    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Sincere (Nas) advises Shorty (Eric Keith McNeil), a 12-year-old kid older than his years, to get out of the game and change the course of his life.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Music video director Hype Williams made his feature film debut with this visually inventive urban drama. Tommy Brown (DMX) and his friend Sincere (Nas) are gangsters who have learned how to make a good living by dealing drugs and pulling armed robberies. Tommy and Sincere have been able to move out of the ghetto in Queens where they were raised and relocate to an upscale section of Manhattan; they would seem to have it made, but both realize that their lives are headed toward a dead end. Sincere begins getting in touch with his African roots and tries to convince his girlfriend Tionne (Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins) that they should emigrate to the Motherland, while Tommy has a religious awakening and joins the Nation of Islam. Along with top-selling rappers DMX and Nas, hip-hop artist Method Man and R&B singer Taral Hicks also appear.

Yeadatt1 I'm serious. This was back in 2000 in a place called Allen Residential Center. It was almost 2 years after the movie was released. We had a family day once and our family was able to visit, my mom came to see me and his grandfather visited him. Though we were in there for being bad kids his grandfather was so proud that he was in movies. His grandfather pointed out that he was to be in another hood movie called Black N White.
It was obvious that this kid was from a poor family like me but I remember thinking how lucky he was to be making movies with my favorite rappers at the time, so why was he in juvie with us?
Eventually I was released in April of that year. I didn't hear anything about him until a couple years later when I was yet again in trouble, on Rikers Island this time. By then he made a reputation for himself in Queens for being a thug/gunslinger/ ghetto celebrity and news was buzzing that he was locked up on the island. we saw each other briefly in the corridors and never again. The next time I heard about him, I was told that he had been killed.

By the time this movie came out in 98, as a teen growing up listening to Nas records, this was just a visual of what he was talking about in his songs. So nothing really surprised me, I felt like Nas was the moral compass of the craziness at the time. He was that wise prophet that was teaching me what to do and what not to do growing up in the hood. Other than my father, I feel like Nas is one of the reasons why I am still alive and who I am today.

I always felt like Nas in this scene, trying to tell them to rise above this s*** selling rock ain't worth a pair of Nikes. I grew up with 40+ guys in the BRONX projects, *ONLY THREE OF US MADE IT OUT ALIVE* and are doing well. Everyone else is *DEAD, IN PRISON, HOOKED ON DRUGS, or gone COMPLETELY INSANE*.

Man, I grew up in the roughest part of my country, but thankfully no guns, just beat downs, knives, bricks and the occasional murder. To me, that was a rough way of life. Then in my later years, when I traveled through the Rio favelas, I saw what extreme violence and frustration is. 24/7 helicopters and automatic rifles ringing out through the night. Opened my eyes to a whole other level of suffering that humans experience.
Would never wish that shit on anyone.

but on the other hand Nas nice was more laid-back very observant and intelligent he came across in his raps he always seem so kool to me! Very lyrical mixed with wisdom in it! I’m Dominican 🇩🇴 and was happy to see him do a video in Washington heights

Eric McNeil (the actor above) IS STILL ALIVE. He was released from prison last year. I saw him riding a bike near 143/Farmers. My old man(retired)would see him all the time in the housing area. I saw him in CB before his last stint. Trust.
That man who was in the shootout with cops was 2015; Trenton, NJ.

He's telling him to not resort to violence when he says "a lot of these dudes aren't even worth it" then gives him a necklace that's gonna provoke people into trying to snatch it and the end result is this dude using the gun he showed earlier.
Nas's character is a snake he talks nice to get you to drop your guard then sets you up to either be killed or go to jail for the rest of your life.
