    Its a 3 way fridge im guessing, the van needs to be totally level and because they work by heat absorption they are not as effective as a compressor type fridge which actually cools instead of removing heat.... On hot days its important that you have good airflow behind the fridge, check your vents are clear... You can install a fan behind the fridge to draw air through the vents to make them more effective. Our caravan here in Australia has a 3 way (absorption) fridge and here they fit what they call a "Darwin Dome" which is a vent on the roof with a fan that draws the hot air out the roof.... it makes the fridge far more effective for the tropical conditions :) Keep up the good work :)

    I am so pleased you are moving away from the sterile caravan parks back to basics! I remember when we chatted Mazey and I asked why you did not wild camp and you told me because you could afford the sites, but we live to adventure so I am so glad you both are hitting the trail again. We live in our caravan and the fridge hasn't been below about 8 degrees for a week. I'd imagine if it had been off it would take a very long time to cool, so it's probably just that

    Depending on your fridge , in these hight temperatures your fridge will take longer to cool , iam a electrician and a refrigeration engineer I have made a small 12v fan to move air over the back of the fridge witch helps with the transfer of the different refrigerants to mix better and cool better, there are videos on Internet showing how to do it and also some companies that sell a kit that evern you could install Dan, the solar panel on your roof generally is used to top up and keep your starter and leisure batteries charged, hope this info helps 😊👍

    I can’t agree that no campsites have a mobile data signal . There are some that are in bad signal areas but we never have much of a problem . Do you have a mobile router and aerial ? How was the signal at Hereford Rowing Club campsite?

    • @TravelTrollsTV
      @TravelTrollsTV  3 роки тому

      having a signal is one thing. Having a signal strong enough to upload to UA-cam is completely different and that's what I am saying we rarely get on a campsite.

    The cooling plate in the freezer cools the entire fridge... if the plate is not freezing it may need recharging. Put your hand on the plate to check how cold it is, it should feel very cold. A typical fridge draws 4-6 amps. Good luck!

  • @furface9779
    @furface9779 3 роки тому +1

    there are many causes to campsite electricity being bad, the further away from the main building the lower the voltage, combine that with the number of users the voltage goes lower, combine that with your under sized or too long extension cord causing lower voltage. end result is 240 volt drops and amperage drops causing every thing to be inefficient. It's something campers don't understand

    Your fridge will be down to the heat affecting performance, the best solution would be to fit fans on the outside behind the vents, usually at the top to draw out the warm air. Look at Titan fans, though Dometic and Thetford do their own, cost about £60.

    Hey guys hope you're both well,just watched latest video, personally my opion is that you're using van like it's a weekend van and not permanent home,you'll be amazed at how much power you'll use on even the smallest things,so to make the most out of the systems and power you have you'll have to prioritize what you use,for example the actifry and oven will absolutely drain power ,as will the air con unit even though it is low voltage.try watching some sailing channels to see how they manage to be at sea for 20-40 days crossing oceans managing,things like water use,power use and such.remember most motor homes are designed to be used for maybe no more than a couple of weeks at most without being able to plug in at campsites and the likes. but still have to be keeping eye on all power uses and water volume.

    Hi Dan and Mazzy, I think from my experience this hot weather is playing havoc with fridges/freezers.

    No it's all down to the outside temperature. You need to fit a pr of fans behind the top vent to extract the hot air from the top of the fridge freezer.
    Your fridge freezer is having to work harder to keep cool, which is creating a lot more heat.

    On your fridge check the temp control you may have turned it up to hot, I had a fridge that if you weren’t careful if you push some items like a carton of milk to the back it would sometimes bump the control and make the fridge warmer!

  • @NicksKnives.
    @NicksKnives. 3 роки тому +1

    12:20 The heat will be effecting your fridge/freezer massively. It'll take a lot longer for it to get to the temperature it should be at because it has to work so much harder to stay cool in this heat but at the same time it can't run it's compressor or other devices too much or they can overheat and be damaged. It's an obvious piece of advice but I would suggest that you try to really really limit the amount of time the fridge is open for.

  • @daviddavies3810
    @daviddavies3810 3 роки тому

    Your fridge problem is more than likely outside temperature, I had same problem in South of France, you need to fit fans in the top vent, 5 inch 12v computer fans work great, you can get two inside the vent or there is a kit available but the fans are smaller 👍

    Bracelands is one of my favourites. In the Winter when it’s quiet, the deer all come out of the woods and come RIGHT up to the hard standings at the top. Love it. It’s my default winter site when I don’t know where else to go. ❤️❤️❤️ It’s a long but beautiful walk all the way down to the the river Wye, and along to Symonds Yat. Great when the pub is open as a reward, 😁 but all the forest walks around the campsite are beautiful. 😍My favourite is out of the gate at the top of the campsite…and it’s mostly flat! 😂
    I’m so happy you are going back to travelling again. I’ve really enjoyed your pandemic videos, don’t get me wrong, but your travel vlogs inspire me and give me ideas for my future plans. I’ve been stuck on a campsite since lockdown 1, apart from occasional weekends, so I’m also craving the open road again now. I understand EXACTLY how you are feeling. Good luck guys

    Great video lovely woods but too hot for walking about. My fridge runs a lot more in this hot weather for it to stay cool and it's been really hot the last few days. @adrianpipe3323 3 роки тому

    So glad the old trolls ways are coming back, I must admit to getting a little bit on the bored side of reviews of charging boxes and campsite tenting. I like the existing intro, its perfectly short and succinct, gives instantly recognisable identity and shows a stunning part of the world and doesn't portray a feeling of motion sickness as the new one does with all the wiggling around. It would be better as an Outtro maybe given the length of it?! My guess on the fridge would be that its just the hotter run of weather, I guess they work much like an air conditioning unit, so hotter weather means more work for it and less efficiency.

    24:17 Audio started, but quickly dropped out. No audio through the end of the video. Hope you can get your refrigerator sorted. Sometimes they can take a bit to get down to cool temp when running on gas or 12V, but when on campsite hook-up shouldn't be too bad. Time to break out the manuals for it, also check on the breakers and fuses.

    I love your channel and what every video. One thing I have been wondering many times: Do you know what is the total weight of your camper(including all your gear and your self)?

    Gutted with the new intro, is it men't to be silent? Not sure about anyone else? Makes me feel really dizzy, also looks really staged. Me not meaning to be harsh, rude or nasty.
