We used to make our own raw food. We’d portion it and freeze it however we found that our butcher makes raw dog food and this was such a life saver! Check with local butchers in your area to see if they do this too!
Thank you so much for this. After getting bags and bags of vet recommended food for my new puppy, I felt a little overwhelmed. I had intended on trying a more natural diet, but I gave in to the puppy kibble. After taking the time to read all the ingredients (I live in Japan, so it's all in kanji...) I realized I spent $80+ for a month's worth of cornmeal, flour and meat "meal". Your channel gave me the courage to actually try out this plan. Since I live in Japan, it's really easy to access the basic muscle meats and meaty bones for this diet. In fact, shopping and prep time (for about a week's worth of food) only took an hour and about $20. With more practice and figuring out how to order directly from a butcher (Japanese is my second language) I think I'll be able to save more money. I can't believe feeding raw will cost the same, or less than, commercial food. Before, he went crazy for kibble during training sessions, but after a few tastes of real chicken, he's already giving me the cold shoulder when I offer him a piece of dry kibble. 😂
This was the best explanation I have found for feeding a puppy raw food, your explanation was so clear and easy to follow. Thank you SO much for this video!!! You just cured so much of my stress haha.
Not only you should write down the weight and age, but I'd also recommend writing down almost every meal including what and how much the puppy ate, you can document what they don't like to eat, what kind of poop they had after the meal. It will be so helpful in case you will need to show your puppy to your vet so the vet could take a look and see if there're any potential deficiencies or if your puppy has an allergy to something. I still do that sometimes when feeding my own dogs just to keep track of what they actually get.
Question.. I’m about to transition my 5 month old black lab puppy to raw food. I bought a raw whole chicken for his first meal & cut it into sections. How do I go about feeding it to him? I have no idea where to start. Do I just give him a few pieces & let him have at it? Or should I cook it a little the first time I give it to him so it’s not completely raw & then gradually decrease the cooking time til it’s completely raw?
Thank you for this! All your videos are super informative and now this was the cherry on top on how to set up a diet for a puppy :) Loved learning how you started off Matsu
My puppy is only 2 months old and surprisingly she is able to eat each section of chicken wings, and she does really well with it. She somehow understands she is supposed to crunch down the bone really well and I see her crunch down even the largest section of the wing to tiny pieces. I always supervise. She seems to love it. When I got her she had diarrhea from a round of antibiotics due to a littermate getting giardia and the vet being cautious.... within a few days she had solid stool and I really think this had a lot to do with the bone. I felt so relieved to see this work so well for her. It feels less intimidating now that I see she is already thriving on it.
I linked more info on that in the description - Perfectly Rawsome provides all NRC guidelines here - this is per 1000 kcal so you will need to adjust depending on your puppy's caloric intake: tinyurl.com/qobzsk93

Love your videos. We've started slowly on our journey for 3 big bird dogs of different ages. Do you have any videos that are size or category specific and with list of meats in the description? Also, handy note, it's relatively difficult to find organ meats at the grocery if you don't live in the South anymore.
When my aunt's dog had pups we weaned them right into raw ! We think it really helped with their development, even if they went onto eating kibble later
Great video, love the channel. My only hesitation of feeding raw to my puppy is it has been hard to find information on the correct RMB for large/giant breed dogs. I am getting a corgi soon and the breeder says that I should be feeding a large breed puppy diet because it is lower in calcium/phosphorus and lower in calories. They cited that research is showing that corgi's skeletal structure develops at similar rates to large breeds and that having a diet too high in calcium/phosphorus may become problematic. My concern is on perfectly rawsome as well as your videos, it says that puppies should get 17% RMB with no recommendation of different breed's needs. I'm not sure if this is because raw has different rules or if raw hasn't caught on to the same trend happening with kibble. While my question is specifically in relation to corgis, I'm sure many large/giant breed puppy owners are also asking the same question. Would you be willing to elaborate on the correct RMB ratio for these breeds?
It's more about the ratio. I also have a large breed. If you order from perfectly rawesome, i would just make a special note that you need the Ca:P balanced at 1:1

I’ve asked this question on another channel. What they say is u can give them raw muscle meat, but not the rest because a mainly kibble diet makes them vulnerable to bacteria that is higher likely to be found in organ tissue. Kibble makes those bacteria easier to manifest due to its high carb count, which is why in a completely raw diet, it great to feed organ meet. They also said something about possibly overdoing some of the minerals cuz they would be found in BOTH the kibble and the organ meet.
Did you ever recommend the books that you read? Did you ever think about possibly making your own worksheets / notebook that others could print and use?
Interesting video!I was just wondering about the vergetables. I read that they are important because pray animals often still have vegetables/fruits in their stomache still. Which means naturally the dogs/cats would eat them too. What is your opinion about it? Maybe it's worth a video?

I have been feeding my dogs a raw diet for many years, but I have a new puppy and he is having trouble with the raw. I would like to try the prey model but don't know how best to start.
So, can a whole prey animal work? And do you need to grind it up before feeding them or could you give them a whole chicken with organs included as long as its the right weight

If meat has been thawed, is it possible to refreeze? Also if it has been thawed how long can it last in the fridge?
Portions in the supermarket are usually quite large, especially organ meat
EXCELLENT Video, THANK YOU!!!
Do you have any advice on resources like books, articles, and courses I can look into for raw feeding my pup?

This is helpful, could you do a video on frozen Raw nuggets - how to feed, how much please 💕
Do you have cooked food guidance in detail similarly to this video ? Thanks
I'm excited to find this. I have a 5 month old Huskador/Labsky and I have her on a raw diet kibble brand called instinct. But it's mad expensive. The Asian market right by my house sells bones organs and muscle tissue meats from the butchery and for cheap. Thank you for the info I'm excited to see if there's any savings to be made
For the missing nutrients part how much do you feed?
I’m getting a 9 week old chihuahua what recipes should I start with? And how many times a day? Can i or should still give a probiotic with raw diets!?
Ur puppy legs are so cutee!!❤ he looks adorable like a plush ❤
I have a 6 month old golden retriever puppy. We've really been struggling with vet bills, from a persistent UTI to yeast infections in her ears and blood in her stool. She's also very gassy and tends to have loose stool. I'm hoping that switching to a raw diet will help alleviate these issues. Thanks for such a useful video!
Can we get An update on the pup a year later?

Question: is the raw meaty bone for puppies considered as a toothbrush?
Just here to send some puppy love 💕🐾

What if yo can find whole prey animals to give? Which ones should you give to the puppy?
what do you do when your pup has parasites?? put them on a dewormer? or a chew that "kills" the parasites?
Thanks for the awesome videos. I have added around 17% of bones in my puppy’s diet which consists of chicken necks and feet. However the calcium level is still way below what is needed as the bones have less calcium as I expected. What might be the tips to make sure they can enough calcium?
Grind up organic egg shells into a powder, this is a great way to make a calcium supplement for your dog
Blue mussels are Australia while Green lipped are New Zealand
I have been feeding my dogs a raw diet for many years, but I have a new puppy and he is having trouble with the raw. I would like to try the prey model but don't know how best to start.
So, can a whole prey animal work? And do you need to grind it up before feeding them or could you give them a whole chicken with organs included as long as its the right weight
Could you please do a video on a diet for Dalmatians (low purine) they can’t have organs. I have a Dalmatian pup who I make homemade food for, but even with native pet supplements & omega 3 I worry he isn’t getting all he needs.
