a rider you really are. The TW is a horrible dirt bike if you ride over 5mph
