Bought it cannot be happier. Front strap, talon like grips, stiff, sure not a problem. Great shooter, no jams. Worth it.

This is my first EDC gun and I’m glad you hit some points I didn’t hear when I was watching reviews for the gun and it’s the weight. It definitely makes you think about what you’re gonna have to wear that day. I also appreciate the ammo suggestions. I will have to try different grains.
I’m new to CCing and guns in general and I’m not sure if these problems are due to my gun or me but I have encountered some serious problems with this gun.
    -failures to feed
-when I load a mag sometimes it doesn’t seat properly
-when I eject a full magazine sometimes the first round is forward halfway out of the magazine.
-it seems picky with 9mm ammo
(Jams with Ficcochi 115g and Federal 115g)
I’ve seen some suggestions for changing the recoil spring, loading 8 instead of 9, and buying wilson combat mags. I’d appreciate your advice and I really enjoyed your video!

The problems you describe would eliminate this as a carry gun for me. They are probably all fixable, but at what cost and nuisance?
Let me suggest a da/SA handgun. Examples are:
      Taurus TH9 or TH9C, slightly over $300.
Beretta PX-4 Storm, full or compact size. Slightly over $600, less if on sale.
SIG P229, any model. Used if you can find it. I personally avoid the DAK trigger, prefer SA/da. Used from under $600. New from $1,000+ to over $2,400.
There is also H&K, the P30 or P2000, $700 range.
Good luck. Thanks for your comment, I was considering a Ronin and leaning against it now.

Thanks for the advice man! I’m new to all this EDC stuff and everyone I’ve talked to has been really helpful so far.
Yeah, it’s a real big shame. I love this gun and when it works it is an amazing shoot. I will be sending mine to SA for inspection and if it’s fixed I’ll give it another chance as my EDC. That’s the nice part of that Life Time Warranty.
Some more things I found out.
I called SA and was told that with the magazine seating issues is a known design flaw with the shorter 1911’s mostly with the 3” Ronins. So you better be careful loading one in the chamber and unloading the gun cause the top round in the mag will pop right out.
Also, their magazines are proprietary. I found that out trying to buy wilson combat mags in hopes of fixing my issues.
I honestly wouldn’t recommend this gun if you don’t want the hassle of mags and weird reliability issues. It might be just my gun though as I did find what looks to be defects in the feed ramp (but hell what do I know 🤣)

@@MrDeath2iPod man, sorry to hear about your bad experience, especially on your first handgun.
Here's my two cents of unasked for advice:
      1. I would never trust this firearm to carry. Send it to the factory if need be, but if it were me, I would either sell it, or regulate it to strictly a range gun. It really is pretty, but unreliable like a cheating girlfriend. Crazy to keep either around.
      2. IDK who advised you, but a 1911 platform is probably about the LAST thing I would suggest for a new shooter. None of my business, but I would really be cautious of anything else that person told me.
This is a really broad subject. If you want some suggestions, feel free to reply back and ask. Otherwise, I will keep my mouth shut.

I bought this, $799.. It shoots great, feels great, the bull barrel is great, but the take down with the paper clip is stupid! The slid lock is so stiff I had problems trying not to do the idiot scratch, to snap it back in. The front strap is smooth...The lower silver frame marks/ scratches very easy..I'm 50 50, I may sell it, I think Ruger has a better 1911 9mm commander.

Thanks for the very insightful comment. Can I ask if you think for my first gun that the ruger is worth it over the Ronin? Thinking I could put the money I save into a good safe (live in CT and have a kid so this is a big consideration)

@@ste4282 Both are reliable, I personally would go for the Ronin if i had to chose (used prices are around $550 up here in New Hampshire). Personally though, I'd choose something like the Sig P365 for a first gun. It's a little more compact and less weight. Ask yourself, what's the biggest and heaviest gun you're willing to carry on you everyday, all day .... then choose a gun based off that. Above all though, practice practice practice ...... and welcome to the carry community!

I have the full size version and I absolutely love it but I definitely agree with you as far as the take down and take apart is concerned it can be a pain in the butt especially when you have arthritis in your hands .!!!! I think im just going to have to live with giving it the idiot treatment and scratch it all to hell

The Ronin is a nice gun that is beautiful esthetic wise. The one thing I wish you and all You Tubers who produce gun videos or stories would be to not recommend a handgun that only comes with one magazine. For the price they should give you 3 mags. These companies are making a killing on these guns with their astronomical prices and cheap junky service on accesories i:e another mag

I've wanted this 4" Model since the first time I saw it Nov 1st 2022 , i just saw this 4" at a local shop for 746.oo which I've never seen before.. However the ejector plug was hanging out just a little on the back, i wasn't sure if that was correct, so I found your video to verify it , its that way on your's also . Oh yes, it only comes with one mag and the shop didn't have any on shelves. I think it's still a great deal though.

I’m thinking about getting one of these, but it would be a compromise. I really, really want a true officer’s model 9mm 911. But damn, they are hard to come by. It’s like, I can either get a Taurus or Girsan cheapo, or an astronomically priced good one. But it seems like there are none in the middle. A 1911 9mm, 3.5 inch barrel, short grip. Is that too much to ask?! And an officer’s model with a GI guide rod? Not a chance. It’s like it was a fever dream.

    No front strap checkering.
    HARD PASS 👎👎👎
There’s no reason in today’s day and age why Springfield can’t put front strap checkering on their 1911’s. If Tisas can do it for a reasonable price, so can Springfield Armory.

If they offered it on the lower-end guns nobody would buy the more expensive models. They can sell a checkered TRP for $600 more than a smooth Operator
Okay. You get a $30 Magwell too 💸
