- Bob Bradshaw of Custom Audio Electronics was kind enough to give us a rundown of one of his new experiments. For one of his smaller, more compact builds, he decided to utilize and modify one of the the Rockboards we had in the shop.
We started stocking Rockboards due to their durability, ease of cable management and their awesome accessories. Check out our collection here:

Bob, why are you shouting?? You're miked up, we can here you. Dude has the voice of a college professor who's learned to project his speaking voice to over a hundred kids in a small auditorium.
Probably not too much hearing left, or he's used to older microphones/preamps built into cameras that required a lot of vocal presence to be heard.
He's a switching system pedalboard guru...
jesus christ, could you have found a more charismatic person to deliver this?
And what's with the constantly choppy video?
This was a chore to even get 2 minutes through
...and the Ahm,ahm ,ahh ,ahh ,ahh ahh ,ahh ahh .FFS .Unwatchable !!!
Wow....
do you have any idea who this is??
@@roscius6204 Not a clue.
Why?
@@nuberiffic Well, it might be a good place to start. Genius is not always neat and perfect, in fact it generally isn't. Bob is responsible for so much of what we now take for granted and has probably forgotten more than we'll ever know.
Anyway, spend a minute or 2 and check out the mans history.
@@roscius6204 That doesn't change the fact that he's boring af to watch
For a sound guy, this video has surprisingly poor audio.
"You can tell these things are used in people's bedrooms" lol I feel called out
I use mine in the living room. I play percussion on the headboard when I’m in the bedroom.
I love how you scream random syllables every now and then, making the compressor hold on for dear life 😜 more of the same!
Edit: or was it just recorded too hot?
Why would someone pay someone else to “build” their pedalboard for them? It’s not brain surgery.
What flavour of the gum did Bradshaw chew?
Awesome! It would be great if you did a in depth video on you pedal board midi switcher. I remember seeing one long ago and you were 10 years ahead of everybody!
Would have been better if it was shot with a lens that could actually focus. Bokeh is neat for art, terrible for a technical explanation video.
O damn... Why there's hotone xtone on that expensive board?🤔😶
This guy is a genius at what he does. Having said that, ....., why would you have the potential of using a CAE preset (what looks like) a 8 channel setting - and like he said- having a gagillion presets per channel- then have to use the actual stomp click on each Strymon or the Eventide....arent the presets programmed into the CAE? Barring 'tap tempo' why would you want to tap dance on stage with the availability of presets?
I do this a lot with my midi controller and fx pedals. There are sections of songs where I need to quickly turn off the delay so that there are no repeats. It's much easier to just use the delay pedal to turn it off as opposed to creating another preset on my midi controller.
Why is the F-stop on the camera so tight? A tad bit distracting. Good for cinematography, but not so much for demo videos. Other than that, seeing this has given me so many ideas, thanks for all you do Bob!! Cheers!
You can tell its made in someones bedroom ;-)
Say um one more fkn time dude I swear to god
What is the xstomp box ? I'm intrigued with the morph capability.. blue tooth pedal.. can't find it online.. thanks
its hotone xtomp
That looks like one awesome build right there.
But to be honest if I'm going to go out on tour, I think I'm going to grab me a line 6 product. Just for the simple fact if something breaks down I know I can get one anywhere in the world. Something goes wrong with that on the road good luck to you.
Yes I know dude is a legend in the community but a one-off build. That can only be replaced by him is definitely not going on the road with me. It's not like you can run down to your local guitar store and pick one of those PSS.
do you really want to show that board or not ? very bad focusing and worse angle, wasting your time

Mental health?
Great video by such a big name in the industry. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'd love to pick up a few tips for the DIY pedalboard/rig builder from Bob or hear a few stories about all the famous rigs he's built!
That was cool! Thanks for sharing! I'm a die-hard rack guy though...... :)
How much does it cost approximately for a setup?
Wow really it's amazing 😲😲
Amazing system.
I wish I can find that that switching system in Indonesia :(
I’m pretty sure that Bob would send one to Indonesia!
Interesting. Don't really understand why it needs a big pedal switcher on top and another switcher underneath. Thats alotof machinery for a few pedals. Is it just to have midi? There are small switchers that do midi too, albeit with less flexibility/adaptability.
timepoint: 8:08 *LMAO! Yall see that close up shot BLUR/BLACK OUT on the CUSTOM ELECTRONICS LOGO?*
YAY BOB!
Why turn on/off strymon pedals with your foot? They can't be turned on/off via midi?
MIDI changes the presets.
They can, CC# 102 is bypass for Strymon pedals, not sure why he wouldn’t utilize that
