  • Loop yarn is a fun new yarn that has unique preformed loops built into the yarn. With loop yarn, you can knit without needles and using only your fingers. This tutorial shows how to make the criss-cross stitch using loop yarn. The criss-cross stitch in knitting is an advanced stitch. We recommend learning the basic loop yarn stitches, Garter Stitch and Stocking Stitch before attempting this stitch.

      Hi Susan! I am not sure how many stitches you would need as toddler sized blankets can vary in size. I would suggest stitching two or three rows to test out the sizing. It's easy to take out, so if you think it's too big or too small, you can take it out and try again.

      @@Needlepointers So binding off is the same for every type of stitch? I'm making a criss-cross pillow right now and though I can pretty much follow what you're doing, I'm still confused about the end of rows, when to leave the last one unworked, etc. I started this afternoon, but stopped after a few rows cuz it turned out not to be wide enough for the pillow, need more loops to start. But when I got to the end of the last row, something just wasn't right and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Could you clarify, please, when to leave the last loop unworked and when to work it in (I know you mention it in the vid, but I still can't figure it out, I need to see it up close and personal! ;-) ). Also, I noticed that fairly large holes developed as I went along, almost like I was missing loops, but I wasn't. It may be that I was always placing the left loop over the right regardless of which way I was working the row. Reading a comment above, you say to go left over right (when I'm working left to right), or right over left (when I work right to left) depending on which direction we work the yarn. Maybe the holes will close up when I do it correctly?! Clarification very soon would be excellent and hugely appreciated as I want to get this pillow done (a belated birthday gift)! Thanks so much for your vids, they really are very helpful when others fall far short! Blessings, Love and Peace to you! :-D

    • @Needlepointers
      @Needlepointers  4 роки тому

      @@pjwhite1002 Thanks for watching our video and for your questions. As you are working the criss-cross stitch, you will leave a loop at the end unworked, but you work it in on the next row. So, you will not have loops left unworked at the end of the project. If you are using the type of looped yarn I showed, there will be larger gaps because the loops are large. This is just the nature of that yarn. But, working the stitch correctly probably will help close up some of those holes. Just keep in mind that when you are crossing over, you always cross in FRONT of the other loop. We have a written tutorial for this stitch here: www.needlepointers.com/main/youtubecontent.aspx?UA-camPageID=278 and that may help clear things up. The bind off is only used at the very end when you are finished working the whole piece. As for Knitting, the bind off is always the same no matter what type of stitch you are doing. Here is our tutorial on the bind off www.needlepointers.com/main/youtubecontent.aspx?UA-camPageID=279.

      Hi Daphne. I will have to make a video for that! But, to increase, you would just put two loops into one loop. Then in the next round, you loop each of the two loops separately. To decrease, it would be just the opposite. Loop two loops from the previous row onto one loop in the next row. Hope this helps!
