I have the barrel all completed, my issue is when I have the textures in Maya, I'm a little confused as to what map goes where(diffuse, color base etc.) when you are given the chance to select them from files on your computer. If you could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanking you in advance, Michael
This is an excellent beginner tutorial for both Maya and Substance Painter, and it's such a widely used game prop that every modeler should have a few really good ones in their portfolio.
I really enjoy your Tutorials This is my first tutorials of yours, watched today and glad you explain well Plz keep upload more tutorial video like this And cover low and high poly model with UV ,uv wrapping ,uv mapping and texturing and how to make your own materials, Light, scene, interiror and exterior everything that's make model look more organic But thank you for this beautiful tutorials Assalamu alaikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuhu💐 That's mean may Allah s.a.w peace be upon you 💐 Peace 💐
Great tutorial and everything turned out like yours in Substance. I do have a question though... When you import the textures into Maya, do you apply them to the low poly or high poly model?
Great Tutorial like always. Did you noticed that at the top of the barrel where the cap touches it there is a strange shadow? Would it be a problem in the normal map baking or something else?
You may have to adjust the baking distance, or you can also have those two pieces separate and bake by names; look up how to bake by naming in Substance painter.
Man! just awesome, thanks for sharing, this was beautiful. Question, Pixar models their models using Sub D modeling technique. They seem to start with a simple low poly base in subd then finesse the model. Are you aware of this style? would you be able to demonstrate or model a simple model explaining? Thanks.
@@3dextrude Thanks for an answer. Doesnt work, must be i did something wrong in a process what is blocking it now. Will finish without Alphas, and will make new project from begining. Thanks!

1:52 an easier way you could have made that low poly is to go to AttributeEditor>polyCylinder2 and then lower the subdivision axis
Thank you soo muchh ,it helped for my assignment ❤️
Glad it helped!
2:35 Everytime I click combine and go to the UV Editor just like you mine won't appear. Do you know any reason why that's so?

How it's look like in Maya 😊
Great video, please do more stuff like this!

Later should I apply the trxtures on Low poly ?
Once you are done textures, yes you can export the textures and apply to the low poly

Thanks, yeah I am aware of this style of modeling. I might in the future, but can't promise anything.
Thanks and thanks for responding.
When I double click in edge mode, the edges don't delete like in this tutorial. Any idea why?
press ctrl + backspace to delete an edge loop.
Thank you so much!!!!!!
Very good :)
Thank you!
how do i select the individual shapes in UV mode? when i open edge mode i cant just select that rectangle shape. the whole thing gets selected
go into uv mode and double click a shell to select it.
3dEx thats what ive been doing
The background music reminds me of a man eating a bunch of lemons stuffed with Warhead candies and doing the robot while screaming in agony.
Very nice.!!! man, now we need export to maya and setup to Arnold render :D
Thank you!
16:21 I dont have that function. how do I get that?
for masking? It should be there, what version are you using?
Does Substance painter need UV cut in maya?
You need Uvs in order to texture in Substance Painter, you can make your uvs in Maya or any other software that lets you do UVs.
I cant use any Alphas ( I am your patreon). Any advice please? Google doesnt help. Thx
Make sure you have the mask of your layer selected for it to work.

@@3dextrude OK i did it :) , thanks for help.
thank you
why dont import the high res mesh in the first place?
in Substance Painter? Because I wanted it to be low poly so I just used that and baked the details from the high res mesh unto the low res one.
thx boss :) but for rendering is high better no question
If you want it to look high poly when rendering, yes. Cheers.
Thats the way that we want you to do the tutorial slow and with a good explication not speed modeling please I get RED when you do speed modeling 😆😆
So many guys everywhere.

Thank you!
