In todays video my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis gets an upgrade on its restrictive restrictive single factory exhaust. I change out my oem mercury single factory exhaust system to oem factory dual exhaust form an older mercury grand marquis (I believe an 02 or 03). I also had the shop remove or delete the 2 rear catalytic converters for better flow and sound. I Love it. the car feels like it woke up, it feels lighter on its feet, and has a nicer sound and not loud rumble to it. You can perform the same upgrade on the Ford Crown Victoria, and I'm pretty sure on the Lincoln Town Car. . You can achieve this DIY project with some simple tools and parts, I believe in you! Learn the process and save a ton of money. We tackle this with the help of my daughter. She loves to be in my videos and loves to help any time I work on the car.

Fantastic vid. I just bought a 2011 Grand Marquis with 76k miles and this definitely looks worthwhile as I want to keep mine quiet. I don't know anyone who would help me with the catalyst delete so I would need to figure something out for that route. These are fantastic cars and definite keepers.
Congrats on the new Merc. Mine had 77k when i got it. If I knew how to weld I would have done the work myself. But from the factory a single exhaust is 224 hp, with the factory dual exhaust option it’s 239 hp a 25 horsepower increase. So I figured $40 bucks on Facebook market place was well spent for factory upgrade. And the car delete I do t think hurt anything as more flow for a v8 is good…definitely keepers
Sounds good and your daughter is adorable
Thanks! 👍🏼
I didn’t think there’d be such a big difference between stock mufflers and a rear car delete! Sounds good! If you’re thinking high flow but still quiet, Borla pro XS or the Magnaflows are theoretically the highest flowing due to being straight thru mufflers but still remain tame with the sound. I’d recommend going with the 24 inch case or the 18 inch case as the 14s are very noticeable on the outside although very little drone on the inside. Borla is generally a little quieter than Magnaflow.
Thanks for stopping by! I also wasn’t aware that such a change can be so good and beneficial! Thanks for the advice on the muffler setup, I’ll look into it 👍🏼
I used to own a 2003 grand marquis I put dual exhaust whit an x pipe and dual flowmasters super 44 they sound awesome, and later I own a 2001 mustang gt whit the 4.6 L the same setup whit flowmasters outlaws that was even better
Great job on the due over. Just bought a 2006 grand marquee. Single exhaust, thanks for sharing.🎉
Thanks for stopping by! Congrats on the new purchase! 🙌🏼
It was best to have them do it regardless of price. They had the lift and tools, you would of bin cursing for hours doing it yourself. Like the upgrade and sound. Brand new OEM stainless steel dual exhaust ain't cheap. This was a win win for you.
I totally agree with you, not sure why I thought I can do it but at this point of my life, I’m ready to try out anything and if it works that’s awesome and if it doesn’t then get help. But definitely better for them to do it then dragging it out to a couple of days project and asking my brother-in-law for his welding machine in and then asking him to weld it!
Nice video! Those tailpipes have the resonators in them, so it quiets things down a little more. Would be interesting to see what it looks like underneath. I used the Xlerator mufflers when we did the exhaust on mine, sounds almost like yours does now. I bought a set of AP chambered mufflers to change them out for little more growl. Always looking forward to your next video! Thanks
Thanks for your time, I am planing to to get some aftermarket mufflers to add to the stock pipes. I like the quiet and low sounding exhaust but with more flow. I like how @ua-cam.com/users/OldeCarrGuy did his first setup on the grandma-rquis. We’ll see where this all goes and what will come next!
Just got the adaptors and bends for my grand marquise so I can straight pipe it I’m so excited
Oh nice! Was yours a single exhaust factory or double?
@@LoveWhatYouDrive single sadly
Ahhh….I had the same problem
Very nice Art.
Thanks Chuck!
Got a 05 grand marquis with duals and cheap flowmasters 😅
I bet it sounds good right? Flowmasters sound pretty good in my opinion
The OEM exhaust last longer than aftermarket. I did replaced to dual exhaust with Waker brand for more power. Has alredy replaced one muffler. I like to keep it quiet with resonators. I live in Norway NO.
Really bugs me they didn’t get the tail pipes even. Sounds great tho!
Ye I’ll get it fixed, it’s a lil annoying!
I couldn't give a customer's car back with those crooked-ass pipes on there.
