About 20 years ago, I bought an 89 Scirocco. to replace a wrecked VW quantum and needed another daily driver pretty quickly. The mechanic I used for maintenance said lets get that timing belt serviced very soon. I didn't have the cash at the time but regret not doing it at least on a credit card as it broke and caused engine damage about a month later. The repair bill was going to be about $1800 at the time. We ended up selling it at a loss and leasing a new Jetta. Another bad mistake. I loved that Scirocco and it was so fun to drive. I love what you are doing with these cars, Casey, thanks for sharing!

It is all about what makes you happy. If it is all 100% OEM or matching partings or name brand custom parts, in the end it is about what makes you happy. If you get ‘part’ and always look at ‘part’ saying wish I would have done ‘other part’. Personally I’m more about the $$$ money and saving it. I love tools and getting the tools to do a job then learning how to in-depth. Kinda like fish lures and learning how to work them beside cast and real in. I enjoy the lead up to the hurt, the prep as much as the hurt and more then the aftermath. Happy is what matters because you work too hard to not enjoy life. That’s just my two cent.
You have some awesome 80’s rides. It is funny how we love the cars of the childhood. I had a terrible bike accident at 13 lost all my memory and childhood memory so lift started at 13 for me. The brain is a odd part. I didn’t know how I knew how to do it I just did and still am that way but the 90’s cars and early 2000’s are my favorites. Might be why is a 1991 Nissan D21 hardbody, 2002 BMW Z3 M roadster, and a 2009 Honda Ruckus (they started them in 2002 lol). Somedays I’ll get a 2001 750Li V-12 manual swapped I can build to have more power and maybe a turbocharged duramax swapped hummer h1 or hmmwv with A/C. Besides the 750Li I like basics like power steering, power brakes, maybe windows and mirror. I don’t have radio in my truck only a Glock box with radio cover my Z3M CD player been skipping since 2006 when the warranty ran out.

Casey, tell your camera person to use the reflection of a light fixture to show dents. If you get the right lighting, it's amazing what you can see. Check out some paintless dent repair (PDR) to see what I mean. And maybe you can do some PDR on that hood. Doesn't look too bad to me. I suggest you get one of the amazon kits and try it out.

If you ever need help on a 944, I paid a Rally cup 944 racer from NJ to come to NY and I paid per day to teach me, the whole engine in the 83 and the 85.5 and when I was done he left me a real rally shirt from Porsche that said mechanic, as he said you are now a trained mechanic on this car..it was a nice touch after paying 5,000 to learn it ,but well worth it.

    • @Evocati-Augusti

seeing you 83 makes me soo mad... I had the same quality paint, wet sanded and looked like you'res but it was original Guards red, and it had 23K and I know what people said it turns over at 9999k but the shape of the car and the engine and parts told me it was the real milage and it had only been worked on, tuned up by Porcshe with the records, I soo wanted the phone dails rims ..and I was 1 day too late to drive an 89 944 t I think, off somebody yard free...free..with phone dials.mine had 2003 911 rims and Falken tires and i think the rims and tires were worth more then the car lol i live in the Hamptons on long island, and the super-rich give away 50,000 cars are classics like a 560sel with 40k for 2k I got and you could get any German car with less than 50 K for under 4,000$ they just want them gone, and I've gotten very lucky,i got an 83 911 sc that was in a barn in East Hampton since 95 and was in showroom condition,6K..a 85 SAAB 900s t Burgandy Convert 20k for 500% FIVE hundred.I'm retired military now and I think I could make 80-120 k just buying a car in the Hamptons. and reselling it.in the 80s I did masonry work on every famous person's house ever, and my work was in magazines, I was a good apprentice and craftsman later, and my work from 89 hasn't even cracked or changed, and every 5 years Id stop by my work and have held those relationships since, and I told them back in the 80s when they asked why my bid was double the highest? I promise my work would outlive me and guaranteed my work for life,...and I had a line of jobs and was always doubling the highest bidder getting the job .then getting slipped 10-20 k from homeowner to get working sooner..My 911 had a 2ballcane as an emblem lol

Man, you have a "Dream Garage"❗ Love it❗ I recommend the brushed gold on the 928 wheels. But one thing I'd do different; I would do a dark chestnut tan on the 928's upholstery, would really pop with the paint color and gold wheels. But still, your collection is amazing ‼👍🏽🙂

If I could make a recommendation. I do antique tractor restoration and have had far better success with Rust Bullet Automotive over POR15. Where the MR2 body has deteriorated I think you’ll be happier over two years and beyond with Rust Bullet. However, I too used POR15 so I hope this is not received as criticism rather an opportunity for greater success. Projects look great. Love the 928. I to at about age 17 found myself going 135 mph on a super long on ramp while barely trying. The 928 is so smooth it just eats up the road. Great car. Hopefully you can find the parts and rebuild the Paris Phone alternator they tend to be pricey and bring down the entire electrical system of the car.

I’m 20 years old and I’ve been obsessed with 80s cars every since I saw an AW11 in my neighborhood over 10 years ago. I’ve wanted to pick something up so long, but I’m worried about the general reliability issues that comes with a car of such vintage (not much of a wrench). What car would you recommend to satiate my desire for popup headlights? I’ve already considered a Miata but it just isn’t for me. I love the 944 and MR2 of course!

Habit for broken exhaust manifold studs which requires to engine to be removed...... And I broke a motor mount. Which was part of the firewall... I don't know how that was considered fine German engineering... It wasn't... Fortunately.. AMERICAN ingenuity solved that issue when I supported the weight of the engine by a chain.. M

@@CaseyPutsch the MR2 was definitely a favorite as a teen though so I'll probably change it lol. Just curious, in your classic cars what cassettes you keep for road trips? I have Back in Black, Blues Brothers soundtrack and a few Elvis albums.

@@CaseyPutsch Well seeing that event is about 18000 Kilometres away from me in Western Australia, it is a little hard for me to be too mournful about it.. have fun with your glorified Audis ;)

Casey, I love you, but my only complaint to you is you're caring too much what people think about you. Example, the paint on the VW. You went too in depth and seemed to get annoyed when you were explaining what you wanted to do to it and made like a "It's my way or the highway" answer. Regardless, the 944 is my favorite.
