Very true! No one cares in the field about your grades when hiring. They do care about experience and what you know. Ya know, like Revit, Photoshop, Rendering software, great at organization, great communicator and if you’re a people person. Hmmm what else is there? Oh yeah, they love to see sketches, renderings but they don’t care much for design because they want you to do another architects design, lol.
I recently subscribed like barely a month ago because I was doing some research for Architecture school in CO. Your videos have been so so so helpful!! I applied and got in at CCD, which isn’t like huge or anything, but I did it! Your videos just help shed light and remove the mystery and this subject and it’s awesome to see! Keep up the good work! :)
I am a design student majoring in design and architecture from the University of Hong Kong, a "top" ranked U, really competitive. I am struggling hard as there are so many side courses which are not architecture, they are kinda dragging me down, the only seemingly greatly-done course is my architecture major. I am currently in my freshman year, the first semester, and I would like to know if low grades like Bs (2.9-3.3) will be hitting me hard in the future as I really want to get into good design schools (e.g. Aalto, RCA) in the future. I find it hard when I want to improve, especially when I am already trying so hard, putting huge effort into assignments, and seeking for others' help. My grades for assignments just seem to be not so good. How should I deal with this grief and do better in the future?
Thank you for this video! I get A’s and B’s. I know I’m capable of getting all A’s but working while going to school is hard. Wish I had more time to get all A’s
Absolutely! Working and doing school is a balancing act and you should be so so proud of yourself. You put so much work into those grades and I don't think you should kill yourself for only As, you know? Your work experience honestly might be even more valuable than the grades - because in 5 years no one will care! Congratulations though Becca! You rock!!
I recommend getting all your challenging classes "over with" so you can breeze through senior year. You'll have a much more fun time(: so yes if you can get it out of the way, I would recommend doing so! And a basic understanding of math and structures is required, yes.
Hey Natalie, congrats on the grades. I’m actually going to grad school for architecture in the fall. Has graduate architecture school been as intense as undergrad?
I would say it depends on what kind of school you go to. My school is a bit more intense but I wanted it to be. But there are other universities that have a more relaxed curriculum! Some students want to just get the M.Arch so they can practice and universities are aware. I am considering the possibility of teaching architecture at a university some day, which is why I opted for a more harsh curriculum at college. I hope that helps!
hi yes! So in college, some universities offer a failing forgiveness. Meaning if you fail a class early in your college career, you can retake that class and replace your failing grade with a passing one. At ohio state, this did not qualify for any seniors though. But, if you are having a challenging time in a college class in your beginning years, you can definitely retake that class and just replace that failing grade. Talk to your counselors and see if there is a similar policy at your university!!
All you have to say is this when asked if grades matter. "Do you want a building that fails, but you can tell the people who's families you killed, "But I make A's"?"
@@UnravelingArchitecture Thank you :)) it's true though!!! I mean, when you enter a degree program regarding a profession, then grades do not matter, if you have a passion for a field then you should succeed no matter the costs. When you do what you love you won't work a day in your life :)
Don’t stress about your grades too much(: you’re way more than a letter ❤️

absolutely!! Nicely put, Dieter!
I won't lie, I'm slightly jealous. Good on you. Wish you all the very best. Your channel helps a lot. 😁✌️🤗
Thank you ❤️ happy to help you out!

Very true..feels like this all came from heart❤️
I'd say if you even as much pass the GRE, it's kind've expected there's a 0% chance any masters student would come close to failing a course.
Thanks for clearing things up babe ;-;
Side note: What's up with the blobs behind skyscrapers? lol

Life outside architecture major? I dont understand..
Is it ideal to get all math courses out of the way before year 2? 2nd question do architects do a lot of math? Thank you!🔥

Hi, I'm from Portugal and I was curious about what you meant when you talked about "failing forgiveness" would you mind elaborating on that?
hi yes!

honestly this is such a valid point!!!