Quality work is getting VERY hard to find !!
True that! Not sure what happened there…
Hope all the debris and acorns came out lol, looks like the right side could come up a little more imo. Did you feel the +15hp difference?
Thanks for stopping by, I hope all the acorns and things came out 😂 The right side is a little saggy not sure what problem they ran into but I’ll have it fixed when I put in some quiet high flow mufflers, it does feel better smoother and quicker I wouldn’t say it’s crazy noticeable but I definitely feel quicker pick up and speed in acceleration.
@@LoveWhatYouDrive I have a 07 LS with only single exhaust, I'm bout to go h pipe and dynomax race bullets.
Drop a video for us to see! I love hearing and seeing different exhaust setups on panthers!
Nice but the guy who bent the rear pipes needs to looke behind the car before he welds it in place sounds awesome though
Thanks for stopping by! Definitely should’ve been a lil more on top of it…nonetheless, one day I’m hoping to upgrade the exhaust…it’s been doing well so far
gotta love the kids man. i bought a 2000 ford crown victoria police interceptor with the rear cats stolen. about 105k miles. i know it will breath better but that dam check engine light is on. i want to just replace the stock mufflers with some upgraded ones and be done with it but im not sure if it will run like it should with only two of the four cats. any advice?
Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate the support. So the two rear cats don’t have O2 sensors coming up to them even if they were stolen that shouldn’t be the check engine light. The two front is where the O2 sensors run up to. I never had any issues after removing the cats, maybe you need to change your O2 sensors, anything beyond the O2 sensors and the two cats should not affect the check engine, light or the drivability of the vehicle, if anything it should just improve some of the flow and whatever you decide to do with sound, which ever muffler you want to put on, I just stuck with the OEM Because my family comes with me, my kids and my wife and I like it to be quiet. Good luck
Gotta take the factory mufflers off the dual and put a couple of magnaflows
I feel like it’s going to be too loud and droney…maybe some quiet high flow mufflers in the future
Whit magnas or better yet Flowmaster is gonna be a deep sound..not loud...that's what I got in mine I got the flows...but either will give you a deep sound....don't go glass pack...is loud and sound like crap...like a whole bunch of firecrackers...not a cool sound make the car sound cheap....
Thanks for the info, I will look into it!
I like sound. I would like to buy Oem dual exhaust for 49$,😀Is it more loud and powerfull?
It is louder, when I step on the gas, but when I’m cruising and just enjoying scenery it’s quiet and humble, definitely feel more powerful and feels like smoother acceleration.
Did you put resonators on? Would putting resonators on make it more quiet?
The resonators are towards the car end of the exhaust. I didn’t remove them or put them on they came stock. But I am curious to see how much more sound they will add if I remove them and run a straight pipe out!
@@LoveWhatYouDrive it would be louder without the Resonators?
I believe so! Maybe someone can chime in if they experienced it first hand
Those at the rear are resonators. They quiet it down. Get rid of those and it will be barely louder but some.
That’s interesting you say this today, I looked under my car this morning and was like “I wonder what would happen if I got rid of those” I think I will try it out…thanks 👍🏼 perfect timing
No worries. They are just another set os mufflers. It doesn't make it way louder. Not like putting Flowmasters or something similar. But it Def gives you a little more tone. I'm glad my 03 Police Interceptor doesn't have them. Life is funny sometimes isn't it? Lol.
@@GrandPitoVic ye it is funny how it all just works out! But I appreciate it, I like a small sound without having a crazy loud drone and flow master sound, after all it’s still my cruiser, I don’t do burnouts on it or drift it, and I don’t race it!
Me either, she is my baby. I always said I would own one once I saw the first interceptor in 1998 with the blacked out chrome. I bought mine from the Miami Police Auction. Feb 16' and I paid $675 with 91k miles on her. She now has 170k. I'm working on doing a engine swap to a 4.6l 3 valve. A little more power and the 2 valve computer will run the engine as long as you lock out the cam phasers. I just replaced the whole interior to black from a junkyard Vic. Someone had the seats redone and new carpet put in and I guess the tranny or engine went and the junked it. They wanted $800 to recover my front 2 seats. I got the whole interior including door panels and trim pieces all for $350. She looks new on the inside now. I really don't like mine loud either. I don't like drone from aftermarket mufflers.
