I love mine! You can also flip it and use it to extend a roof rack if you have one!

A trick I use is putting down a single section of a longer extension ladder to add extra support to longer loads, 16 ft comp deck boards.

I just got back from bringing seventeen 20 foot deck boards 45 miles home in an 8’ bed pickup. There was some bouncing on the board ends but the extender worked like a champ! I’m sure I exceeded the weight rating, too.

First time here, thanks for the video review! I also agree with you. I like to buy stuff made in the USA when I have the funds to do so, but a lot of the products at Lowes and HD are made overseas too. I also never thought of it as supporting 20k American jobs as well. Thanks and keep up the great videos!

Word of warning to anyone looking to buy the Harbor Freight Truck bed extender.
Although HF sells this as a single product, they actually have three different partnumbers for it.
    69650, 45830, 56219.
I recently went to HF to buy one and they had only the 56219. This one is "Garbage!" Too short in the T-bar. Does not come with two J-Pins. It won't work well with a Ford F-150!
I went to "another" HF that had the PN 69650 in stock. This one is the "Good" one. The T-Bar is longer with more spacing between the adjustment holes and it comes with two quality J-Pins for connecting it up.
So make sure the one you get is PN 69650... NOT 56219. (Sorry I don't know anything about the third PN 45830...)
This video reviewed the 69650. You can see at 2:02 it showing the "good" J-Pin and the "long" T-Bar. You can see the part number at 5:18

I was looking into getting this extender for my Sierra short-bed as well to haul 10’ cedar boards for raised garden beds. Thank you for your review and also mentioning the essential cargo bar.

It works well. My brother informed me it may be illegal in some states to have any boards on it that hang out more than the length of the bed without having lights on it. I just flagged it. You should be good with 10 foot boards though

Easiest Harbor Freight assembly instructions ever. I put together some of their sawhorses once, I could have put real horses together faster.

I cut mine so it goes up at a slope from the receiver hitch (after it got bent by a curb) and it's now got a swivel wheel.

You are using it wrong. Get a pair of Pop-up brackets for your rear side post openings in the bed. Run a ratchet strap from each to the loops on the extender.
    * This gives the Extender added support against buckling with heavy overly lengthy loads.

I bought one yesterday and it sits lower than my tailgate (full size pickup). I can’t use it the way it is. I wonder why yours can adjust so much higher? I need around 10 inches just to have it level with my tailgate.

Or just pay the delivery fee and not worry about someone plowing into the back of your lumber or turning to sharp and the back swings out and hits something.

I look at it from a dollars and cents perspective. Take my generator fromHF for instance. 3500 watt ultraquiet generator for $700. Honda equivalent $2100. Is the Honda better quality? Probably, but it is 3 x more expensive. If my HF lasts 5 years and the Honda lasts 10, I'm still ahead $700. They are an American company and employ over 20,000 Americans. Alot of their stuff is from China, but so is a large percentage of product at Lowes and Home Depot. Ive had good luck with HF.

HF stuf is fine if it’s needed occasionally. I would never buy anything for my work that was used heavily. But for occasional use, it’s cool.
