Nice one thanks Matt! Some nice Plaice there for March. I've been thinking about getting a UV torch for luminous lure & the beads on rigs, but not bitten the bullet yet! The Pier seems a great place to fish. Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
Quite surprised you fished from the upper deck ?? But having said that, I know you can pull up out of snags muscle beds a lot easier. As for the beads ? Luminous or otherwise ? If not the little bit of light possibly the movement in the water/ vibration ?? As for the mill pond 😮 Had it one day out of New Haven ( boat ) it was so still it was unnervingly earie ??? Water moving, but very dull ,no fish not even a bite and not a seagull anywhere, as quiet as the grave, never had a day like it, and never had it again since. Scary stuff 😬, even the skipper was un-eased. One hell of a day. Keep them coming mate 👍. Even if I can't get out myself it's always a pleasure to see someone else catching. Cheers mate 👍 Les.
brought the tourer to normans bay last summer and spent a morning on the pier but left slightly ssed off loosing 7 rigs to them muscle beds caught in every other cast my mate was worse than me, maybe once the beds go i may return lol tight lines
I agree, I sit on the fence where beads and bling are concerned. I do however think that moving and dragging the bait regularly and kicking up a bit of sand and mud is very conducive to getting takes from most species. I hardly ever see people actively fishing like that . Obviously, it doesnt suit all conditions . Thoroughly enjoyed watching . Tight lines
Yep i think when they're in they're in so beads dont count. But can help us scratch out a fish maybe. Everyone one loves green and black combo for some reason
Great video mate my favourite bit was the birds flying past fantasy stuff mate great filming as always. Seemed like a really picful spot. Take care mate tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
Another "pier"less video Matt - sorry but I couldnt resist the pun mate. I must get over to Eastbourne pier one day. All these years fishing and have never been on there
Looked nigh on perfect for the spotties mr saltwater 🤷 good run along beach a week or two ago as well as shed loads of dabs , no two years are the same 🤔can never put my finger on it . Can’t ever make mind up about the bling either one day it’s all Elton John ✨the next Tarzan one thing I’m sure of is the odd twitch works for sure and I dont mean the personal kind ( I’m taking tablets for that anyway) thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome again Matt nice plaice I used a square piece of canvas when fishing lower deck old Hastings pier to rest weight on when casting did u watch John Locker catching whiting thay looked like thay were on steroids. Happy catching from Australia Nick
Had an interesting conversation about that with Henry Gilbey - He favours more rough water for the surface lures at least. Here in Sussex we will take anything we can get though!
Who was the unlucky bugger that had to wheel the table down the pier ;) I used to get the same flat water down babbacombe pier , was very quiet and spooky, esp at night! Still recouperating amd sorting out getting back to work then im off out with my tackle box :)
Good video as always. 😊 oh I so miss fishing on the pier, especially if your allowed to fish on the bottom right handside ? Finally. Would love to fish it alot more. But it's too expensive to become a member and pay every time. So sad it's to expensive now such a shame 😢😢😢 Keep up the good work. I'd like to fish at the mouth of the cuckmere in summer if you fancied it?
Ahh now I got special fuming permission’s to fish that lower but! Maybe it will be open in summer it’s awaiting a health and safety thingy! Thanks I’ve fished the mouth of cuckmere before fly fishing for bass and had a schoolie - 30 years ago
Do those luminous weights make a .difference? Great video as usual. Is there a lot of walking to fish on the pier as I am disabled keep up the good work Barry ,
Hi Barry / I think they will make a difference in certain conditions but more catch reports needed because that’s the first time I’ve needed them. It’s a 100m trip to the pier end plus some steps down to the lower platform. Would help to be dropped at the pier entrance as parking could be another few hundred m away at busier times
Recovering from and accident so invested in some fishing gear as I use to fish as a kid in NZ - I live in Amersham - anyone go sea fishing from around here?
A very disappointing day fishing wise but you always live in hope. I can never understand why people cast out so far when fishing from a pier. Our farm was only about 6 miles from Eastbourne and in the early 1950s I used to fish a lot from the pier but just with handline. Used to catch a lot of flatties, bass and mackrell in season. Maybe things have changed in the last 70 years, or I'm looking back through rose tinted glasses!
Thanks as always tony. Casting here is a good option to both keep baits away from other anglers and utilise that tide run. With bass in summer it’s well worth casting under a pier! A big recent conger here came at distance too. Some happy memories for you there. I look through rose tinted glasses too but actually it’s more good and bad years I find. There’s days where I’d of had 10 plaice here and some other anglers who fished the first of flood had 5 fat plaice plus dabs too.
It would of been in the thumbnail if I’d had one ! Do you know what- I think tope are a real Possibility later in the year. I’m guilty of it but people just don’t fish for them…. You never know
Been watching your videos for a long while ,but just subscribed. Keep them coming 👍

Nice to meet you. it looks like you had the best of the fish today. First of the ebb best time
@SaltwaterAngler I caught a thornback ray today 4lb 12oz also a silver ell it's getting more active down there

Les we fished from both decks today but as you say a bit spooky 👻
Well that looked like a nice fish for the dihnner plate 👍🐠 I was fishing last night, 5 tings, and 1 dogfish. Weed was a nightmare at the end.
Good update , better than a blank as we say 💪
Hello! I just subscribed here. I love your fishing videos and editing as well. Keep it up! 🎉🎉🎉

Nice one Matt. Don't often see it that calm and not the best conditions for fishing, but to bad for plaice. At least you never blanked!
Hi matt, thanks for posting, lovely upload, nice plaice too.kind regards Mike. Norfolk

Thank you
I just subscribed always wanted to fish that pier great camera work and rigs look spot on
Thanks for watching. The one thing I need to do more of is change the snood lengths on rigs depending on the current. Thanks for subscribing
One plaice better than no plaice! well done mate another great vid
Cheers still a good day still for us here on the pier
After using green and black pea muscle type beads for plaice fishing I've personally found them very successful
Good tip thanks
Great video as always when do you start the lures again ? Cheers John
Here in Sussex once the local gulley water has been and gone in May
Love the fishing video, but unless I was starving, there would all go back.
Nice day for it lol 😂 not fished there for years but had some good species when we did 😎😎😎
Yes it was- yep Big Dover sole too
Nice one mate. All the best from GRIMSBY
Thanks! You too!
Another "pier"less video Matt - sorry but I couldnt resist the pun mate. I must get over to Eastbourne pier one day. All these years fishing and have never been on there
It’s actually a good spot for the youngsters too. Good place to learn - recon you could run a few sessions there
Hi there new to watching you just wondering where to fish near hastings sea side for places 😊
The pier for east fishing. If it’s open! But anywhere on the main beach is fine if they are in
By the looks of the underside of that pier you could be swimming with the fish soon.
Always watch with interest your videos . Maybe you could show us how to make your rigs . I’m very new but your channel is great
Great suggestion! There are some older rig making videos on the channel though
@@SaltwaterAngler ok I will go through your videos . Thanks

One episode of Dad's army was filmed on the lower deck. Cricket ball, and the mine one l think... 🏏🤔🇫🇷 The deck at 12.mlns 🇫🇷❤️
Ahh yes I remember looking that up
I used to know, John le mez. He was a real gentleman.... 😊🇫🇷🇫🇷♥️
Was it packed, and also how long did it take you to travel
Not busy it’s easy parking and travel out of season
