The drop portal guy seems like a wraith build from Apex. Honestly, I'm intrigued. Apex was always a fav, but there's so many heroes now. Might be neat to start from the ground with new game.
My theory for the drop portal is it just connects to one you’ve already put on a wall.
That would allow for a lot more player expression.
You're correct, just went back and watched it frame by frame, and you can see his other portal on the wall!

The character at 5:58 says "muting chat", not "mute in chat" to his teammate. I found it a bit hard to understand too tho to be fair.

I wonder how popular its reboot will be, I doubt anywhere near the opening on the first one because tons of streamers were on it but I hope it at least gets some attention
It'll be bigger than the first one, they're releasing on 4 platforms this time at launch, and have a HUGE marketing budget to reach people

It's not a hero shooter, it's more like destiny pvp with three classes that you can customize and obtain cosmetics for. But only three, not 20 separate heroes with different abilities.
It's only a marginally different system, the fact is they steered away from arena, but I will play it and see how it is, like I said, cautious but definitely will play
We technically don’t know that yet. Unlike destiny the three “classes” have names.
The hope is they don’t try to market the game similar to apex where they charge money to buy new characters or in this games case “factions”
Both nadestraight and I are hoping for the system you suggest they will have. It’s just hard to be purely optimistic when this game has investors involved that would like to see monitization similar to apex or overwatch.

"Faction shooter" isn't an industry term, it's marketing jargon. It might not be a hero shooter, but it's a class based shooter at best, which is marginally different
Perhaps it ain't a hero shooter and the drop wall and the drop portal and stuff are like the abilities in titanfall 2.

How does bro manage to constantly assume that what we are seeing is the worst possibility.
Not assuming the worst, just stating what it seems like / what it could be. The video has positive takeaways too, I like the fact that the sandbox is expanding with drop walls, drop portals, the tron disk and the ability to slow down time, I also know the visuals will be a huge improvement. My only complaint is the classes stuff, so this comment is kinda silly
i really hope this game doesnt drop near the same time as gta 6 because that game is likely gonna disrupt the entire rest of the gaming industry and any game that drops at that time will likely be forgotten
Even if it drops a few months outside of GTA 6, that's still a very short lifespan, they'd have to drop at least 6 months apart and I doubt that'll happen haha

The “factions” have different names from the characters
The characters are flash, mira, and rhinok.
My hope is the characters stay as a part of the marketing and stay separate from the “factions”
I’m assuming they are going the same route as the finals and destiny instead of the overwatch and valorant route.

Hopefully the names being separate from the factions is very intentional.
I really like the system the finals has with the light medium and heavy classes that have customizable loadouts.
Not sure if I would consider the finals or destiny as hero shooters since they don’t really make an emphasis on the characters themselves and put the gameplay first but for splitgate I feel like it’s really on the line between. I’m Optimistic.
And I guess I should mention they don’t monetize the idea of new classes. They just continue to release new tools and weapons for each of the 3 classes and monetize the game via cosmetics and in destiny 2s case dlc
If splitgate goes this route I think they can appease both the materialistic audience that likes their skins and quirky character interactions while still cherishing their player base that actually just loves the game itself
This part is key, I don't want it to become an apex situation where you have to purchase new characters and it gets saturated really fast with how many there are

id guess these characters are just skins, that belong in different factions, its what seems the most likely with the way they are describing it

Sorry but, faction based shooter is marketing jargon for class based shooter is it not? I know they're different (class and hero) but it's roughly the same idea, no longer even playing field / pick up weapons as you go, it'll be a load out system.
I hope I enjoy it, but so far few games of this style have managed to capture me
