I need to haul a 12’ roll of vinyl flooring in my 6’ bed Tacoma. I thought about renting a trailer from U-Haul (which would be cheaper) but this makes more sense as I’ll have it for future hauling needs. Thanks for making the video! You have a good speaking voice.
Solid review! I have a Tacoma with the 5’ bed and a 14’ kayak so I’ve been looking at one of these. Looks like I’ll grab one. Thanks!
I’m in the same situation, did you buy it and if so how did it work? Any bottoming out?
@@billkiessel6682 I did not, as I found out that it’s illegal here to hang anything more than 4’ out of the bed. Looking at a Malone trailer now.
If you need to carry longer cargo, rotate the L bar. Put the short
length into the receiver and the T onto of the long section. Now you
have a brace that's 18 inches past your bumper that is the height of
your cab...
Could be the pin holes drilled at an angle causing the slight lean. You gotta expect little imperfections like that from harbor freight :P
Looks like it’s really bending down in that last scene you shot. I’d wonder how it would hold up to its 300lb capacity. But good review still. Thanks. 👍🏼
Just got one of these today to put on my ranger. I fabbed up some brackets and welded em on the T bar and put lights on it. It’s got all internal wiring. I also put a flat plug where the T bar comes off so I can take it apart and store it.
It’s a pretty good setup for the money. I will say this though, when I was grinding the powder coat off to weld, it didn’t impress me. But hey, it was 60 bucks. If your going to use it a lot, I’d put a couple coats of rust oleum on it. I did.
This guy has a trick to hold down the boards that are at the front of the bed.

Another trick is to place the boards on edge instead of on the flat. The edge way keeps the boards from sagging.
Also, mount a 2x board on top of the horizontal bar. This helps to elevate that section of the load to be more in line with the floor of the bed, which causes less flopping around.
What is the maximum load capacity of the harbor freight bed extender yet see your project.....
The wobble and crookedness is there so the parts won’t rust together and make it impossible to disassemble.. my hitch wobbles like crazy when I tow my boat and I keep thinking something is breaking off lol. They make a rubber adapter to go in the receiver that eliminates the play in it. I’ve been searching for one for years but no luck
Look up rattle silencer. It's a rubber sheet that goes on the male end of the hitch that stops noise/play in the connection.
Great review, appreciate you showing measurements, Thank you.
"Cantilever" is the word you're looking for.
How thick are the tubing, the one that goes into the trailer hitch and the one that sits on top with the tie downs?
Will it fit any ute/truck tow bar insert? Great video😁 I want to make one at home.
It’s 2”x2”…..
That the problem with a 4door pickup bed is useless
Blah blah blah 😂😂😂
Illegal as fuck.
I'm not sure what state you live in, but in Ky. as long as you use a red flag, anything 4 feet or under is legal.
Every state has legal overhang limits and most let you extended that limit with a red flag. Not sure what's illegal about this.
Not in my state. We just have to use red flags.
