Yes but where does that money go to? My understanding (happy to be corrected) is that the funding goes straight to American defense suppliers. Ukraine spends the money allocated to them directly on American-manufactured weaponry. If not all of the money, then at least a very large proportion of it.

Because they are prevented (by limiting agreement) from attacking Russian soil with much of the weaponry they have been given. The area they are advancing from is Russian so it's difficult to prevent troop, artillery and vehicle build up and subsequent incursion. the delay of the last months hasn't helped either and they've lost more lives than they need to. However the figures are quite clear, as the Russian tactics are very dismissive of their own casualties both vehicular and in terms of manpower. There's plenty of data out there if you're interested.

How the United States is going to recover all the money invested in Ukraine when Russia ends up taking control of all that territory?
Wouldn't it be better to invest all that money in lowering inflation, improving retirement funds, combating fentanyl trafficking and controlling the southern border?
US has spent around 300B so far in Ukraine mostly for military aid, while EU has spent around 200B mostly for civil aid (to cover electricity, food, water, etc.)
Ukraine is like a patient being held on life support at any costs ( HALF A TRILLION of NATO money in just 2 years) while more and more EU citizens can't afford children, and US cities are full of homeless, this is absolute madness!
Russia wont take control of ALL Ukraine, it would be an insane scenario that costs too much. Russia will take direct control of Donbass and other borders area but the main bulk of the country must have a pro russian governament.
Its not so different from Europe that is indirectly controlled by US (the main difference is that US puts dozens of bases full of nukes).
US will recover nothing. Russia will take control and rebuild Ukraine which US just purchased for them.

I said it would be too expensive, both in terms of men and money. Ukraine is a huge country full of people who hate them, there's no reason to control it all directly with troops. Russia just need to neutralize their military force, put a puppet government and secure Crimea and Donbass as recognized regions in the UN. This will prevent Ukraine entry in NATO and future rebellions.

Although I am neither a conspiracy theorist nor a pacifist nor a warmonger, with that being said, I believe everyone has the right to defend themselves but this appears to be one of the largest money laundering schemes in history. In light of the incredible amount of money spent since the beginning of the war, the progress in the Ukrainian war should have resulted in better outcomes much earlier. I find this to be utterly shameful. How could the intelligence agencies have failed to anticipate this? Was Ukraine told but chose to ignore the warnings or was it not communicated or was it just a huge failure of the intelligence agencies? Who knows? I’m sure there will be things revealed in 20-30 years after all this has settled down and forgotten.
Another thing I’d like to mention is the fact that it was Kharkiv rather than another major direct attack on Kiev surprised me. It is time for new leadership with term limits, instead of these old dinosaurs who have a job for life and make a fortune by retirement. We need a huge change in US politics instead of just a two party system. This has gotten out of hand!
