For me, I prefer the glass ones. The canned ones taste like they are lack of something, it’s like canned coke wins when it compares to a glass coke. But for Heineken it’s in the contrast.
The problem with Heineken in a bottle (and Stella Artois, Corona, and a few of beer brands), is that UV light causes a chemical reaction in the beer due on the green glass (in the case of Corona, Landshark, & some others, clear glass). That is what causes the skunky smell and taste…yuk, yuk, yuk….Out of a can or draft is the best way to enjoy Heineken. It is possible to to get ahold of bottles that have not been exposed to UV light, but your rolling the dice…
That glass is massive 😂 I've been to Amsterdam a while back when I was a teen. Had Heineken on tap, cold lager is just a good drink when it's hot and sunny. It's probably one of the better lagers out there I think.
I love heiniken, i always thought they brew it with mary jane being its brewed in Amsterdam, wonder why its skunky because no other beer smells like that
hahah that's hilarious. It definitely smells like it! We actually have a different vid explaining the skunky smell if you're curious ua-cam.com/video/ZKIHQyFgbno/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BeerBrackets
The can Heinekens have that strong metal taste which makes the beer very pungent which messes with the beers taste n the glass bottle has better taste that’s extremely crispy n refreshing n that’s my opinion and all I drink is Heinekens since I first picked up a beer!
Just had a can of Heineken for the first time, and I find it lacking when compared to the bottle version. It's still a good beer, but has less flavor and less carbonation.
You know what? I’ve always loved the Heineken in a bottle. Felt it had a Hempy smell and taste. Just tried a can and it didn’t have that…it tasted sterile! Now I know why! I guess I like that skunky taste!,!
I really enjoy bottled Heineken. The can just tastes like there's something wrong with the beer, the flavor doesn't last as much in the can and after a while you can taste the alcohol, whereas in the bottle you can't really perceive the taste of the alcohol as much (despite the 5,0 % ABV) which is a synonym of quality for me.
Aldair I completely agree about the flavor. The aromas and taste are just so much more complex and interesting out of the bottle than they are in the can. It's very noticeable.
It tastes better in the can! I miss the old design Heineken bottles, since they changed the stout from a fat one to a skinny one the taste is not the same!
Bottles and mini kegs are usually all from Amsterdam, Holland The cans are mostly brewed in Mexico and reason they taste different recently. Try a can vs can video if you can get them from both places same with the bottles.
That’s so interesting! I’ve never heard of Mexican brewed Heineken, but beer distribution is a really complicated web to untangle. All the canned Heineken I get here in Canada is brewed and imported from Holland thankfully.
The can is superior as is the case with basically every beer. Less air can escape and no light can get in. Those who say they can taste the metal on the can are experiencing confirmation bias: there's a liner inside the can so it never touches the metal. Cans are also easier to recycle. cheers!
I've been drinking bottled version for decades. Recently I purchased a 12 pack of slims. Huge difference. Gone is that distinctive bitter taste that I love. No more cans for me. And in general, I find canned beer repulsive. End of story.
That's so interesting, I've had a lot of people (including brewers) who've said that canned beer is the best and the way to go. I agree with you though that I tend to prefer bottled versions of beer in general.
I have been drinking Heineken for many many years on and off. Pretty much, not to much anymore. It is one of the most unreliable beers in a bottle. Sometimes great, but more often not. Extremely inconsistent. Nothing like getting stuck with a crappy 12 pack (Corona suffers this fate also). Mini keg seems the most reliable… my 2 cents. Thanks for the vid!
It's not supposed to smell and taste like that. It's the green bottle. Why they do that I'll never know but it's not what it's supposed to be it's just that whoever handles the beers in bottles aren't protecting the bottles from the sunlight
I really prefer it from bottle I like a little skunky-ness from it! Awesome comparision ! I want to do this on my channel somewhen :) great reviews my dudes, gave you a subscriber too 🤪🤙
I’m pretty sure the skunkiness doesn’t have much to do with UV rays, hops, or the color of bottles. I think it’s to do with the yeast content which varies between manufacturers. This would explain why can beers have noticeably less odor, because heavy metals such as aluminum kill yeast and bacteria.
To me the cans one taste better even after minutes it still has a better taste while the bottle turned into a water-like drink. Another weird thing I discovered ( just for myself and friends) the bottle drinks cause a strong hangover,( migraine for me 100%) in the morning, while Heineken in cans cause not even a headache but feeling sleepy😅😂, to me the bottle is good if you prefer the smell, not the drink itself😮.
I proved this to a bar owner in Merritt B.C. his heineken was in a lit cooler. I brought him 2 bottles from my hotel room which had seen no light whatsoever and we poured each in a glass. His was somewhat darker in colour and tasted on the skunky side and mine was perfect. He gave me a 8ft x 8ft Heineken patio unbrella for proving him wrong. He now only keeps heineken in cans to stop he issue. I won't have a heineken without asking if cooler has lights.
The reason the bottle smells skunky it's because it is skunked. What has happened is that the bottled beer has been set out in the sunlight and the light even in a warehouse will change the chemical makeup of the beer thus giving it that skunkin
I really regret buying the cans, they are not the same, I'm going to have to give these away, The only beer that was any good out of a can was the old Special Brew 9 %, Not the New Special brew, they got David Cameron to ban it because it was better than draught pints at the pub.
can was cheaper and tastes better paid 11.99 for six pack bottles 12 oz. got a four pack 16 oz can at walgreens for 5.49 and i am disappointed drinking this bottled heineken rn
Bottles rip the tits off the cans. Cans make you feel bloated and feeling like you've ate a horse and has a tiinny taste, I've had 2 cans and it's a horrible vibe as well, Bottles might be brewed in the uk but they're lovely, If you're a draught beer lover and connoissier you'll know what I'm saying, ignore the armchair eggsperts.

