- david eugene edwards plays "Wayfaring stranger" also known as "Poor Wayfaring Stranger," is a well-known spiritual/folk song about a plaintive soul on the journey through life. The journey the singer speaks of is the trials and tribulations of life.
A haunting rendition of a classic old gospel song. The hope of every Christian who's ever walked this earth.
I have never heard this song. I was in my kitchen and my laptop was in my bedroom. This song came on and I ran into my bedroom to see what it was. His voice is a magnet.
I love this version but there are many fantastic performances of it. Also check out Jack White and Johnny Cash.
@@Jeff-td1qv and don't forget Andres Scholl's version please.
Look at the Secret South album !
Jason molina had the same affect on me.
Check out 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand
This version gives me the chills. My favorite version of this song.
yes.
the best version of this song
I am just a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through a world of woe
Ain't no sickness, toil, nor danger
In that bright land to which I go
I'm goin' there to see my father
Said he'd meet me when I come
I'm only goin' over Jordan
I'm only goin' over home
I know dark clouds gonna gather 'round me
I know my way'll be rough and steep
Yet beautiful fields lye just before me
Where god's redeemed their vigils keep
I'm goin' there to see my loved ones
Gone before me one by one
I'm only goin' over Jordan
I'm only goin' over home
I'll soon be free from earthly trials
This body rest in the ol' churchyard
I'll drop this cross of self-denial
And go singing home to god
I'm goin' there to see my savior
To dwell with him no more to roam
I'm only goin' over Jordan
I'm only goin' over home
I'm only goin' over home
Great
Yes, those are the lyrics - ....
my favorite version of this song
I'm going to have to say the reverse. I found out about The Imposter by knowing knowing 16 Horsepower, check out Wovenhand, D.E.E.'s current band folks.
Always been a big fan of 16 horse power and of David's solo work. Has the soul of the poet inside him.
The man is a shaman who walks worlds with his voice. spirits around him breaking through his music weaving together broken threads of hearts, souls, and the land itself. To him and that which inspires him i give respect.
....this tugs at my broken soul with so much emotion, tears stream down my weathered face
Hb....i love the way Jesus puts the pieces back together even better than the original
this is cool, heard it on the movie 'titane' .....so captivating
ive been playing strings for 55 years and not done yet. this is good stuff thankyu. I like jack white's version as well.
The Hake Report sent me !!
The only singer that makes me feeling physically uncomfortable, in a good way that is. What a man, what a voice.
The Imposter good documentary where I heard this song
So in love with this man
I can't decide which I like better. This version, or the one he did for the movie Searching For The Wrong Eyed Jesus. I could listen to this all day.
Titane brought me here
Me too! I was mesmerized during the opening credits!
@@davidkitanov2160 Yes, the engine/pipes scenes with this song is amazing
@@leo_714 yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes! 😍
Looked this up as soon as I finished watching The Imposter! Good documentary, good song!
Hey David ... A BAND YOU YOURSELF
david σε λατρεύω...
Can anyone tell me the tuning of that high pitched tone thats penetrating my ears?
Can't believe nobody else has commented on this. The best version of this song, by anyone, and we get tones from the devils cock in our ears.
Came right efter i saw the movie/documentary as this song was played after the end credits.
Very nice fit
Is it just me or does anyone one else hear a high pitched sound
the imposter:)
Among Us maby...
Beautiful song....I just heard it on the Imposter documentary.....thank you for the post
Amazingly beautiful.
As others have said, thank you so much, TVmasterNS, for sharing it here.
Love it! Thanks for posting!
Wow superb 👏
it's from their album "Secret South" - my fav record by the band
The best version on this world!😎👏👏👍
I jam every Sat. morning with bluegrass musicians, and this song is always done. This is a fine version, but I swear, the version sung by the granddaughter of the owners of the Cook Shack, the tiny restaurant in Union Grove, NC, where we play, is even better. Fabulous but completely unknown musicians are everywhere.
for me the best version ever
Woow! 🔥👍🔥
absolutly best version of this great song...
this should have 10 million views...THE IMPOSTER documentary brought me here
Love this song !
I watched this movie so slowly. I wanted to know all the details. Chilling, suspenseful and towards the end it's a complete mind bender. I am the kind of person who can appreciate a good unknown tune chosen for the beginning of credits. This movie was good! I loved it. Loved how it ended Sister: "Fuck him!" Fake Nicholas:"Fuck everything."
way better than the album version... same with 'strawfoot' (the one with DEE in front of that shack in the forest, check it out if you don't know it... also check out HGHGo0zNvKU (nevermind the stupid video though), NfwW76JzVQI and aDATXtewPrg... Oh and nj-YNDUVzqw while you're at it :))
This is one of my favorites.
Wow....just Wow.
I meant the where was the footage from, not the song.
Thanks
I see I’m not the only one who looked up this song after watching The Imposter. Shazam.

All of us, if we but knew it.
Great Song, but this high pitch sound is awful O.o I'm sure this doesn't belong there...
Damn you
Can anyone tell me what key the banjo is?
Should be g-minor; gDGA#D
Also thia could help: www.banjohangout.org/archive/274764
***** Thank you, sir
g minor in this case
This song is actualy about "The Prodigal Son" a parable from the Bible in Luke 15:11-32
is he using clawhammer?
I watched the scene in the Wrong-Eyed Jesus documentary a bunch of times and I think it's actually 2/3 finger, the percussive sound is just from him hitting the head with his fingers.
Kitty Lasercat AWesomeness
Sounds like a drunken karaoke version of a great song. What a shame.
