As an undergraduate student that thinks that undergrad sucks, it makes me want to hurry up, get that associates or bachelors, and then apply for grad school
The best (a word which here means "made me consider a career change or possibly changing my name and living in the woods") version of this is the paper that's been "one week away from submission" for the past three months. 🙃
@@thankfullyprotected it probably depends but it was sort of my experience just because there were fewer classes, and I already had experience as a student
Masters was much easier than undergrad (for me) because the number of classes was less. They were harder, but it was easier to focus on less classes for me. Phd is the hardest bs i have ever attempted
As a professor, I must admit that I have a soft spot for my graduate students. They work hard, and I make extra time to guide them through their research process. Having taught undergraduates... oh boy, let's just say it's very different. I love this skit!!!
As an undergrad who participates strongly in his classes and thought it was mostly hell yet is considering graduate school, do you think that a lot of this has to come from College for All?
Undergrad: Wow, so many beautiful singles full of positive energy to ask out and hang out with! Grad: Wow, so many tired full-time working, married people with kids that are too exhausted to even go out with their own spouses!
“Maybe I should get my Doctorate.” Yea no. What you need to do is finish that Masters degree or drop out, and then get a 9-5 job. Because academia is a hellscape.
Then there are people like my ex, who got her master's in one year and only having 2 days with classes lol. We lived about 2 hours away from the school, so she would go over there Thursday morning for classes, stay at a friend's place overnight, go to classes on Friday, then come home Friday evening. She did say undergrad was definitely harder haha.
I feel like graduate school is harder but undergraduate work was harder for me because I was taking 4 classes and working fulltime. Now I'm only taking 2 classes and working fulltime as a graduate student. And you have to get a B as well to pass. It's "less work" but it's harder but feels easier at the same time.
Lmao I mean technically yes but definitely never meet with them. I think it's more like PhD students that have like professors for advisors so they meet often
Undergrad: "My TA led the discussion, I had no idea what he was talking about." TA: "I was leading the discussion, I had no idea what I was talking about." This had me rolling! 🤣
I was just accepted into a PhD program right out of undergrad. Is it possible to actually work on top of being a grad student in your first year before you're a TA? Any advice??
Depending on the kind of work it is I think it’s possible! Look at the demands of your program, and make sure you’re not stretching yourself too thin. But as long as you have the hours available for your classes, and the job, I think it should be fine! Maybe run it by your advisor, and other people in / alumni from your program
Depends on what you study. Try and get to know the people in your program so you have friends there. Get to know the faculty too. Graduate programs are usually more intimate and close knit than undergrad. Wishing you the best!

My first semester is in 10 days and I'm excited and terrified!
This made me feel so much better as a grad student lmao. I thought I was doing something wrong.
You’re sad but not alone!!

Graduate: Getting lengthy research papers done by the deadline and avoiding plagiarism/copyright sucks

@SohileAli that's because I was an IB (look it up) student and 20% of our work was long thesis papers.
