The jetpack in splitgate is one of the most overlooked aspects, *elevating* the movement to another level. It's not enough to be used as a mobility tool by itself, but it has enough juice and gives the player enough control that it works really well with the high velocity gunplay, and helps conteract the pretty high TTK

And it truly makes you invincible at the game, and you eventually can see the actual skill gap with each player you fight.

Just found out about this game last night. I’m already in love and the game is not dead as this video suggests. I played all night long and never had a problem finding a game once.
@@blvckl0tcs750 I have yet to see a more inventive FPS that perfectly balanced daily/weekly/seasonal challenges with great rewards for those that just played for dree and good rewards for BP purchasers. And actual live service support. Hasn't been a AAA game that can hold a candle to them in that regard from my experience. Either too greedy, not enough free content to make it worth it, too grindy, not enough content in general, too much content(pay to win) slow support, bad updates, game sucked to begin with and missed the mark and then took too long to come into it's own.
@@jakboling cause your view of fps is so limiting youve trapped yourself in live service. The introduction of CS2, Valorant, Halo infinite does a great job but it's issue is content drought. I don't care about times rewards, but more on how the game plays which is exactly why split gate died off in the first place. Hell even apex and cod does the same thing you speak of. Realistically coop fps are a great field with so few investing.
@@blvckl0tcs750 halo flopped so hard it's not even funny. They are only just now sort of getting to a point it's good. Over a year and a half after launch. To the point player base just isn't there. It basically is allowing developers to launch unfinished projects and to forever remain in a "beta" state. Splitgate included mind you. Which for a small studio like 1047 was ok but 343? Give me a break. Or dice with BF2042. At least splitgate FELT good from the get go. Gun play was on point as was weapon balance vs player skill and had no crazy attachments that gave you huge advantages. Class based fps is getting boring at this point really. I never played this game when it was popular but I still had fun when trying it (probably playing with bots idk). As both a halo infinite and portal fan it's just so good. I am very sad.
I lost interest in splitgate in the beginning stages when the developers said that they'd be pursuing lootboxes as an avenue for monetization as opposed to simply being able to *purchase* cosmetics. I responded by promptly leaving the discord and forgetting this game existed. Never looked back, then when I saw it turned into Halo: Fortnite Edition I just rolled my eyes and moved on with my life. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
@@RedshirtAfficionado you could purchase cosmetics from release. Lootboxes were free from progression on the side. Halo: fortnite edition? Wtf does that even mean? Fortnites the biggest game in the world by miles
@@morky3673 Ok, but that's not what I said. I said I left because the devs were saying that they wanted to pursue lootboxes as monetization, and that I never came back. I never made any allusion to how they function in game now. TL:DR Cope harder fanboy.
I really loved the game and I got pretty damn good at it, triple portaling and almost always coming in first and all that. I remember being creative with flank routes and how I was crossing the map. It felt really rewarding and fun. There wasn’t anything like it man. Then I found out that as the game started to lose its popularity I was fighting against all bots and took away all satisfaction from getting kills and using portals in unique and interesting ways. In the beginning I knew I was winning because I was being more creative than my opponent. Then it was just because they were bots and had no clue what they were doing
From what I saw, the biggest problem was that the skill factor was almost completely negated by portal peeking. So even if you did spend time getting good at the mechanics of the game, it didn't really matter. It reminds me a lot of Apex Legends, where there's all of this crazy, fun movement but the game tends to come down to who can hide better.
I guess splitgate is an example for how important branding is. If your game is known for having the characters from halo, the portals from portal and the battle passes from fortnite, then it's no wonder how unrecognisable this game is, despite how fun the gameplay may be
Splitgate is definitely a special game, one of the most rewarding games I have ever competed in. Being a pro player in this game was a great experience but it was extremely frustrating that so few people know how good of a game it really is.
The pub matches were full of bots in matchmaking and competitive had the most colorless, vanilla looking maps of any game ever. That’s why I quit playing.
