  • Iceland's Golden Circle is a well known easy way to see so much of what this beautiful country has to offer all within a short drive from Reykjavik.
    We started off the morning at Thingvellir National Park taking in the geological features while walking between the fault at the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian continental plates. Where else can you touch two continents at once?!
    From there we stopped for a lovely lunch in the wonderful warmth of the tomato green houses of Fridheimar farm where we had their very fresh tomato soup and even some tomato beer! After lunch we left the warmth behind to get creamy fresh ice cream from a local dairy farm at Efstidalur II.
    Once our stomachs were full we continued on to the Geysir Geothermal area. While the original namesake Geysir is dormant we saw the blast (and got a bit wet) from Strokkur which erupted several times while we were there. Wandering the steamy paths through the boiling pools was quite an otherworldly experience!
    From there we drove just a few minutes down the road to the immense Gulfoss waterfall. The power, thundering noise, and shear volume of water was simply breathtaking!
    To finish the day we took an hour long hike up to the Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River. This was so unique to swim in the hot river in the brisk cold windy air! It was a lovely way to spend the evening but getting back out into the bitter cold is not something to look forward to!

      Haha glad we could set the bar so high for life goals. We definitely were trying to find foods that were more of snacks but we settled on that as our best option.

    Love that you ate a sando in the thematic springs. I am a fellow creator and we are planning a trip there next march. We are going to do all the things on the ring road.

    What time of year did you visit? im going the beginning of October and wondering about daylight hours, mainly the drive from Hofn to the Golden Circle

      We went late May/early June. We did go to Stockholm in October 2019 and as I recall it got dark around 5-6pm or so (I can’t remember sunrise). I’m guessing it wouldn’t be too different than that. Have fun, it’s a beautiful country!

      in october the daylight drops from 8-9 to 5-6 in 30 days. driving from hofn to the golden circle must require a stop. october might have difficoult driving conditions. please, consider to split in two.

      @@AndersonsArrive hey, super random question, but did you see any northern lights while you were there.... I am goig to Iceland at the end of April, but I am honestly not expecting much in regard to seeing northern lights

    • @AndersonsArrive
      @AndersonsArrive  Рік тому +1

      No, but it was late May when we went so it was sunny most of the day/night. It was still light around 10pm so it never would get dark enough.
