As an avid GW2 player, it hurts a bit to see people complaining about the graphics or saying they are glad they didn't install it. Just wanna mention a few things: First, it's a game from 2012 that obviously doesn't have the graphic fidelity of recent titles. However, I personally prefer this art style over games like BDO that just focus on (somewhat) realism. Second, this area in the game is a starter zone and is not representative of the world design in GW2. There are maps that look absolutely gorgeous and enormous, there's a reason this game gets praised for map design, mount mechanics and other things. Maybe I'm biased, but I haven't found a single MMO that looks this gorgeous in some areas. FF14, ESO, WoW they all look decent but none of that has the map complexity GW2 has. I can only invite you to try out this game, it's really fun and maybe making own experiences is better than just watching a vid on UA-cam. Have fun :)
yep, gw2 early maps have definitely shown its age but it's artistic direction is timeless. like some core tyria maps are still incredibly beautiful, and the later maps are huge and a joy to explore... not to mention if were actually going to compare ESO or FF14 graphics and animations.. they dont even come close to gw2 lol, this is coming from someone who enjoys all 3 of them
There is nothing wrong with GW2 graphics. I replaced my 24" monitor with 32" 4k just for GW2 (and I still remember when I started playing GW1 on a 15" CRT). Besides if people are deciding whether to play or not to play an MMO based on their perception of the graphics they are in the wrong genre.
When my friend invited me to play Guild Wars 2, I was hesitant at first because of the graphics- then I got hooked with the gameplay and I could no longer stop myself from exploring the world, grinding levels, finding the best gear AND clothing (fashion wars 2) and getting invested with the lore and story. Until I hit level 80 in the base game and decided, "yeah I'm gonna buy the expansions"- and mygosh the expansions and the mounts are something else. The mounts especially are just top tier. I don't think any other MMO nailed mounts except GW2. It's definitely the best MMO I've every played!
I agreed with everything you were saying up until the challenge of 'I haven't seen a single mmo that looks this gorgeous in some areas' lol. I love Guild Wars 2 but FFXIV most definitely has areas that are more beautifully superior, stunning and gorgeous than GW2 to where it isnt comparable. It's the same with another one of your mentions being ESO. ESO definitely has many vibrant areas that please the eye, while not on the scale of FFXIV. I was going to mention other games that are 'technically' mmos, like Destiny and Warframe but I don't think that's what you meant by your list of context. WoW areas look outdated as hell, nothing more to add on that lol. Map complexity is another thing though, of which I again agree with you. Graphics don't make the game, it's the story, gameplay and engagement that does. However you can't just state something that's just untrue like what you said before. I do understand that it's through bias, but still.
I have been trying to record my videos with that quality and I don't get the same results as your video. Care to share the software you use and the settings? Thanks in advance and have a wonderful 2024.
Yeah, that is noticeably better looking than what I'm used to seeing on my 1080P monitor with my RX 580 8gb video card & Ryzen 7 5800 CPU. Just ordered a new RX 6700XT video card replacement w/12gb VRAM, so it should help a little.
You won't regret it, but don't rush, and ask the community for help when you have any questions, or just things you don't understand. GW2 is different than all other MMORPG's out there, so the worst thing you can do is start playing it with preconceived ideas of how it should be, or comparing it to other games. Welcome to Tyria, and enjoy the ride.
This kind of games I like, its really a world where my character really walks in it, and the story does not feel linear lol Love the animations and graphics. Maybe that is the things that made me feel this way?
Hello, I would like to ask if my graphics card is 3070, the screen is 2K resolution, the 20 graphics card is 3070, the screen is GIGABYTE G34WQC A 34 inches 1,3440 x 1440 VA 1500R, the picture cannot achieve the clear effect in the video when HDR is turned on, is it a 4K monitor? Does it matter?
for single player roaming u can get fps on low end pc too for this game , ask him to try in wvw zerg with more then 100 players or world bosses which are in latest expansion pack where 50 players join, then u will know what is fps quality
I mean, that's basically the point of this video. To just walk around a bit, showing the graphics and basic gameplay. Even though the starter zone is probably not the best area to represent the overall world design, as the gameplay and map design get much more complex over time
Resident sleeper combat system, imagine saying this is Action Combat only because you don't have to point and click mobs. The animations of literally everything are pure ecks dee as well. Graphics are not that bad but still, this is the look Dragon Age 1 had back in 2009...
The Game Is Old and it is a MMO so it will not be Played by me because MMOs take so many months away from other games where you dont have to grind. The Only thing is the Big Mountains or other Art to Look at other than that the AGE of the Game is Noticeable

you can actually turn on action camera and besides that, the standard combat is a hybrid and one of the best combat systems in MMOS...but sure, complain first before getting info

Nice clip, extremely appreciated the total absence of (unuseful) blablabla yaddayadda: just gameplay. TYVM for sharing.
Shooting this in beginner village is a massive disservice to the game.
Seems alright, it survived more than others, yet best mmorpg i played was Archlord 1 and Terra, to me at least

Have you tried it already?
it's definitely worth trying

Great game! Especially the World vs world fighting!
How much do you interact with other players in this game, are all the people running around npc or other players ?

Would be better if showcase expansions / end game zones and not starter zone...
I zapped through the video and maybe i wasn't lucky, but it made it look like a walking simulator xD
That's mmos for ya, no matter what they always look like walking simulators

what's your pc specs and monitor?
It's in the description
These comments show how many people pass up such good gameplay because of the graphics. GW2 is a classic. The same people probably still play Skyrim.
I wonder why they don't put this on ps5.. Seems like the combat would work on a controller..
Este juego es el ambiente que necesitaba pero para una nueva aventura de leyenda of zelda 😢😢😢
I’ll accept any game that’s been composed by Jeremy Soule
lineage 2, 20 years ago have same graphic.
jungs ist das spiel gut ???
Loa Norn son lo mejor, ami me encantan tipo vikingos
when GW3?
I am happy some people like it But it Looks terrible to me rubbish , maybe i played fallout too much.
bro is playing in beginner level 2000's map. Surely it wouldnt look the best
Why do some people keep playing the music its so annoying.
this game is free now...probably because they are not going to improve on graphics....
I'm donating GOLD in GW2

character looks terrible on purpose?
no difference between full HD and 4K LOL
intro is too loud
it's not horrible... just outdated
Game looks worse then lord of the rings online and that came out in 2007
lmao
crafting games suck and waste time! Just give players access to proper gear and items and make boss/pve fights skill based.

this game look so ghetto
damn this game age well...it looks like f2p steam trash
Wow this game looks like 2000’s garbage and it has tab target combat. How does garbage like this even exist in 2023? Action combat should be the norm.