This video is basically that Homelander meme for me "it was perfect" damn it I forgot the rest of the line but yeah man, this is my first video of yours that I saw and I didn't expect to be cracking up so much, what a nice video to watch on my birthday, thank you for the laughs and I'll probably see you around in split gate since you made me really interested in playing it again, honestly I wouldn't surprised that you made at least another 100 people redownload the game because of how well you made this video haha so good stuff man, I'm subbed now!:)
The problem with Splitgate is that it plays more like a tech demo. There is a really cool concept in the movement and the additional (massive) skill gap that is created by it. The big problem is, movement shooters exist already. Want a fast paced shooter? Apex/cod/halo. Innovation isn’t enough sometimes. You have the hook. But there is no meat. It’s all just fluff.
I was top 50 on ps5. The game was so good, but the fact there wasn’t way to turn off cross play in ranked was so bad. Splitgate is a PC dominated game. All the highest ranked players are PC. You will beat other console players, but you just won’t be able to swing around like you can on pc
Ok so im a big pub g guy. My son always wants yto play but ends up getting killed. I downloaded this game and both of us cant stop playing it. Very underated game love the concept only thinh is i wish yu could have bigger mags gor guns
I didn’t forget about it. Kids just started getting too sweaty with the portals. Just like when kids got too sweaty with building in fortnite lol. It was enough to make me stop playing.
My favourite mode is domination on the custom Industrial map, theres 3 hills and the map is perfectly designed: Point A can he reached from C and vice versa, point B is open on all sides but is isolated form the rest while still having good defendability, and the map itself is insanely well suited to Splitgate's movement tech, the jetpack being am incredibly useful tool that should not be forgotten!
i actually liked splitgate a lot but i noticed my matches were FILLED with BOTS. i just can’t feel like i’m playing a competitive game if i’m just Doming bots around every corner. it was ez mode.
Two interesting things I like about this game are the the fact I can customize the crosshairs and that I can jump in and out of the water in the resort map and be a sneaky little rat
The reason I loved this game so much was because it allowed me to play on keyboard and mouse on my ps5. It's something still really for Xbox and series x fps
I'll never forget playing Splitgate for the first time because it genuinely gave me a new experience with gaming that I hadn't felt in YEARS, genuinely shocked this game never served as a spiritual successor to replace Halo, if anyone hasn't tried shooting fools through portals or seeing how much that can influence how one plays an FPS I highly recommend giving this game a look
Personally, I never played it because it felt like players (from clips I saw online) became unreasonably good and sweaty instantly. Don’t get me wrong, players getting good is part of any gaming experience, but the skill chasm looked so great/daunting to a new/potential player that the idea of trying to hop in and learn the game was very unattractive. There was no ramping learning curve that looked immediately apparent. Obviously this is just my own experience and an EXTREMELY hard one to do anything about as a developer since again, players getting good at a game is only natural, but the rate at which they started tapping the skill ceiling was a little too quickly for me to ever want to try it.
Really, really, really good concept. I would've loved to see it's ideas painted on the canvas of a larger budget and scale. I'm sure whatever 1047 does next will be fun as heck though.
Especially since they've already mentioned their next game will keep the portal mechanics of Splitgate. I think it will be 1047's Definitive Portal Shooter.
7:14 dude, you literally scared me. My name is David and, at the moment I was watching this video, I was using a black shirt. I can´t belive that, among all the possibilities, you guessed correctly. Ironically, that´s the reason I am downloading the game right now.
I came into the Splitgate Community late, close after they announced the end of it's development. I still play it at least once or twice a week simply because I know that even if I'm not good, I can still learn from others and have fun with the ridiculous ways they've killed me. Several times now I've had fights where we take each other out simultaneously with BFBs.
Great video and absolutely based taste. I've played Splitgate semi regularly since launch and it's without a doubt in my top 5, maybe even top 3 PvP FPSs. Even now on life support it controls amazing on pad or mouse, it's incredibly feature rich and somehow despite the population I've never once waited more than 1 minute for a game. I love the folks at 1047 so much for creating a shooter this good and I hope they find great success with their next Splitgate venture, they have serious talent. Hopefully see you online sometime!
Once in a year me and my friends have a lan party. We ultimately always settle on Splitgate in the last few years. Coming back always feels great, I love this game so much.

