  • Thought I could make it through the video without crying. No such luck. I ended up crying during my outro. Emotions come when they come! I had my Radiotherapy appointment and appointment for Capecitabine training on Friday. I knew it would be a lot, but it still was a little overwhelming. I know it's a long video, so fast forward to get through it a little quicker if you want to!

    Hi Jenny,
    Last year at this time I did 28 Radiation/ Oral Xeloda T3b Low Rectal cancer treatments. This was way worse than the Oxaliplatin/Capecitabine Chemo.
    The radiation is cumulative and I spent 9 days in bed after all the radiation therapy.
    So far so good as I have had a Complete Clinical Remission for now.
    Praying for you...

      Oof! Yeah, I heard it was cumulative and you get more fatigued as you go and that the radiation still is working a month after the last treatment. I'm so happy you are in remission!! That is great news! And thank you for the prayers! 💞

    My Dad had prostate cancer when he was in his early 80's. He drove himself with a full bladder to radiation. He is now 91!❤

      Yay, I'm glad he's still around. And that is awesome that he was able to drive himself. I'm hoping to do that, too! We'll see how it goes. ☺

    You will be OK. I drove 2 hours each way every day for 28 weekdays for my radiotherapy. keep the Urea 20% on your feet and hands to keep the Capecitabine damage to a minimum. My toes turned black,my mouth was blistered from Hot sauce.

      That is so great you were able to drive yourself every day! I will keep in mind about the lotion. And I hope your toes and mouth have healed! I know sometimes some of the side effects last for a long time.

    Oh Jenny, you reminded me of a scary time I had at a doctor's office some years back. He x-rayed my back and put me in a room to wait. Someone brought in the x-ray and stuck it up on the light box and left. I looked at that and, like you, could see my spine but then it was just a couple of large black blobs. That looked bad to me. I started wondering if I should call Phil to be there for the bad news. When the doctor finally came in, he discussed the concerns he had about my back. When I asked about the big black areas he seemed puzzled, and then said "Oh, those are just gas!" I was very relieved, but also a bit mortified!
    Wishing you good days as you continue on this journey.

    Trick for drinking yucky stuff: Use a straw, and the end of the straw in your mouth should be as far back on your tongue as you can put it. That way, the fluid’s in the straw when it’s passing above most of your taste buds! There aren’t as many taste buds way back in your mouth. I had to do a ton of drinking contrast for a number of years, and that saved me! I also sang to myself in my mind, swallowing in time to the music. Or earbud some music you love…loudly!!!! All the best to you. 🤗🤗🤗

    Sending you love, strength, and prayers. 🙏❤ The squirt bottle is an excellent idea...I have a colonoscopy soon and I may try that for the prep part of it.

      Thank you! And yes, that would be a good idea. I know when I had my colonoscopy the nurse mentioned getting some wipes as they may be less abrasive than toilet tissue. Good to have options! Good luck! 💞

    When the doc showed you your scans, did he mention if your tumor has shrunk at all from the chemo?

    • @jennyrice2216
      @jennyrice2216  11 місяців тому +2

      The scans he showed us were the original. I had another scan that day, so hopefully he will know that information on my next visit with him. I'm interested to know. ☺
