    When my dog do a vet visit, I just tell them I feed Hill's/Science diet kibble food, the same brand in vet reception area. Everytime my vet is so happy and said I'm a good owner. They told me my dog's blood work is perfect and my dog's skin and hair are so fabulous beautiful shine🤣

    ive been raw feeding my cats for 17yrs and i constantly hear from vets and specialists that my 10yr old cancer/ HCM cat should be on veterinary dry food! ummm... yeah... kibble is hardly appropriate for an obligate carnivore- my vets are paid to look after my cats medical needsvand nothing else- their nutition education is quite limited and taught by hills/ royal canin reps- unless they take a special interest in nutrition, they stick with what theyre taught and they are so busy theres not a lotta time for extra research- the BIG concern is that far too many think that feeding raw meat is all thats required- it is essential that it be balanced!

    This is exactly my worries. I started my now 6month old poodle on farmers dog while I was still researching Raw. I added a few new vitamins that I am pretty sure were the culprit to his diet, and he had daily vomiting and diarrhea for almost 2 weeks and my vet swore it was the food and that I switched immediately. As a first time dog owner of course I panicked and switched to their hills prescribed dog food and it has been bothering me for 3weeks now. I do not care to keep him on kibble but his poop as been normal and vomiting maybe twice since then. I started introducing a little raw chicken yesterday hoping I can get him off of kibble in the next 4weeks.

      Warning!!!!! I am very passionate about feeding my dogs fresh-- Raw commercial and fresh, home-cooked. However, I would sometimes use Hills Z/D canned for one of my poodles who sometimes got GI issues because of food allergies/sensitivities. Z/D is hydrolyzed which means all the proteins are broken down to the point that they will not elicit an allergic response. I would use this maybe once a year for three days when she had a GI irritation. She had perfect blood work and two months later presented with serious kidney issues. It is my sincere belief that it was caused by the Hills. They had a voluntary recall around that time. It is not the case that these companies can be trusted to recall all the lots that might be involved in any of their formulary mistakes or contamination problems.
      The point is, even using one of these lousy commercial foods intermittently can have bad consequences. They are terrible for a dogs health long term as they don't supply fresh fatty acids or variety and contain unwholesome waste from the human food industry. And, the recalls are frequent enough that it is like playing Russian Roulette with your best friend.

      Poodles have a higher chance of pancreatitis, symptoms including diarrhea and vomiting and lethargy. Hopefully your vet tested for this but if not maybe it’s something you can bring up next time. But usually raw diets are a way to eliminate symptoms of pancreatitis not worsen them. I’m no expert though, just trying to help.

    • @violetblythe6912
      @violetblythe6912 9 місяців тому

      As someone else stated, poodles are prone to pancreatitis, and the trigger is often high fat (COOKED) foods. It’s often stated that high fat in general is the cause because they aren’t thinking about raw feeders, but typically only cooked fats trigger this inflammatory response in dogs that are prone to it. Vets will usually tell you to go on and extremely low fat prescription diet, but many people are able to feed their pancreatitis-prone dog raw food with higher fat levels with no issue.

A compromise I have come up with is part raw (commercially prepared) and part wet dogfood. Just wanna ask if this is better than feeding kibble and raw, Im assuming yes because of the moisture but I'm not completely sure since it's hard to find this sort of info. Eating raw chicken feet and duck necks (most small dogs can handle these) provide fresh cartilage which has all the supplement they need. Additionally or instead of, Vetri-Science makes a fabulous supplement called "Vetri-Disc" I love the ingredients in this capsule and so I give a couple times a week plus one duck neck (every other week I cut off the top of the neck with poultry shears to avoid giving too much thyroid tissue-- Don't know what too much is for a 14 pound dog and neither do any of the "experts") and usually a large, raw chicken foot (cut off ends of toes with poultry shears to remove nails) and/or raw chicken wing or bone in half breast.

      I'm months late, but yea... your dog just wants food. It doesn't matter if she is full and eats morning and night, most dogs will always jump at the chance to get food. Dogs cannot tell if the food has nutrients they are missing, they don't have x-ray vision into a food's ingredients.
      Dogs do not need grains. Plenty of dogs live great lives on grain free as others do on grain-in. A dog also can't tell if they are missing nutrients, like how we don't know. Dogs as well as us feel a little sick, but we don't know why, it's the doctors who run tests and tell us why we feel sick.
      If you are worried about your dog being hungry, maybe feed a little more, not too much, but just a tad bit. Or add some toppers like wet food mixed in, that might help make your dog feel more satisfied.

    • @catsatdusk6710
      @catsatdusk6710 Рік тому

      Grains can be addicting to some animals (like it can be in humans) so its not from a nutrient deficiency, your dog is just getting cravings from a food it used to eat (and plus dogs just like anything food if they're food driven).
      P.S also be careful with some grain-free foods with legumes, as some of them can bind to taurine and cause a taurine deficiency in dogs. Not to make you worry but just something to keep in mind.

      Did you feed a grain based food previously? Unfortunatley, where I live, people love throwing bread for the pigeons and my dog would run around scoffing every piece he could find. I found a few months after switching to raw, he stopped doing it (unless it had just rained and then he might as the bread was all soggy). However, when I go on holiday, I can't bring the raw with me so I use the best quality canned food I can find. But I have noticed that for a few days after eating the canned food, he'll start eating the bread scraps again (and any other rubbish food he can find). After a week or so on raw he stops scavenging.

      @@Dero_milsurp One year is a pretty normal time for dogs to get spayed/neutered. Most vets recommend at least 6 months, and for large breed, 12-18 months so her dog’s spayed in the normal range.

    • @Dero_milsurp
      @Dero_milsurp Рік тому +1

      @@azureseraph1264 it’s been normalized, it is not “normal”. Vets make money off these procedures. Anything prior to 2 years is extremely risky for the dog because the dog has not matured and still is physically growing. These procedures disrupt physical growth and cause a host of physical and mental problems. It’s amazing you are more nervous about raw feeding than you are a terrible medical choice for your dog.

    • @azureseraph1264
      @azureseraph1264 Рік тому +1

      @@Dero_milsurp First of all, I’m not even nervous with raw feeding and I enjoy watching these vids for the fun of it. Second, why do you insist that vets do such things just to “make money”, most vets don’t become vets for money since they don’t nearly make as much as you think they do. I bet you 99% of vets become vets because they truly care(plus whether they neuter early or a year later, they’ll still get that money anyway). And if you wait 2-3 years just to neuter or spay, your asking for a lot of hormone based behavioral issues later on that will become a habit, plus the potential pain of heat for female dogs. Also, it’s only risky if it’s a “large breed or giant”, a border collie isn’t a large breed since like other smaller breeds, they develop and grow up faster. Everyone has a different feel for “safety” for their dogs, and for me it’s between 1-2 years for neutering. I agree that neutering too early can cause issues, however in between 1-2 years is a safe time to neuter. Don’t pull your bs on others just because what you researched are for large breeds, and not medium and small breeds, plus I have yet to see any source out of 10+ that state dogs have to be neutered at 2+ age other than the few random(non vets) saying that.wellesleyvet.com/pet-health-resources/pet-health-articles/articles/potential-health-implications-of-early-neutering-in-large-breed-dogs/.