Just found out about this game last night. I’m already in love and the game is not dead as this video suggests. I played all night long and never had a problem finding a game once.
I came back to the game yesterday and its so fun again
I am also planning to download and play it
AGREED! Best game in the last 10ish years I'd say. Hope the next installment they come out with plays as good.
lmao absolutely not. you gotta be living under a rock to make that kinda statement.
They moved on. They definitely didn't have a truly live service game. And barely do now.
I personally don't love the live service movement right now.
There are sooooo many and none of them do anything that different from others really. Its a worn out sub genre of fps.
Hell drg is the best class based fps PVE game out there imo compared to any of the other big ones.
@@blvckl0tcs750 chill bro, this is just his opnion, you have no reason to attack him, everyone has an opinion and it should be respected, just as I respect yours
I still play this game on a daily basis being the highest player with almost 700 day playstreak and being a splitgate MVP, Really enjoyed this video! great refresher to hear for sure
Couldnt have been any further off the ball but okay mate.
@@morky3673 Nah I really don't think it is "mate"
@@RedshirtAfficionado you could purchase cosmetics from release. Lootboxes were free from progression on the side. Halo: fortnite edition? Wtf does that even mean? Fortnites the biggest game in the world by miles
@@morky3673 Ok, but that's not what I said. I said I left because the devs were saying that they wanted to pursue lootboxes as monetization, and that I never came back. I never made any allusion to how they function in game now.
TL:DR Cope harder fanboy.

Halo 2's battle rifle is godlike mate
Splitgate is underrated ngl
YES
So underrated
really good editing .p.s. bring back splitgate
This is just one of those games that is pure fun. No boring, drawn out missions, no waiting around, no grinding, just pure, fun action
Brush he said my name and outfit and it shook me to my core
I mean bruh
devs said the abandoned the game to focus on a sort of remake on UE5, so splitgate isn't dead, it's just sleeping
It’s all just fluff.
my name is david and i'm wearing a black t-shirt and now my whole body is warm and i'm kinda freaked out
Remember playing this on my xbox.
Wow my name is david and im wearing a black tshirt that is officially the most accurate someone has guessed me in a youtube video, this is epic 😎
Very underated game love the concept only thinh is i wish yu could have bigger mags gor guns
played this game for over a year it is one of my favourite games and should have been a real competitor
Started playing it this week w 4 friends and we all loved it, Action packed and w lots of movement
I started playing Splitgate on Monday, and I can say that this game lets players do something that most games today don't
Have fun
I didn’t forget about it. Kids just started getting too sweaty with the portals. Just like when kids got too sweaty with building in fortnite lol. It was enough to make me stop playing.
My favourite mode is domination on the custom Industrial map, theres 3 hills and the map is perfectly designed:
Point A can he reached from C and vice versa, point B is open on all sides but is isolated form the rest while still having good defendability, and the map itself is insanely well suited to Splitgate's movement tech, the jetpack being am incredibly useful tool that should not be forgotten!
Splitgate’s a lot of fun, I really kinda wish they’d make a campaign update
I was just playing this last night it literally takes 2 seconds to find a match in any game mode. Love this game
wait bro... 7:15 HE KNOWS WHO I AMMMMMM WHAT THE HELLL
i actually liked splitgate a lot but i noticed my matches were FILLED with BOTS. i just can’t feel like i’m playing a competitive game if i’m just Doming bots around every corner. it was ez mode.
7:14 why is that so specific and why is it so on point bro. I legit had a bruh moment
Jfc my name is actually David and I'm currently wearing a black tee what the hell man
I'll never forget playing Splitgate for the first time because it genuinely gave me a new experience with gaming that I hadn't felt in YEARS, genuinely shocked this game never served as a spiritual successor to replace Halo, if anyone hasn't tried shooting fools through portals or seeing how much that can influence how one plays an FPS I highly recommend giving this game a look
The feeling of witnessing this game go from dead beta to server-breaking console launch to dead (but multiplatform) has been surreal to say the least.
That poor David
Just started playing again. Thanks for the video!
@@diego032912 I'm really looking forward to it

dude, you literally scared me.
Its crazy how massive split gate got for like 1 month and than just died it was so random of a blowup and just as fast if a blowdown
