Thanks, my darling daughter, for this gift; sorry it took so long for me to find... I remember 16 HP covering this, and never knew it was Dylan, it's so DEE!
There's nothing 'round here I believe in 'Cept you, yeah you And there's nothing to me that's sacred 'Cept you, yeah you You're the one that reaches me You're the one that I admire Every time we meet together My soul feels like it's on fire Nothing matters to me And there's nothing I desire 'Cept you, yeah you Nothing 'round here I care to try for 'Cept you, yeah you Got nothing left to live or die for 'Cept you, yeah you There's a hymn I used to hear In the churches all the time Make me feel so good inside So peaceful, so sublime And there's nothing to remind me of that Old familiar chime 'Cept you, uh huh you Used to play in the cemetery Dance and sing and run when I was a child Never seemed strange But now I just pass mournfully by That place where the bones of life are piled I know somethin' has changed I'm a stranger here and no one sees me 'Cept you, yeah you Nothing much matters or seems to please me 'Cept you, yeah you Nothing hypnotizes me Or holds me in a spell Everything runs by me Just like water from a well Everybody wants my attention Ev'rybody's got something to sell 'Cept you, yeah you
This is one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs, and you've done an excellent version! I posted it to the Facebook group I co-administer called "A Simple Twist of Taste -- Bob Dylan Alternative of the Day." Best wishes to you, and please keep sharing your music. I'm about to listen to your version of "Wayfaring Stranger."
Picking sounds something along the lines of *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* // *4-3-2* // *5-3-2*, just *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* for the first two chords, with some 5th strings thrown in there along with some riffs, hammer ons and pull offs. Too difficult for me to identify all the subtleties, but the pattern I wrote sounds fun and good enough to play around with :) Chords are, as far as I can tell, the same exact ones as in Dylan's version (plenty of resources online about that), with C played in the 5th position (barre all strings on the 5th fret), and maybe a D with the 4th string fretted at the 4th fret (4234)... however I play it normally (0234). To summarize, I play: G: *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* Nothin' round D: *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* Here to me that's G: *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* // *4-3-2* // *5-3-2* Sacred Em: *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* // *4-3-2* // *5-3-2* 'Cept you C: *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* // *4-3-2* // *5-3-2* Yeah, you C: *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* // *4-3-2* // *5-3-2* You're the one that reaches me G: *Strum-3-2* // *5-3-2* // *4-3-2* // *5-3-2* You're the one that I admire etc.
#1 debts paid. live your life. #2 just as well you're not too familiar with bob's songs since there's 100 more in this same vein just as aching and you'd never get out of the house. so to keep you from being a recluse i suggest you skip his first 40 years and proceed directly to 2001 and 'modern times' a cd you'd do very well with. a mix of americana, folk rock, and blues. pretty safe to say most of us will still be here waiting. your seductive treatment here @2:16 on out insures it. glorious.
The tuning is standard for a five string banjo. The verse is G-D-G, the chorus is C--G--C--G-Em(played at the top of the neck)-C. It's a pretty standard folk song, though I haven't quite figured out the picking and hammer-ons.
Thanks for the chords csclarkmusic . I've been looking for a banjo tab a long time, do you or any picker you know feel like making one for me and *****?
I have no doubt that David Eugene Edwards is a committed Christian. (Listen to the the totality of his music, and see the documentary "The Preacher.") This does not mean he might not have struggles. He seems really fried here when he talks in the beginning. In other videos where I have heard him speak he seems quite lucid and articulate
@MADdwarfWorkshop Because Christians and humble people never do drugs? Is that your argument? You haven't met too many Christians, have you. Stop crying cause I made a joke about your would-be boyfriend.
This version brings tears to my eyes, every time. Such a beautiful cover.
God Bless this beautiful man and his music.
David's humilty shines through and thats what I admire most.
I am not what you call a believer but this guy got something about him, make you shiver, my guess is that art is bigger than religion
It's amazing to me how soft-spoken and almost timid DEE seems he compared with his possessed stage persona and the menacing glares.
Hello, I heard him 18 years ago, 16hp, and I knew. Dag
Alexander Strohschein I met him and that's all true
David Eugene Edwards singing a (semi) happy song? *brain explodes*
Great cover.
DEE is human, and his humanity is beautiful, because of his struggles and weaknesses and pain. Much like Dylan's humanity.
If anyone is allowed to play it, it's Edwards.
Thanks, my darling daughter, for this gift; sorry it took so long for me to find...
I remember 16 HP covering this, and never knew it was Dylan, it's so DEE!
I can't believe how humble he is. If anyone should be allowed to play this, it is him.
The guy is a legend!
Respect! I love this version.
Wow...Now that's a very nice version...Love the banjo of course, and David's voice.
dave is the man
I walked down the aisle to this 🖤🤘🖤
Once upon a time, it was going to be my wedding song. Wishing you the best.
@@KevinLarkinAngioli I hope there's not a sad story in there💚 I wish you all the best as well🙂🙏😘
There's nothing 'round here I believe in
'Cept you, yeah you
And there's nothing to me that's sacred
'Cept you, yeah you
You're the one that reaches me
You're the one that I admire
Every time we meet together
My soul feels like it's on fire
Nothing matters to me
And there's nothing I desire
'Cept you, yeah you
Nothing 'round here I care to try for
'Cept you, yeah you
Got nothing left to live or die for
'Cept you, yeah you
There's a hymn I used to hear
In the churches all the time
Make me feel so good inside
So peaceful, so sublime
And there's nothing to remind me of that
Old familiar chime
'Cept you, uh huh you
Used to play in the cemetery
Dance and sing and run when I was a child
Never seemed strange
But now I just pass mournfully by
That place where the bones of life are piled
I know somethin' has changed
I'm a stranger here and no one sees me
'Cept you, yeah you
Nothing much matters or seems to please me
'Cept you, yeah you
Nothing hypnotizes me
Or holds me in a spell
Everything runs by me
Just like water from a well
Everybody wants my attention
Ev'rybody's got something to sell
'Cept you, yeah you
this cant be more perfect..
Beautiful and heartfelt.
Fantastic song. Great version.

Pourquoi il n'y a pas assez de ces Personnes?
So, I'm not really a "folk-man", but this song is really nice, I must admit. :-)
πανεμορφο!
