The only step by step EGR explanation I was able to find online, super simple thank you.
Usually the ground wire fails and everything that runs on electrical need a good viable ground. Your obd 2 port tool will say insufficient ground or egr stuck open. Or closed. Usually bad shorted ground.
I just ordered one for my 1999 Silverado, it’s got an intake and no cats to a glass pack. Will not getting it tuned cause any major problems or will I be fine driving it as is, I don’t mind the check engine light I’m used to it now lol. Thanks!
Timing is a little off but definitely won’t cause it to be undrivabled
Do a cam swap and and some other goodies and youd be amazed at what these things can do with a good tune.
On a stock 2000 5.3 ls Lt version you can tune it out to 400 hp but you gotta put 91 or 93 octane or else its gonna ping and you dont want no ping. Id recommend hp tuners just cuz i know that works. Other brands are good but i can vouch for HP.
Depending on the shop your tune can cost anywhere from 150. To 500. On the eary 2000 stuff. Not sure how much after 2004. Might as well tune it for performance while your getting the correction tune.
What is the benefit in deleting the egr valve. Besides saving a few bucks
Have you seen the crap that gets accumulated in the engine from the EGR?
If you dont tune it. Its gonna run like shit guys. Its counting the unburnt exhaust gas a fuel and will constantly to correct itself and then the o2 will start tripping and its a shit sho. If you dont get it tuned it will ultimately run worse than it was.

What tune are you running? I have a 01 6.0 ls that I just pulled the throttle body and the whole intake was almost plugged solid took about 6 hrs to clean it.
I do my own tuning with hp tuners

And where can I buy the block off plates?
Real Truth it got ride of the slight smoke issue I had after but I was also having issue with mine sticking also

I will be deleting mine eventually but that will be when the cam swap is done. New timing chain high flow melling oil pump and high flow water pump. Some other doodads aswell.

You can try and find one online I’d recommend going to a local tuner
What about the egr part where you unplugged the sensor what with those parts stay in the truck ? Im running into issues rn with my truck

The truck had already been tuned before, I just shut the egr off and turned the codes off after

No because it was tuned for it, without tuning it would throw codes
With out it In will it pull up a p0171 and p0174 code

@@ProjectDirty I deleted my EGR all tree of them and felt a big difference in power and acceleration , quick throttle response . Yes it idle a little high but not much , after 10 minutes the it smooth itself like butter . After I get my tuning , should see bigger results . I have seen EGR delete videos , none show the results in acceleration or quick throttle response .

@@jamesbarlowjr.3762 You will need to find a local tuner. To my knowledge HP tuner is the best software for tuning and most tuners charge $200 and up.

What code do you get when you do the egr delete?
@@ProjectDirty What software or scanner did you use? With my 96 5.7L Vortec, since I blocked EGR ports I get very rich idle, hesitation-type acceleration from idle and check engine.
The point it's always see check engine
