Porter and Dolly's timing is like no one else's. They are the finest Country Duet ever! They are both great as single artists, but together they really are "The Right Combination."
Love Country duets. Doesnt get any better than..Dolly & Porter, George & Tammy, Conway & Loretta, Jim Ed & Helen, Kenny & Dottie, Johnny & June. Today's so called Country Music dont know how to sing or do duets.
They look like they're having more fun here than their later duets, because in these earlier duets Dolly had just started, and in the later duets Dolly wasn't very happy because Porter wasn't letting Dolly go and start her solo career.
Lovely, great seeing it. Of course George and Tammy do a wonderful verions. But this isn't about comparing whose is better. Both versions are excellent and our opinions are all just subjective. I just enjoy this rendition a lot because it makes me smile, the spontaneity is marvellous. Although on TV, a lot of improvising was going on and mistakes kept in. That's why I love it. Seeing two people of their talent make it work makes it all worth while.
Thank you for posting! They did a great version of the song. When music was real. 👍 there can be some good country music out there today but it’s rare.
This wasn't the only time Porter sang this song. He also recorded it with his last duet partner& grand ole opry singer the Great Penny DeHaven. Love this song , Donald Ewert, Milwaukee🌇Wisconsin😊
It's completely different harmony than George and Tammy. G/T do it as male lead, female tenor above the male lead; Porter and Dolly did this and almost all their duets as female lead, male high baritone (or alto), under the female lead. So here Dolly is singing lead, in the other version George is singing lead. In both cases the stronger voice takes the lead.
George and Tammy (who were also great) also did this song, but IMO, Porter and Dolly nailed it...the two women at the end during the closing credits in the lime green minidresses, is that June and Anita Carter?
I can't get enough of Dolly Parton. I think that guy's being a jerk that singing I am give her a chance to sing and I seen this video when I was growing up and he's being naked and I don't understand I love her singer 🌹🌹🌹🌹🎼🎵🎶🌟🌟🌟🌟🎤🎸🙏🥰🤠💖💖💖💖💖
With all due respect, Dolly deserved a better duo partner. Tammy had George and Loretta had Ernest and Conway. She had a second rate musical talent. Sadly she should have recorded with Merle Haggard who had a host of second rate female talents (sorry Bonnie Owens). Merle and Dolly would have been of the highest country caliber, no doubt.

WOW SO MUCH BETTER THEN THE MUSIC THE KIDS HAVE THESE DAYS. WISH WE COULD GO BACK. GOD BLESS
She is so precious, natural and beautiful. I am so glad the video is around to enjoy.
And that my friends is what country music once was...
Made you feel good watching and listening, didn't it?
They sure looked like they were having a good time.
Real country...
Because they had lived it...
As my grandma used to say...
"Bet both of them would know which end of the mule to hitch up the plow..."
And Miss Parton recorded her own version of Jimmy Rodger's 'Mule Skinner Blues' in 1970!
You can tell they really enjoyed singing together. You can't fake that!!!
Yep, cain't fool nobody not never nohow.
I will always love you, by willfully abandoning you.
Watching Dolly and Porter together kinda makes you feel good inside... ❤
I love them all those duets by Porter Wayne Wagoner and Dolly Rebecca Parton.
Every time I watch this I get the biggest grin on my face. Great vid! Thanks for the upload
Me too!
I saw this show in Fredericksburg VA and I knew she would be a star.

what's not to love about Dolly.
They have chemistry!
Porter porter porter porter
She had a Tammy Wynette Hairstyle here
Bass players can never just do as they’re told
why is her hair the wrong color?
Anyone know the year of this particular show?
The song was recorded in 1969 so I think that's when the show was made!
@@wardarcade7452 thank you🙌
And you can get a free towel from box’s of breeze!
LOL
Ahhh, when everything was still white bc if it's white, it's right. 👍🏼