Great idea for s review. I'm so used to the skunkiness I think I enjoy it now.
Definitely either one is fine with me but it's cool to compare. Cheers!
The can Heinekens have that strong metal taste which makes the beer very pungent which messes with the beers taste n the glass bottle has better taste that’s extremely crispy n refreshing n that’s my opinion and all I drink is Heinekens since I first picked up a beer!
Heiniken in a bottle every time .
Just had a can of Heineken for the first time, and I find it lacking when compared to the bottle version. It's still a good beer, but has less flavor and less carbonation.
The can is definitely lacking the unique flavors that the bottle offers. It's what makes a Heineken a Heineken in our opinion.
I agree too. This should not be the case but it certainly is

Dos Equis in mini kegs that come from Holland instead of Mexico also taste different.
Blind taste test with 4 or 5 Heineken
Can, can, bottle, bottle, keg.
Label the bottom of the glasses.
Mexico vs Amsterdam vs UK
Buy 3 cans for an even comparison
Ireland Heineken vs German Heineken
That’s so interesting! I’ve never heard of Mexican brewed Heineken, but beer distribution is a really complicated web to untangle. All the canned Heineken I get here in Canada is brewed and imported from Holland thankfully.
Drinking one right now very good I like it in bottle and can

You're obviously not a connoisseur, the tins are crap.
Bottled is superior in most beverages especially Heineken and black label
It's a tie, for me, I guess.
Bottle all the way guys! 🍺
This is great and what a fantastic idea! Never heard that about not tilting for the pour so much 🍻

I like the can much better and is my beer of choice
Bottle wins
I like glass with foods. Can when I wanna just throw em back
That makes total sense! The more flavorful bottle version pairs better with a lot of foods, for sure.
I prefer cans to bottles and the reason why is that cans cool much faster in the fridge and they do not skunk
Definitely great reasons to prefer them!
Brewed in Amsterdam in the bottles is the genuine and best beer. Brewed in the UK in cans is different, nowhere as good. Hardly any taste or flavour.
Would love to try a bottled version from Amsterdam one day. The version I get in Canada is brewed by Molson/Coors in Ontario.
To me the cans one taste better even after minutes it still has a better taste while the bottle turned into a water-like drink. Bottle for me
I love Heineken. Totally the light hitting the green bottle make it skunky. Buy a 12 or 24 with no light getting to it and it tastes like can.
Thaaaat's really interesting! Bottles from a sealed case must be completely different.

@@rudy250r There's so much more complexity to choosing beer than people realize.

A agree guys. But the can seems to work for getting inebriated faster.. 😆 LOL
😆 Fair point!
No no noooooooo you needed to drink it FROM the can and beer wtf!
Cans are ALWAYS better.
I find Heinekin from a bottle is very ‘hempy’. Kind of reminds me of Amsterdam!! 🚬 💨
Haha that’s a great way of describing that skunkiness that you get in the bottle 🦨
if you are a beer lover and have been drinking for years u will under stand can beer and draft is the best
I only drink beer that is bottled, no fan's for me .
Heineken just hits right doesnt it 🎉
🍻🍻

What about draft….
Unfortunately this was filmed at the height of covid so we were limited to what we could get at the local store. Would love to compare all 3 one day!
Draft is the best 💯
can was cheaper and tastes better paid 11.99 for six pack bottles 12 oz. got a four pack 16 oz can at walgreens for 5.49 and i am disappointed drinking this bottled heineken rn
Mehhh ..... Can is for girls😂🤭...... Bottle it is✌️👍🍻🍺
Gutted, Just wasted £6.55 at Tesco for 6 small cans, Horrible is an understatement.
Chourico in cans
The green bottles are bad you need the black bottles of heineken they sell in nederland
The green make the beer bad
Black bottles! Have never seen or heard of those. Guessing it tastes similar to the canned version?
They sell the 24 bottles packs in black glass it tasted better belief my cans are most close to real heineken in forgein countrys @@BeerBrackets
