    Thanks Amanda!
Known computers for decades but never really understood where the north and south bridges were, or what they were.

Thank you, I now can actually understand what those two random heat sinks on my motherboards are, it’s the chipsets, awesome!

Ignore the "outdated" comments. If you're working in IT, you can expect to work with vast systems. Not every company will have the latest technology, especially within government. It is better to be well-rounded. I came to this video because I was asked about Northbridge and Southbridge, and I didn't know the answer. Instead of chalking it off, I chose to learn about it.

I've heard these terms thrown around by expert builders before and I was curious cause I've only worked with modern hardware when building my gaming PC. Thanks for this clarification! Was genuinely curious about it.

    SOUTH BRIDGE:__ Shuts down
    COMPUTER:__ Fails to turn on
    ,

It is like saying the brain is more important than the heart. I mean it is responsible for more, but it isn't going far if it is completely shut down.

Right? Both control integral components but north just controls more than south. The way I remember it is that the northbridge controls more integral parts [higher up=more important], and the southbridge controls fewer integral parts [lower=less important]

Actually not correct, South Bridge controls all on a Motherboard: Gpu, Ram and Especially CPU, if your chipset goes malfanction, your GPU will be not detected, or you will have issue with Ram, and overall perfomance can be tripple cutted. I don't know why always does and says that Chipset does nothing with GPU CPU and Ram, it's kinda frustrating... + within chipset we have Intel ME it controls whole pc

We are soon in 2021. Your video was released in august 2020. It's been more than 8 years now the NorthBridge vanished from the Chipset architecture. You are more than 8 years late. And I won't even talk about the fact you dared talk about the ISA bus, which died more than 25 years ago.

Our videos are meant for beginners, so those technologies were mentioned for historical context, and completeness.