Oh man you are getting some steak deals! Where is the 4.6 3v out of? And you are doing all this work yourself? I wouldn’t mind a clean black interior on my mercury, but I kind a like the white leather. I think light colors are kind of classy. But in the future, we will see I got my mercury for free from a good friend. We all need good friends like that.
so you got rid of the cats ?
are you ok with the sound of it on the highway? thanks
I still have the other 2 cats and stock mufflers so no drone no loud noise just a tiny bit more sound when I step on it…
sounds good i may do this to my town car thanks@@LoveWhatYouDrive
any mpg change? what is your mpg? thanks@@LoveWhatYouDrive
@@summerforever6736 no mpg change that is noticeable from my side. Definitely feels as if the car can breath easier and has better pickup
@@summerforever6736 you’re welcome
🔥🔥🔥
any chance u can make a how to vid on replaceing bumper chrome trim 😅?
Hey thanks for stopping by! It is in my plan to do so when I fix the huge crack, hopefully in near future! But, guy told me you can get chrome trim at auto zone that’s one inch wide and it’s pretty easy to switch out! But I like the idea and maybe sooner than later I’ll do it!
I replaced the stuff on the bumpers of my 07 Marquis, it was pretty easy, the old stuff is held on with adhesive just pry the trim off with a trim removal tool, and the new trim sticks on. There are holes at the end of the "indentation" in the bumper where the trim goes, and the trim sorta tucks into the holes, you'll notice it if you look at the trim on the car. This is useful because it means you don't have to trim the new stuff perfectly straight or to the exact right length, close enough and you should be good.
@@melvinharris7859 yes true, it’s pretty easy to change, I’m just waiting til I attack the whole bumper, and the big thing is to get old glue and adhesive off as much as you can so new stuff has good clean surface to stick on! Thanks for tips!
What year is the best Mercury grand marquis?
2008
How much was the installation fee?
If I remember correct it was around $420…it was like 300 to remove the old one and put the new one on, but charged me another 120 to remove the rear cats…I think something around there…
My friend, in short, what do I need to do in order to do the same as you, installing 2 ounces. I am talking to you using google translator, I hope for a reply
Hi 👋 you can get oem or factory dual exhaust from another panther platform or go aftermarket and get a nice setup with sound you want and size and finish! Good luck!
Im curious, how much was it to get it tuned for the dual exhaust system? Did they even need to do that?
Hey thanks for coming by, we did not get a tune after the install. I don’t think there was that much of a increase or change for a tune.
i have 2006 grand marques i did dual exaust with 3.5 inch pipes and flow masters . resonator delete , cold air and mine is flex fuel so i run E85 . sounds nice !!
I bet it sounds good and has good pickup when smashing on the throttle…thanks for sharing
how is mpg after all that?
have you had a spark plugs blown out ?
Have you change them yet?
Spark plugs had not been blown, I did change the plugs when I got the car. Original plugs were really gapped wrong and after getting OEM FORD plugs I gapped them the right way the car was really working well and idling smooth..made a big difference.
great i am going too do the same waiting on the plugs did you torque it to a specific number?@@LoveWhatYouDrive
@@summerforever6736 for the plugs I did not torque it to a specific spec. Just tight and snug
I'm looking for an H-Pipe for my 89 Town Car. Are all the H-pipes compatible because of the panther platform?
hi thanks for stopping by! I left your comment in the community tab of my channel. you can see what people are posting in regard to your question!
What was the price to get this done?
The exhaust I paid $40 and the install they charged me $350. It was extra to cut off the rear cats…
How is that going to pass NJ inspection?
Thanks for stopping by, besides taking off the rear cats, the exhaust and mufflers are oem. I have the cats if there’s ever an issue!
I believe NJ state inspection checks for catS.
Thanks for watching! I still have a set of cats on there. The smaller second ones are off though.
What’s the diameter of those exhaust?
Thanks for watching! It is 2 inch stock pipe! I kept it OEM because the steel that they use is very good and sturdy. I heard it from other guys they bought aftermarket exhaust systems through rock auto and other manufacturers and it would rust and rot really quick. Future plan is to get some high flow mufflers to get it a little bit better sounding .
How much is it
I paid $40 for the full exhaust and $360 for install and to remove the rear 2 cats
Got to get t

How can I add a pic
