I think the song is meant as a literal „ echo“ like the echos that feelings give us … that was my impression. I like emotions and thought going through us . If you see it that way, it’s quite „ spiritual“ I like it a lot . Top 15 for me

    • @in_wino_veritas
      @in_wino_veritas Рік тому +1

Yes, it also kinda reminds me of their 2021 entry (although it at least somewhat made sense), I appreciate that those artists are writing their songs themselves, but they should either check with native speakers, if their lyrics are correct or just hire one as your co-writer, who can tell you exactly how to put your thoughts into English words in the first place, instead of just correcting the lyrics afterwards. At least in an international competition, it's not as bad, if you're just releasing it in your home country.
The Armenian song is at least telling us a story, but again, it's a song written by a non-native speaker without any advice from someone who's speaking English as their first language, I guess. But just out of curiosity (as someone who's not a native speaker) it should be nearby cafés or at your local cafés, right? Or how do I say this correctly?

The chumbararata word sounds more Indian to me though. Which is something they use to refer to the sound of the drums. It could mean the same thing in this song too.

It's definitely giving Georgia at Junior Eurovision, which makes sense since the songwriter, Giga, has written basically every Georgia JESC entry. I think this is very similar to Georgia's JESC 2022 (Mariam Bigvava - "I Believe") act with the English lyrics not making a ton of sense, but it still being loved by the fandom, which also makes sense since Iru and Giga wrote the entry. This could definitely do well and stand out against some of the other not-as-vocally-challenging acts in the final, and I could see it coming top 3 with the juries.

Maybe the text is repeated because the echo has this meaning. These sentences are echoes of Iru's thoughts. And we all know what an echo is, a sound that repeats and repeats. So now for me this is more clear. My sister gives me that definition of this song and I think it is the correct explanation.

Pace is interesting but I wish it had been utilised a little bit better. Georgia already improved so much that I am lowkey proud. However , they could do better easily with lyrics. This one is giving me shadow theatre and smoke vibes with some artsy story.

Maybe it's just me being overthinking and related it to what Georgian people are doing right now against to their government.
However, I feel that the lyrics of this song are an expression of the fact that we have left the dark ages of the past.
And that, since we now have a freer, more democratic and better life. 'My love is not a fake' because I don't need to fake it.
'It's not a secret' Everyone knows that because I know that we have moved on to a better life (the value of freedom). So why do we go back AGAIN?
And 'I've got a big faith' that we will not stop here.
    ------
There was also a reaction to the Czech song from a Brit who said she didn't understand the meaning of the lyrics at all, which really made me giggle.
"No one wants more boys to die."
Don't get it? Or are these yotubers just pretending not to understand?

But it would have been great, if she had written it together with a native speaker (or at least let them check, if her grammar is correct, etc), those lyrics do absolutely make no sense and sometimes some words she's using don't even make any sense either. - 14 songs I don’t care about at all. (Places 37-24)
    - 6 songs I won’t skip, but I would be bored. (Places 23-18)
    - 6 songs has a staging potential but less exciting with only listening to. (17-11)
    - Top 10, summs up what I usually listen to, and to what I’ve been told as trash-pop consumer (I don’t hate that, because its kind of true! LOL)
    10. Belgium 🇧🇪, shocking IKR! I trash talked the song when it came out but given how the year came to, this solidly a better song and performance than many songs we have.
    9. Denmark 🇩🇰 , this is first time in 7 years Denmark in my top 10.
    8. Ukraine 🇺🇦, it’s sad that people discredit this song because they fear another massive sympathy voting “which might happen”, but regardless this held my number 1 for months, till the new sons kept rolling out.
    7. Israel 🇮🇱, I might be biased because I’m an Israeli-Arab, but I have high hopes for Noa, she will do us proud in May.
    6. Greece 🇬🇷, another underrated song, I was hooked from the first listen.
    5. Norway 🇳🇴, believe it or not the norsk MGP this year was dreadful songwise but this one had the potential to win it, and I’m glad it did.
    4. Sweden 🇸🇪, although having Loreen as 4th but its what I’m rooting for to win, the song is a complete package and accept it she’s a contender going for that trophy.
    3. Iceland 🇮🇸, one of the few songs from the national finals that I desperately needed to win because till that point no favourite of mine actually won and i was at my breaking point from being done with NFs for good. And she made it.
    2. Switzerland 🇨🇭, I wont be exaggerating when I tell you that I had it on repeat when it came out, same as Greece’s another underrated song.
    1. United Kingdom 🇬🇧, this is living for the hype of last year (Sam was my 22nd last year) so I had no high expectations but I was wrong, this is definitely one of the best songs the UK ever sent to eurovision [I’m not over Embers zero points tho].

You're making excuses for people not knowing how to write in English. Could you imagine if the UK sent a nonsense song completely in Spanish or French or any other language? This song would be offensive to people if it was as poorly written in any other language other than English. The lyrics don't represent chaos. It's just bad writing. Ukraine won in 2016 and 2022 with songs in Ukranian. Italy won in 2021 with a song in Italian. Portugal in 2017 with a song in Portugese. The need to send songs in English isn't there anymore.

The lyrics make no sense - I am not sure that in and of itself makes it poetry. They’re just bad.
It’s a performance piece though and it will do well if they can pull those visuals off.
But as a song… it’s really not catchy, the chorus is hardly there (drowning in instrumentation) - I find it without a lot to grab on to. I just don’t hear it. Sorry.

I like it. Don’t love it. It gets very repetitive and begins to sound a bit gibberish. Really don’t think winner potential is there. But DEFINITE qualifier.

Girl... I love you and have been following you since 2017 and have been watching all of your videos since, but honestly I don't get your critiques lately. It seems like you have a preconceived notion of some songs/countries and overrate really mediocre songs. Those lyrics are unacceptable and there's nothing poetic about them. Calling Romania's vocal amazing... I mean... I appreciate you being positive tho. And it's ok to agree to disagree. But I don't know what happened. I used to hold your opinion and critique to such high regard.
still love you tho and always enjoy watching you ❤

If I can't understand what she's saying then lyrics might as well be in native language. Sonicly, let's be honest: it's yelly. Televote will doubtfully come through. Probably not qualifying. Visually the video is slick though, expensive. Nice styling, but that's about it.

The composer did a terrific job
whilst the lyricist was left back home in Georgia. WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS THAT MUMBO JUMBO CRAP?!

OK the lyrics are a bunch of nothing.
It feels as if they spent all their budget on the video and the music and left like 3 cents for the writters.

No, the country has nothing to do here. The issue is that the lyrics don't make sense. Even I, a non-native english speaker, was put off halfway through the song because the lyrics felt weird to me. And my thoughts would be the same if this same song were sent by any other country
