- Here I demonstrate how to reprogram some of the settings in this universal thermostat, how to change the batteries and where they are located, and how to arm and disarm the lock out feature on this thermostat. Note: I refer to this thermostat in the video as an Emerson 800 series thermostat; however, this is an Emerson 80 series thermostat. Sorry for the mix up.

69? -- that's freezing? I just have to wonder what sort of climate you live in that you can't bear what would be regarded as a hot setting where I live. Our max setting during winter is 66, wimpo……………….

Can you adjust the temperature swing on this model? Meaning if heat is set at 70 it works until it's 72 and shuts off

Hello. Great video! One thing you did not cover is setting the fan’s run time, to make it run shorter or longer. IS there a way to modify the run time? Thank you for a great video!
This particular model that I am demonstrating in the video does not have a scheduled feature.
However, some thermostats do have the option to set a specific schedule on your thermostat for the fan, air, and or heat to turn on and off at certain times.
It works great and is easy to operate

I have dual fuel. How do I know what temp the furnace comes on. And when the heat pump comes on. I feel like even though it was 20 def last night the heat pump was still working. Yet one Sunday when it was 50 deg it said aux heat on.

MczzinLL, the cool on indicates that the ac is on. If you switch it to heat then it would say heat on. There is also an indicator that the fan is either in auto or on as well. Cool on simply indicates that your ac is powered on.

Outstanding. All I wanted to do wa change my battery. The manual that came with my thermostat was useless. No directions whatsoever. I should have come here in the first place!!!
I’m having a lot of confusion with the “aux” or auxiliary mode. I don’t want to run it in aux mode because it’s making my power bill so high. I put it on heat and then auto option on bottom right side but shortly after it says “heat on aux”. Help!

6:10 Why would you want 45F? You'd use that to just maintain a building at a minimum temp to protect the pipes from freezing but to keep your energy bills low. You'd only do that if you're not going to be occupying the building for a long time.
Good video but can you PLEASE do a video on the Emerson 1F83C-11NP Conventional (1H/1C) Thermostat. It is similar to the one in this video except for the bottom menu buttons. It is so difficult I want to pull it out the wall! Very frustrating. Thank you though for this video!

Torii B, call for service is often an indicator that something has malfunction outside with the condenser. Really It could be anything but I would start with checking for shorts, fuses, and lastly the compactor.

It depends on the model. This particular model does not have a scheduled programs feature. Although a lot of them do.

Having this same issue now. Being able to choose cool was possible just a few hrs ago.
This one is very close to what needs to be done, but as usual this video has All the irrelevant Jargon without a simple explanation to show you how to connect/reconnect to wifi and do an app set up. I'll give it a like. I'm annoyed at the lengthy explanation, but it does give somewhat of a solution. 4 stars
How do you calibrate temperature on left side of thermostat?
You would need an additional external actuate thermostat in order to do this. However, These thermostat should come pre-calibrated.

I don't like how you have to remove the whole Thermostat just to replace the batteries. Are all Non-Programmable Thermostats like that?

It will cut off when it reaches the set desired temperature.

Sabata Dupuch do you have the Emerson series 80 or a different model? If you have a different model it may be a different configuration to unlock the thermostat. What model do you have? I might be able to tell you what to do.
I'm not sure which one I have, it's the Emerson wifi, not sure about the series. But I got the internet back so I'm good for now, thanks. I looked in the Manuel the company provides and it says it cannot be unlocked without the internet, so I think the one I have you can't unlock it for any reason, which I find it to be very ridiculous.

Lilian Arias, make sure you press them at the exact same time.
The lock flashes when you press one before the other indicating that the stat is locked.

So you are probably running a programmed setting. In order for it to stay where you put it try selecting the “hold” option after setting it to your desired temperature. This will ensure that your thermostat holds whatever temperature you place it on.
That’s the easiest way; however, if you really want to get into it you could find where the program settings are and set up your own schedule for what temperature it needs to be at whatever time you want.

Ice Blue, this particular model does not have a time option. However if the one you have does have a time option there should be a selection in your menu.

my thermostat reads a big LOW what does that mean? it works but don't change temp. is something wrong with unit
jurnagin, it’s possible you are experiencing a thermostat malfunction; however, I would perform a hard factory reset on the stat and if it continues then you will know there is another issue somewhere in your unit.
jurnagin, I don’t know exactly what model stat u have but a lot of time the rest can be found in the back near the batteries. Also you could try changing the batteries as well.
bullseyenate 231 I finally figured it out, I removed the thermostat from the wall unit and heated it with blow dryer, and removed batteries, and then replaced batteries and it works perfectly! mine is wired so instead of trying to find the breaker just remove the screen part from the wall, that's where the thermostat is,
